I bought Tales of the Abyss on my 3DS.

It's pretty fun, I like the characters. I'm at the part where you leave Baticul and go to the Desert Ruins.

Are the characters as generic as I expected them to be?
Hell, even if they are, I'd still probably like the game anyway. I got it for my girlami on her birthday since she loves the series and whatnot, but I haven't played it or any other Tales of game myself.

Also hi I'm renting Bully next because I want to play ConSumo again. Best part of that game, somehow.

My only experience with Tales games before this was a few hours of Tales of Phantasia way back.
The characters in this game are based off of the regular JRPG archtypes but the game tries to explore the characters and the cliché that we’re familiar with, in a good way. I’m not too far into the game but I can safely say that the characters are more than the shallow “spoiled brat who becomes nicer over the course of the adventure” or “tsundere princess girl”
I’m enjoying myself so far, but the big plot twists haven’t hit yet and I’m not sure if they’ll be good or bullshit.
I’ve heard that the best in the series are Abyss, Symphonia and Vesperia. Does anyone else who’s familiar with the series recommend anything?

The game really got going when you got the bottle rocket and spud gun
That mission where you have to infiltrate a nerd base while he shoots you from far away was great!
So was the stealth one when you sneak into the girl's dorm.

Best minigame in the game was that F-Zero esque futuristic racing game. Really liked it for some reason.

I was expecting a "Video Games General Game Of The Year Edition; Now with more discussion", but the title is as or better.

I'm happy Lollipop Chainsaw got some great reviews. Like 36/40 from Famitsu, but 5/10 from IGN (lmao) from the editor taking the game seriously. I haven't played it, but it looks quite fun. Can anyone give some comments about the game?

Really People? Just because you dont get your own screen doesn't mean it's totally broken. But that's what Patches are for.

Tales was great; loved the soundtrack, leveling, character development. I wish I'd knew how far you were into the game, 'cause I don't want to give away any spoilers. As soon as I got through with it, sold my 3DS with all the games and bought a shitload of records and now I'm sticking to TF2.

I always thought that girls liked more playing as a female character.
I'm neutral when it's about choose gender, but I believe that gaming needs more memorable female characters.

Yeah, female or male. I like male characters more, though. Link, Red, Mario, you name him, I've most likely played him ._.
But you're right... there does. There as always the female character in Silent Hill 3... I think... what's her name? Heather, I think. There are female options sometimes, but I never complain about having to play as a male. In fact, in Left 4 Dead, I've played EVERY character but the gurl, Rochelle [I like Ellis ._.].
I also feel some guys only choose the gurls for the sex appeal, like in Mortal Kombat D:

Link has been my favorite EVER video game character. I'm a bit jealous [a bit is the biggest understatment of all] of Princess Zelda x-x. During and after Twilight Princess, he was REALLY cute -fangurl scream-!!

I guess I don't like playing gurl characters because I got so used to playing male characters... though when playing Grand Fantasia, Everquest, and Pokemon I always chose women/females, and I don't mind playing gurls when it's an animal, like in Okami. Izat how it's spelled? The one with the wolf? Love that game. The art is freakin' amazing!

That's pretty much all you'll get with the localized Tales games. I love them all equally and they should supply you with hours upon hours of gameplay. I wouldn't bother with Legendia. IMO, it's the worst Tales game. Even Phantasia for the GBA is better with its god-awful voice acting. I'd also recommend Tales of Graces f, which was just localized a few months ago. It has the best gameplay out of all the Tales games I've played. If you'd wanna think about it, Tales of Xillia was just announced for a US release sometime in 2013. After all the hate I've seen for the game though, I'm not too excited about it.

Forgot about Symphonia 2. The general population of the Tales fans don't like it, but I found some enjoyment out of it. I think it's worth a try.

It's funny how everyone says that Okami is an underrated gem that nobody has played but I have found loads of people who've really enjoyed it.

Also I'm surprised you talked about females in video games but didn't mention Samus.

I just got into Metroid a while back, really enjoyed Fusion and Zero Mission and am playing through Prime, but it's tough to go back to Super Metroid after playing the GBA games ;_;

The main reason I avoided the Metroid series for years despite it being one of Nintendo's flagship franchises was because from what I'd heard it was just backtracking in cramped environments. When I got Metroid Fusion as an ambassador title on my 3DS for free I thought 'why not' and played it and LOVED it.
I'd say give it a try, it's really addictive. Exploring, finding new powerups and abilities is a lot of fun. Trust me, it's a lot better than it looks in letsplays and other videos.

Just finished Mario and Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story for the second time. The final boss music is still awesome.

The one with Summer Forest, Autumn Plains, and Winter Tundra. The music was so gentle, sometimes I find it on Youtube, download it, and fall asleep to it xD.

I've played through EarthBound tons of times, it was THE game for me as a kid. I used to visit starmen.net every day and read the craziest of theories they came up with and watched all the localization campaigns for Mother 3/EarthBound on Virtual Console.
