I hear this often but let me explain:
I am fully capable of rendering a photorealistic scene in graphite and charcoal, I can even render spot-on portraits, but you never see me draw still life's and backgrounds because
A. I can already do them
B. I don't have software powerful enough and which I understand enough to render them as I can in real life.
If I knew how to draw the most spectacular cartoons, mice and humans alike, then I wouldn't be here trying desperately to figure it out. When I really, truely understand what I'm doing and find the elusive formular to spectacular mice cartoons, then I will certainly draw them with backgrounds, but to allow backgrounds to take time away from my major problem areas is a bad bad idea at the moment... But one day I will be in a place that no drawing would be without one

You know, I always assumed my art changes due to hard word and study, but it turns out I... I'm just disgustingly inconsistent. Anyway, I feel like I'm on a cusp of a breakthrough but the forms slip though my fat, shaky fingers. My latest worthy sketches including a before and after meme (drawn only 24 hours apart) will be uploaded tomorrow.

I actually wonder how close am I to becoming the objectively best artist on the site (there will be people who hate me for personal reasons and of course there's nonobjective bias, but if hypothetically speaking there was an anonymous, large-scale vote... I don't think I'd be far off the mark now so just imagine by the end of the year....)
