Survivor Etiquette |

Survivor is an exciting and enjoyable minigame that provides an adrenaline rush like none other in TFM. It's a stronger, more definitive PvP experience than racing could ever be. The skill set required to survive is also a great combination of both core basic and advanced skills (walljumping, overhangs, etc.) and unique, equally challenging to master skills found only in survivor (cannon riding, cannon jumps, etc.). Survivor is a wonderful minigame. The downside? Noobs. Complete and total noobs. Would you like to be a skilled survivor? Are you called a noob shaman and perhaps would like to change that title to "pro shaman"? Consider the following "rules of etiquette" for survivor. The first 4 are pretty obvious, the next 2 even experienced shamans could improve upon considering, and the last one serves to police breakers of the first 6. This code of conduct in survivor could greatly enhance the experience for both the mice and shaman and create a more fulfilling and balanced PvP experience within it. THE BASICS 1. No hugging This is the most pronounced issue in survivor: relentless hugs and kisses to the unwilling recipient: the shaman. Nobody likes a hugger. Neither the room nor the shaman. It's a noob tactic and the introduction of meep does anything but justify it. We aren't impressed by your surviving meep. We can all do it. Stop hugging and play the game. 2. No favoritism This is the second most pronounced issue in survivor: someone saving one or two particular mice and killing everyone else. Nobody appreciates this. It defeats the entire purpose of playing the game for one and for two it pisses off everyone working hard to survive because it's a blatantly unfair advantage. You shouldn't even have to be told not to favo. 3. Do not target a single mouse or group This is no different than favoritism whether or not it's intentional. More often then naught, the survivor(s) are the ones who were never in any danger to begin with while those who died essentially died while dodging cannons to save time for the lazy mice who don't deserve to win. So stop being lazy and kill everyone. 4. Do not abuse unrestricted shaman abilities This applies to you, the box noob; you, the blocker; and you, the worst of all: god totem users. This is an unfair advantage that just makes surviving luck and not fun at all. Since you gain absolutely nothing from how many mice you kill, please shaman the right way. It's more fun for everyone. We know you can kill the whole room being a noob. We don't respect you for it. OFTEN OVERLOOKED 5. The winner should not be the mouse who survives the least There's a common concept of the "sole survivor" being entitled to win in survivor. This is all fine and dandy, but the sole survivor should not be the one who did the least surviving. Refer to rule 3 to help eliminate this issue and also use proper judgment when deciding whether or not to spare the "sole survivor": did they endure as many cannons as the rest of the room? Or did they get lucky and reach a higher platform and then you just ignored them? Nobody will appreciate you helping them for the latter reason. 6. If anyone deserves a break, it's those who've earned it There's a ridiculous trend in survivor where shamans continuously bombard mice who, for instance, remained on the upper level of a multi-level map while mice who fell down are taking a nap in safety; or begin to target mice who reach a higher platform. In other words, mice who demonstrate more skill are more subject to being killed while the laziest and newbiest mice are safe to sit there and not even try. The best way to prevent this backwards practice of killing the mice who deserve to live and saving those who aren't as skilled is to both refer back to rule 3 and also just plain use common sense: you've been spamming cannons in this spot the most, the mice who managed to hold their ground deserve less attacks if anything. Test the mettle of those mice who couldn't hold their ground if you want some KOs. KARMA 7. Deal with the noobs first My favorite personal rule: deal with the noobs first. In other words, kill the huggers. Or, if you have to choose, kill the shaman who keeps using their god totem. The benefit of doing so? You won't see them shaman quite so soon. When your subconscious tells you to choose what direction your cannon is going to go, put a little conscious thought into who deserves it. DISCUSS Is there anything you'd like to add? Common pet peeves you come up with while playing survivor? Violations shamans or mice may commit unknowingly which they should be informed of? You could even just rant about the current state of survivor and provide some examples of good names (props) and bad names (god totems, consistent huggers, blockers, etc.) to look out for or handle with harsh justice. |

Personally, I prefer to be the center of attention. If the sham happens to focus on me I could care less if half the room still happens to be alive in the safty of another area. The whole fun of survivor is using your skills to survive. It is why I find hugging so pointless. If you don't like dodging cannons why play? I also don't have a problem with any of the sham abilities minus making gods and lame totems. Boxes, blocking, spirit, portals, and so on however can routinely be survived with skill. One ettiquite thing that does annoy me is shams that won't kill or will ask, do you want to live or die at the start of a map. Then, you get a bunch of people that for some reason don't actually like to try and survive yelling live... If you seriously don't want to kill just jump off the ledge at the start of the map so it only takes 20 secs to cycle through. Spending an entire map doing nothing gets boring fast. I also wish vampire maps would take a flying leap, but that is under the admins control not basic users. |

Krissim a dit : I of course agree that surviving is the whole point and most fun as a mouse, but I personally find being the shaman to be the most fun period. You're definitely the center of attention then as well. It sucks when you're killed and all your skill went to was ensuring lazy mice survived so you have to wait even longer for your turn. |

I think people are getting a little bit overboard with the no boxes or anything rule A shaman spawned a box, which he never ended up touching again and he was called noob by everyone. The people who deserve to win are probably those who can dodge most objects anyway. And for targeting the 'noob' players - kill everyone xD |

Nicely thought out, Fxie ^^ You should also add there are Survivor Tutors available to assist with any skill a mouse wants to learn ^^ |

I have many things want to say. first of all I agree most of the rules, but I would like to discuss in detail. Hug or being hug? Some shaman actively hug you then meep,in plenty of maps,we can survive. But in some maps like @304198, @303750 or @290865.Shaman came down, then ready to meep. Although when he comes,I can pass through him and stay at the other side, shaman can meeps in time and kill me still.I choose to hug. Personally to determine hug or not, here are some rules in my mind. You can hug when 1.Shaman actively hugs you; 2.You cannot move to other gounds,or,other same/above level of grounds(higher level of it means there is more safer) 3.Once you leave this ground, you cannot get back by yourself 4.The grounds you stay are smaller than 200 units and it's the lowest ground. Spawn hug? Few months ago I was playing survivor in these two maps,@797964,@521931,@802975..... I was said as spawn hug.Just like the name,I hug shaman's spawn area, like hugging verticallyIs it right or wrong? My reason to spwan hug is,I will die if shaman use big box to kill me. Using other trick to kill? Spawing one portal under the deadline, and spawn the other one at a necessary point for mice. Or,spawned a ghost plank on ground, then mice are harder to dodge the cannons. While I did these, someone said that I'm a noob. Am I correct ot wrong? and the last thing, the rules are good and necessary, but how many of them read it?who will follow it?There's an other question....... |

Siuker a dit : Firstly: You should never hug. (Spawn hugging included) Secondly: There's nothing wrong with using portals or planks to kill mice. Many of the old pro's use planks to effectively kill mice in large numbers. Thirdly: This topic is to inform mice what not to do and what to do in Survivor. In time, they will follow it, as they see why these rules are actually rules. If you know what I mean. Hopefully this answered all your questions ^^ |

Irishcow a dit : agreed with the boards part ^^ good times :p But to my point before meep and hotkeys survivor was a game of smarts and skills IT WASNT EASY to kill mice thats what made it fun but now with meep and hotkeys anyone can do it if they hit space the maps were simple mostly AND SERVED THEIR EFFING PURPOSE now everything has to be perfect looking and have pretty colors I MISS the days of simple wood grass and stone sometimes ground i mean @500312 its simple effective the sham and mice have an equal advantage it isnt all about pretty colors or intrigueing patterns THAT IS P5 AND SHIT AND STUFF SURVIVOR is about getting the job done as fast and efficient as you can be without making your self look stupid by spamming meep Me and irish both went to room survivor7 EVERY day before school i went there Why? because those guys actually gave a damn and played well and had good sportsmanship when they lost not spamming NOOOOB AHAHHAHAHAH JUST USE MEEP U FAG LOLOOOOOLOOLOL THEY INCOURAGED them they told them what to do/ THE ONLY REASON I STILL PLAY TFM is because of survivor i made so many friends from it i would never leave it because they were nice people Now s7 is one of the worst cases meeps everywhere hotkeys ANVIL GODS why? there are quite literally only 1 rule there no hacking -.- It used to be a game now its room 69 with different maps and worse players THE ONLY room that has good survivor is *s ONLY ROOM! why cant we get more rooms with the stuff we used to nostalgia about i used to go tell my friends about my wicked bloon kills with boxs or shit and stuff but NOW? all i say is yeah went to *s kicked some ass Bring back the rules +1 sorry for the rant but in the mood |

[Cookieslayer] im a nub and i dont use hotkeys? [Erzonlpakno] hotkey are for nubs [Deoxysatk] ill never hotkey aagain unless majority are yes. No cheese for you! ^_^ [Deoxysatk] hotkey nb [Beastylike] lol nub [Spudlie] Lolz I personally see nothing wrong with hotkeys if you don't just sit there and spam cannons in one spot. When the shaman is cannonjumping with hotkeys, fuck off, they're better than you sitting there in one spot thinking dragging makes you pro. |
Enemymule « Citoyen » 1352669640000

^ yeah that but its the lag factor with hotkeys that makes them practically instantaneous which makes nearly impossible to dodge and some reason people think if you can cannon jump you are instantly pro which is so not true |

Add hotkeys. It isn't part of the old survivor. |

Delatex a dit : To be honest old doesn't = better. Honestly looks to me like people who got good at dragging are just upset that bothersome "skill" is outdated. |
