I see two problems with this suggestion. My first problem is that this is a fundamental change to the game and I fear that it will cause more harm than good with the remainder of the player base, even if the base game is still free. My second issue is that this game is way too old to implement a system like this and I don't think most people would be into buying these subscriptions because of game devaluing (since the game has always been free at its very core with the option to buy cosmetics only) so why would they be inclined to purchase these subscriptions when the game value has always been free. Looks like the typical patreon sub page. /no support There are other ways to gain money, other than making the game/s more and more p2w. |

They will just alienate the fanbase and look like sellouts even more. Just imagine what kind of backslash this would receive... /no support |

I don't see why they would need an exclusive chat or discord channel. That just feels like it would split the community for no good reason. The fraise per month also seems like a bad idea. The uses for fraise are limited to cosmetics, and once you have all the items you want... then what? You end up stacking a bunch of "free" fraises for no reason? Not everyone cares for those tacky starred titles. The end result is that there are a bunch of people who would not buy fraises because some VIP friends of theirs could just gift them whatever. Am I the only one supporting this? The general intention here is not too bad actually, but the offered solution...not so much. First thing first on what really kills your suggestion is making it as a monthly subscription, which is one of the things that really ruins it. I think that offering only a one-time only purchase by making it as supporting the game in return of for a unique title and your aforementioned other things you get upon purchase. Just leave the cheapest one out there, scratch out the rest, including exclusive items as this also just not fitting there. Restamping it instead of VIP better name it as Support(-er) pack, all things considered. However with the other things taken in mind and that this suggestion probably still needs to work on, /halfsupport |

@Ae_86: I'm on the fence about this kind of idea in general. I think it's a good idea, so long as it doesn't become p2w type deal. I wouldn't really say that you're supporting the idea if you want to turn it in to a one-off thing. Considering the suggestion is about helping A801 with their money problems the idea of turning it in to a one-time thing wouldn't really help much. It would be just another one-time cosmetic. The only way this would actually help is if it was a monthly thing. |

/no support A lack of a monthly subscription is what really made me want to play TFM over other multiplayer flash games. Just don't. |

Good thing is that this isn't P2W, buuut this might cause the admins to favour VIP players over the non-VIP players by listening to them more and not banning them if they broke a game rule. Also, as much as stupid it may sound, but VIP players would form cliques and that in itself would be toxic. I feel that starting a Patreon would be a much better idea to avoid the problems I stated. Calling them donators instead of VIP players sounds much nicer. /half-support |

No game would want a VIP since It would seem unfair to those who can't have VIP, so mabey they should sell merchendice or however you spell it |

the general problem with tfm as a whole is that it's getting very out dated, thus not bringing in enough money. while a "vip" membership would help prolong its life, tfm is very much so out of its prime. adding a monthly membership is not the way to go about this. no one wants to buy a membership for a dying game. even though tfma's kickstarter only reached half, long time fans supported it (myself included) because it was new and exciting, not just because i wanted to support a801 (i still do and that was a factor, but i would not give a801 money on the single premise of supporting them). though these are reasons why i wouldn't support a feature like this, i think there's a still a good way to implement a similar feature but not all the same. for example, look at twitch's subscriber feature. or even patreon as a whole. a vip or membership option would not work in tfm alone. it has to be for a801 as a whole for it to work. tfm is on a failing framework and dying, there is little money and rewards left in it. if you wanted a membership system to work, you would have to set it up similar to patreon. for example, for $5 a month (yes, monthly. the original idea doesn't work monthly but that's not to say others don't) you could get: - a special role on all a801 discords and chat (i don't believe 'segregating players' is an issue. it works fine for many other servers; my experience comes from twitch users. admins favoring 'vip members' is not a big issue. if you don't want to play favorites, then turn off donations. either survive as a company or play small favorites.) - access to seeing more sneak peeks and more behind the scenes - possibly monthly, small rewards in each of a801's games. one month you may get a small voucher for a cosmetic in bouboum, maybe the next you'd get 20 fraises in tfm. small things that entice people but don't generally hurt the company. - maybe a little star by your username, or a slightly different colored user in tfm's profiles or the forums. small things add up, and it doesn't have to be nearly as much stuff as you think. yeah, this still looks like a bit of a sellout. but *every creator, even a game company,* will end out looking like a sellout in their lifetime. you want to call a youtuber a sellout for getting a sponsor or setting up ways for you to give them money? sure. but at least they'll still be able to give you the content (in this case games) that you like. /halfsupport. |
