Optional Supporter Subscription |

If this has been suggested before I couldn't find it (searched by title, so it could be under some weirdly named thread). So this idea kind of spun out of a discussion I was having with some guys I still occasionally game with, who used to play TFM. Basically the idea is to add an optional payed monthly subscription that gives some benefits. Obviously these benefits would only be available if you have an active subscription. This would allow players to support the game they like, while gaining a few benefits for doing so. It would also allow for the removal of the collector system which seems to be very unpopular. There are many free to play games that successfully implemented such systems, and there is no reason TFM can't be one of them. Edit for clarification/emphasis (ie. please read this it's an important note about the list in the spoilers): As there seems to be some confusion regarding the list I had created I have decided to spoiler it. The list in the spoiler are ideas for possible benefits of a supporter subscription ONLY. I am not suggesting that any or all of them be added; they are ideas and nothing more. This suggestion is about having an optional supporter subscription with a few benefits attached to it, as a way for players to help support the game and as an alternative to using things like the collector system. I'm sure there are more ideas, and I'll add them to the spoiler list if people suggest them provided they are not pay2win things or troll ideas. Possible ideas that were thrown about:
Bonus Cheese/EXP were brandied about, but they reek way too much of pay2win. Free customize on any item was as well, but could cause a few problems with bought permanent customization. Dernière modification le 1557839460000 |

it is a really bad idea to give customizable titles or such as they can be used wrong. Also, customizable furs would cause a lot of confusion imo as they can be made into neon colors, etc and it would really hurt your eyes. Also, the customized neon duck would not be a pleasure to the eyes. so no support. sorry Dernière modification le 1557613860000 |

Vilchu a dit : The chat can also be used wrong, but that's what we have mods for. If custom titles were ever implemented in some form (even if not part of this suggestion) they should be treated with the same rules as chat. I can make some pretty hideous monstrosities just fine without custom furs... I'm not suggesting that any of the ideas be added, or not added. The suggestion is about having an optional supporter subscription, with a few non-pay2win benefits to make people want to buy it. As I said in the OP the listed ideas were only ideas that were thrown about during the discussion that I was having. I'll add more ideas to the list if people suggest more. Whether some of them or all of them were implemented (or not) would ultimately be up to the admins. Edited the OP for some clarification Dernière modification le 1557615780000 |

/no support Clearly too overpowered. Also, I liked the simplicity of the game, you never would need to spend your money to get titles, badges or items. This would make it pay-to-win. |

Syrius a dit : Can you please re-read the suggestion. Specifically the text in red color. Syrius a dit : I take issue with this. "Pay-to-win" would be doing something like extra EXP/Cheese for supporters, or hiding part of or all of the skill tree behind the subscription. I specifically discourage those kinds of things in the OP. edit: Screw it. I've edited the OP again to (hopefully) clear up the confusion regarding that list. Dernière modification le 1557839520000 |

I did read that, however your idea isn't compelling without any of the examples. If you creatie a suggestion, you must expect that people will extract the idea as a whole concept instead of trying to guess what is good and whatnot. |

Syrius a dit : While in some cases you may be correct, I'm not going to believe it for one second in yours. Despite the list not containing any such elements, and the post even actively discouraging such elements, you specifically called the suggestion "pay-to-win". I would like you to explain why. |

Because it gives extremely overpowered things. For example, custom fur color completely eradicates the point to get new color furs just because you can copy them. Custom titles? Who does need upgrading your stats when you can just copy an advanced title? Name color? fAnCy rAiNbOW wOrLd... But for the pay-to-win I meant the fact that every buyable thing still can be achieved without paying money. This takes that free-to-play simplicity away, you want a feature? yOu mUsT pAy |

Which brings me back to the point of that list being ideas for possible benefits. Hence, the emphasis I have been trying to put on that. Nobody, least of all me, said those particular ideas were perfect... however due to the simplicity of the game the ideas you can use with it are extremely limited. To address each of your points: Customizable Furs - you can copy colors, sure, but you can hardly copy design. The same is true with any item you can customize. With few exceptions, mainly being the plain colors, each fur has a unique design. Even if you change the color those unique traits will still stand out. Custom Title - Somewhat valid concern, for people who actually care about stats, but is there any particular reason why existing titles can't be restricted from being used? I'm fairly certain that could be done automatically, similar to how word filtering replaces words with symbols or other words. Name Color - Not sure what your complaint really is here, as the ability to customize items can already be really cancer if you wanted it to be. Syrius a dit : OK wall-of-text time (turned out to be a bit longer than I intended, but I wanted to be clear on my perspective). "Pay-to-win" comes with the implication that it provides with with some advantageous benefit to gameplay that would put you ahead of other players. Double EXP, double cheese, and exclusive Shaman skills are all examples of this. None of the ideas in that list fit in to that category, nor would I add any such ideas to that list. With a suggestion like this one you need something, possibly even multiple things, that are unique in order to encourage players to pay in to it. If you can simply get it without paying for it, why would you bother? Unlike shop items it is not a one-time payment, but a monthly one (or multi-month). This is little different than becoming, for example, a backer on a Kickstarter campaign aside from being available any time to anyone who wants it. The unfortunate reality is that the collector system already takes away that "simplicity". The fashion squad also does this (get a discount but ONLY if you pay for it). It's very easy to say "lol well just save your cheese and buy it instead of buying fraise!" but considering the amount of content is being pumped in to the collector system that ideal is going to be out of reach unless you want to be cheese farming for hours a day, every day. Considering the casual nature of the game, that isn't realistic. spoiler because this is both on and off topic Any game needs a stable source of income to function. No income? No game. A801 has kept it fair, focusing purely on cosmetic items, and when TFM had millions, or even tens of thousands, of players the income would have been fine as it is. As the player-base shrinks that source of income becomes more an more unstable, and you will start seeing more things like the collector system and fashion squad which are specifically designed to incentivize the purchase of fraise. At some point you may even see a very drastic increase in the cheese cost of items in order to try to encourage players to buy fraise. Without a drastic increase in players (which would require moving to a new technology, as well as mobile version) that trend is unlikely to change. Even ignoring the inevitable death of Flash, mobile and mobile-supported casual gaming is where the casual gaming market has gone. |

I don't actually know what to say. It has it's pros and cons. Like it could be abused but at the same time there are the rule-following players who would follow the guidelines easily. ![]() |
