ya i do miss the old times in tfm especially the ones in survivor :( in 2011 survivor was really awesome and i went on it everyday and it was filled with friendly people, with no hotkeys or meeps, and many of my friends were there but now they quit because last year survivor changed. :\ and yea the events like valentines 2012 and christmas 2011 were the best events where everything was cooperative. and when i first started i was alone but the community then helped me lots. miss the old times :(

I miss the old bootcamp style

First is bootcamp8, then bootcamp+, then bootcampenis (with a limit of 8 mice), maybe retrobootcamp. Those keep track of your map completion and leaderboard. Hacker were strickly punished and they were seek out instantly. We will never room hop because we don't have the "bootcamp static" in our profile yet. Today, those popular room are gone, legendary bootcamper have to move on. We can never tell how many unique map we have actually complete. Mod don't response as much as the old time to bad hacker.

Then, the spam completion of easy map and bootcamp room searching for a lot of mice, which other bootcamper call them "farmer". They mainly want to get on the top leaderboard on cheeseformice. There's nothing wrong with farmer, but the ridiculous part is that now-a-day there's a whole new convension of "farmer group". Basically one mice is responsible for searching map. When that mouse find a easy map, he call the entire group (10-20 mice) over the play that map. All the sudden the popular room like bootcamp1 and bootcamp2 went empty....It's not the same anymore.

Those who have joined in 2010 would have a better check on the community change. The whole transition happened in 2011 - 2012.

2011 was quite decent, while 2012 started becoming quite frankly, disappointing.

2013 is the year where all hell breaks loose. The game is popular now, many players. And hot-headed players. I understand that most of the older players have quit the game, either because of their real life, or because they lost interest in the game. So most of the decent players have gone.

With so many people in the game, even wall jumping isn't a skill anymore. To be a a skilled player in the game now, you have to know how to do everything.

What also frustrates me is that, most of the new players now barely respect the game itself. They play it, but in the end they all just say, "Wow the creators need to add this and that. They suck.". Though some of you might not have heard anyone say that before, a lot of people do say that. You may not have heard it, but I've heard it many times.

Nowadays there are just way too many people who take this game too seriously. They lose sight of just chillin with some buds and havin some fun. The I-need-to-be-in-the-top100-on-cfm mentality is pretty much at its peak, but whatever. If I were really bugged by these sort of things, I'd be a hypocrite, since I'd take the game too seriously myself.

so yeah, just play with your friends and don't let yourselves be annoyed be changes.

Gzu brings up a good point. I've said for a very long time that CFM and seeing your rank and profile has ruined the intentions of this game. I know of someone who even used hacks to get his rank back up. :/ It's sad.

I loved the older TFM. When all grounds were the same as wood, but different colors.

When everyone had the same brown fur.
When everyone was nice and kind to everyone else, always helping out newer players.
When the old minigames had the same old bots.
When moderators responded to whispers and had a fun time with everyone.
When maps were much simpler.
When events actually had co-opperation and matched the meaning of the event.
When being a pro wasn't important, as long as everyone had fun.
When everyone was a real family.

The new TFM seriously wants me to break down and cry. I always used to play this game 24/7, but now, I see no point, with the swaggers.
With the "pros."
With the rude community.
With the flashy Ke$ha mice with different furs and customizations.
With the goal of being the best instead of having fun.
With the aspect that nobody matters on the game.

That no one matters except for themselves, and that only they deserved firsts, and always swear and ban the newer players for being "noobs."

Back then, noobs was a forbidden word in the world of The Great TransForMice, where everyone worshipped the great Anvil God and never imagined TransForMice as a place to swear and be innapropriate.

God, why are times so obsolete, and why are changes so cruel and sad? ;;

As much as we all have nostalgia on the old tfm, like how the community was WAYY MUCH better.
i think we have to ... move on.
everything changes... so...
look we used to be different too..
do i complain to myself for being different? i cant.. i can only move on..
but Memories and Nostalgia can stay, even though they do not exist now...
but no point fighting back... no point...

Transformice has changed a lot over time, and not necessarily for the better...

The game used to be about having fun, now it's mainly about stats for a big part of the community - the CFM leaderboards surely played a large role in this development. The community has changed not only in terms of increased statpadding, but also in demographics. It's much bigger now, and the average age of the players seems to be lower. I don't agree with the notion that the old community was one big family and everyone was nice (the word "noob" was actually used quite frequently). However, the majority of players was indeed more respectful back then. For example, most BR people who came to the EN server would try to speak English or at least not spam the whole chat in their language; nowadays it's not uncommon to see a bunch of BRs literally invade an EN room only to insult the other players. (But that's likely because those invaders are little kids who feel the need to act tough, not because of their nationality.)

The game itself has turned from being simple to something that feels very overloaded to me. I don't play in normal rooms anymore, because I can't stand all those "art" maps and laggy mechanisms, maps plastered with brightly colored decorations or, even worse, the color grounds which stick out of the game's already messy artwork like sore thumbs. And the mice now wear zebra furs and neon-colored abominations of hats...
I'm really glad that backgrounds and decorations are not allowed in racing, and that I can disable clothes with /nue. Otherwise, this game would become too much of an eyesore to me - and too laggy, because my computer is not the fastest one at processing complex graphics.

Then there were various gameplay updates... Some worked out pretty well (official racing, modules), while others seem to have missed the mark (official survivor, the still-missing official tribewar, other minigames that got lost). And now the shaman update which may or may not ruin the shaman aspect of the game (I don't have much hope here, to be honest). I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens...

Purdygirly a dit :
Back then, noobs was a forbidden word in the world of The Great TransForMice, where everyone worshipped the great Anvil God and never imagined TransForMice as a place to swear and be innapropriate.

bahahaha, nothing against you, but your vision of transformice in those aspects is so blinded. swearing was always a prominent thing in the chat. so was calling new people noobs. forbidden word? haha, good one. did you even play the same game as me? well, and that anvil god part is just a romanticized vision of an old and unfunny joke (although at the start it was a lil funny).

overall, some people seem to think the golden ages of the internet equal the golden ages of tfm. guys, the community of this game was never a flower plucking, cherry munching, tune whistling and excitedly hopping bunch of the closest kind of friends imaginable. words like n00b have been known for quite some time, so why wouldn't users back then have used them? maybe you didn't know this, but...tfm was established in the web2.0 ages!

Yeah, it would be nice if people stopped tainting P3 those ridiculous sticky/booster grounds in bootcamp. They look awful and 80% of people have no idea what to do on them.
