[Shamaning] Setting your own hotkeys

Right now we have the number keys (1-9) as hotkeys for different shaman items. My idea is to allow players to choose which item belongs to which key. This way players can even hotkey some of the new abilities they unlock!

I made two images to display what I think this could look like. The first is the general overview of your hotkeys. To change one, you would click the button. So if you want to change the 5th hotkey, you click the number 5 or the small crate associated to it. Then you get to the second image, where you either click a new item to set as new hotkey, or cancel to return without changing anything.

Feedback is appreciated. I'm looking for screenshots of people with a lot of abilities unlocked so I can update the second image. I only have a few myself ^^' Also do note that I left cannons out on purpose.

This is just a quick look around and I found these 4 threads, but I know there's more! Silly Lemon. Either way, with the images you've presented it's a lot clearer what the idea is, although I'm not too fond of the first one and using them isn't particularly clear.

Why limit hotkeys to just numbers, too, if it'd be customisable?

and yeah I'll maybe talk to some sentinel. I like my thread better than the ones you linked to.. some are so short or badly written they got archived and one is more or less complaining about how hotkeys were (accidentally) removed for a short while.

Yeah, this thread is better than the ones I'd linked to. That animation makes it clearer as to what you want but I can't help but feel the UI could all be clean, innovative, and on one screen :(

would hotkeys have to be 1-9? can't there be 0 or like ice used to be f as hotkey

I have an idea to make both you and shamousey happy :P I'll make a new image later today.

Scratch this. So far every idea that does this in one screen looks ugly ;; Changing the hotkeys itself could possibly be done by just clicking the hotkey itself, for example the "1" for the arrow. This could look like this (animated gif): Click

I don't think anyone would want more than 9 hotkeys (though I may be wrong) so I won't bother with buttons for adding/removing hotkeys altogether. Obviously the game should reject keystrokes that conflict with other game functionality (for example "K" shouldn't be set as a hotkey, as it's in use).
