[MAPS] Balloon Mice Count (MC) Property |
0 | ||
While trying to make a map for balloon category of this month's mapmaking contest, the idea behind my map was foiled by the inability of mice to pop balloons quickly enough. @3150168 In a room of roughly 25 mice and balloon-jumping gameplay (in other words, the weight of everyone on the first few balloons simultaneously), the first balloon never popped. Ideally, the first balloon would always pop, and the following balloons would also pop albeit progressively slower with fewer mice. The solution? The "mc" property. This would essentially tell the game how many mice a balloon could wishstand before popping. We could not only speed up the first balloon's popping in this map, but progressively make balloons behind it easier to pop to further speed up gameplay in medium-sized and smaller rooms. How else could this property be utilized? • An "unpoppable" balloon could be created with various uses. • An "instant pop" balloon could be created with various race-based uses, such as ensuring a user a first or a boost for reaching a certain point in a map the fastest. • More balance and control over balloon-based gameplay dependent on the spirit-pop factor. How does it work? Similarly to the new "mv" (motor velocity) and "mp" (motor power) properties for motors, the "mc" (mice count") property would be an XML-exclusive property specifically for the balloon object. The "mc" property would essentially control how many mice stand on a balloon before it pops. I'm unsure how many mice are required by default, but I'm sure the number of mice decides whether or not a balloon pops--other objects nor even stronger gravity have any effect. Likewise, you cannot pop a balloon alone or with too few people, so it's definitely mice-based. Opinions? |

Support, sometimes I would like to have a balloon that doesn't pop until a specific time, this would be useful. Or balloons that instapop as you said. |

I think this suggestion is still cool, regardless if it was necrobump'ed however the one issue that I see here is that each map would have a different balloon setting, which in general would be very confusing since you'd have to play around with every different map that supports a different balloon force threshold. I think this would result in a bunch of confused lesser-experienced players trying to fly on very inconsistent balloons. |
