[Gameplay] XP Levels for Maps |

So the XP system is alright, and I certainly enjoy the skills you can buy with it. But compared with other games that have XP and levels in them, it's broken. Here's why: 1. Every level takes more XP to reach, but you continue to earn the same XP from getting cheese and from Shaman. In most games, as you level up, you gain access to better "encounters" that earn more XP. For example, at first level the standard encounter might earn you 10 XP, but at second, you would get a harder encounter that earns you 20. 2. XP rewards easy shaman maps. Ever had a map where you just run to the cheese? Not fun at all for anyone, but tremendously rewarding. On the other hand, if you get a difficult map and triumph with only 20 seconds remaining, all the AFKs are dead and perhaps only a few mice go in, earning you only a few points. So how do we fix these two problems? Turns out you can do it with only one feature, and that is assigning levels to maps. What this would do is give harder maps a bigger reward for mice. Levels would go from 1 to 5, and the XP reward would be level*5*mice saved. So saving 20 mice on a level 1 map gives you 100 points, but on a level 5 map gives you 500. These levels would be assigned by the map crew to prevent abuse, and would only apply to map crew maps. User maps would have a default of level 2. What we can also do with this feature is make the higher level maps unlockable at certain mouse levels. They wouldn't be unlockable at too high a level, so don't worry about not being able to get a challenge. Instead, they would prevent the noobs from getting really hard maps and failing, and allow the pros to get maps that can really level them up. Here's what I'm thinking: Mouse levels 1-4: Level 1 and Level 2 maps Mouse level 5: Unlock Level 3 Mouse level 10: Unlock Level 4 Mouse level 20: Unlock Level 5 Now as an optional feature, you should be able to choose what level of maps you get as shaman. If you only want easy maps, you can set it to only give you level 1 maps, even if you're level 30. On the other hand, you could also set it to only level 5 maps. With double shaman maps, it's a little harder to calculate. I'd say the map level can be no higher than the level than the lowest-leveled shaman can play alone. For example, if there is a level 30 shaman and a level 7, the map level can't be higher than 3. So that's it for my suggestion. What do you think, everyone? |

The map levels is exactly what room shaman had to level up faster. Although the higher level you are, you do get more skills to help you get easier saves, so it balances out in that respect. |

I really liked the system in room shaman, actually. I wish being shaman on a normal map could always be so interesting (and challenging). |

Really cool idea, though I'm not sure if they can "assign" maps to specific mice, like you said in choosing what level maps you get. Not to mention sorting all the shaman maps into five levels. But if it is possible, I would love to see this happen because waiting forever for your shaman turn and then getting a super easy map is really disappointing. |
