Too many under-aged?

I'm going to be one sided on this arguement

under aged kids tend to be annoying (probably because they are trying to please older kids?), especially on the en chat thread

Nah, the 13+ is a flimsy rule anyways. Same with the name thing

I wouldn't call COPPA very flimsy, the only issue is that it can't be policed properly unless Atelier sets up a method of sending parental permission.

It already is.

It would probably involve a fax number or providing a form and a physical address.

I think what is happening here is that society's technology is soaring but, with no instruction manual.

Back in my day (20+ years) we didn't have any hardcore internet things or iphones ect. and required actual face to face interaction to converse with people that help strengthen social skills (as kids) and learn what is appropriate to say and what isn't.

Now kids are exposed to so much going on thanks to Youtube, online games and well you name it with parents gifting a 6 year old with an ipad (I know a family who actually did this) but obviously parents can't monitor them or they aren't taught proper internet skills and usually do not get any consequences for what they say. On that note, most have no idea what some of those words mean or don't understand the gravity for what they actually say (consequence, lack of understanding ect.)

At least that is how I think of how some of these kids act on TFM (that or they have serious real life problems and vent their frustration out on the forums here)

I don't know, maybe I'm just spouting nonsense, but that is how I think about the influx of underaged kids. I don't agree with their actions but one must also think about how they got there in the first place. (One word: Peers.)

Well I meant 24/7. Speaking from my mom's perspective it is hard to keep track of 3 kids who like video games/computers lmao.

I got monitored until I was 12, when I got my own laptop. My parents are pretty easy about what I do/go on b/c I was part of a couple of forums then and they didn't seem to care. It's really just a matter of trust that a parent can have in a child, I wasn't particularly adventurous or anything so

i've not been swearing so much lately, i've realized i should just act like my age
then again i am a tomboy so that whole acting like my age thing isn't completely here, i act older than i actually am just so i don't annoy people to death. i don't know what to do.

Swearing is normal. Almost everyone in the internet swears. Also, if every single person would be banned for swearing, almost everybody would quit.

kids swearing irl is also not cool at all and i don't condone it, i don't mind adults swearing
