[GROUND] Outline Property for Colored Grounds |
0 | ||
I don't want to post this in small suggestions for it to never be seen, and I have a lot of stuff to say and believe this update would hugely promote art maps. Basically I'm proposing that we have two additional properties for circles and rectangles: outline width & color. By default, there would be no outline and no color in the XML unless an outline width is set (for compliance with prior maps). The benefits? • Most art that relies on outlines would thrive without fear of the 50 ground limit. • Outlines could be applied to circle/rectangle grounds (circle in particular) to represent properties, like red for high restitution, without conflicting with their colored uses. • More proficient artists could implement outlines into their shading techniques to further reduce their ground usage in art maps. • Overall, art maps would flourish as a result. Here's an example of an art map I've made using simulated outlines by layering grounds. It's ground-consuming and wasteful number-wise, but creates the desired effect which really defines the picture. |

That "gradation/shading" effect need many ground(s) if not doing it right. I support yours Fxie.. Go Art =] |

1. I think the color should be in the XML because we can do ''fffffffffffffff'' color <-- with too many f's and it makes the ground invisible. This is important for the mapmakers i think. |

Arber a dit : Erm... what? As stated, there would be color if there's an outline... if there's no outline, however, why in the world would you need outline color? There's nothing to see anyway. Perhaps you misread my post. |

First of all, that map is awesome, secondly I support, outline would be quite cool. |

Thank you. Just going to bump this up now... |

This is a really good idea. 50 grounds with 50 colors is very laggy right now. I wonder if 50 grounds with 100 colors would increase lag. But I like it. |

Dablizzack a dit : The graphics don't lag gameplay, the grounds do. The problem with 50 grounds is that all 50 grounds run through TWO collision checks: with mice and with other grounds/shaman objects. However, outlines would merely increase the collision radius of circles and hitboxes of rectangles rather than counting for two separate grounds. After all, grass grounds have multiple colors, but a ton of grass grounds are no laggier than a ton of rectangle grounds, right? |

Support! I'm just starting to mess with maps, and putting in an entire new object to create shading is tiresome. 50 grounds with 50 colors might increase lag, But if we could knock it down to 25 grounds with 50 colors (Since we'd need fewer ground objects), that might actually HELP lag. |

Seems good to me, support. |

Support. Great idea, maybe I would be able to make art maps if this was approved. |

Sarakat a dit : Yes, outlines add a lot of desired effect to art but currently take up so many grounds, most artwork hits the 50 ground limit with them! |

One MILLION percent approval. This would be so much help with art maps. Would be Awesome to see this implemented. |

/support When I'm making art maps I have to outline it with a darker ground which would take time and it would, overall, look messy. |

Indeed so. |
