I made a suggestion of the same name a few years ago but I would like to revisit this suggestion with the game knowledge and experience that I've gathered over the years and try and turn it into something more feasible to implement. I think that having a new shaman mode would encourage players to play the game more as Celestial mode would need to be earned with further advancement and in addition to that, I believe that a new shaman mode would bring something fresh to the game and to be quite honest, a breath of fresh air to a game mechanic that could or could not be considered neglected in recent years by some.

What would be different about Celestial mode?

  • Infinite range. I want to think of Celestial mode as a natural progression and given the theme of increased spawn range, I think Celestial mode should have an infinite range to balance the more difficult parts of this mode.

  • No access to skill tree. A big issue that I have with divine mode is the use of skills as a major safety net which in turn, encourages unstable builds and doesn't teach shamans how to build, but rather how to become reactionary to easily avoidable mistakes with the use of skills. I believe having no skills would encourage more difficulty as well. This isn't entirely unheard of or crazy because you can't use skills in #divinity already.

  • No use of arrows for nails. I love using divine mode and a good way to challenge yourself is by using no nails through the use of arrows. I believe that having no additional nails would be a cool challenge to have in Celestial mode and I would be open to decreasing the current limit if having access to no nails seems too difficult, though it really isn't that hard not to use nails once you learn how to build.

  • More XP. I think this would be a pretty obvious addition. The amount of experience you gain per shaman mode increases due to difficulty. I am not too sure on how much would be fair but I would let the admins figure out how they would want to pursue this.

  • New titles! Of course, this is another obvious addition but having exclusive titles for Celestial mode adds more replayability to the game and to this mode. I have some ideas for titles that I'll include in the next post.

I am willing to hear any criticism or any additional ideas as well. I want to see Celestial mode because I want a mode where you have to put time into understanding the mechanics; divine mode is highly exploitable and I've seen shamans with 10k+ divine mode saves who didn't even know how to build without tape and long planks; I thought that this was a pity because divine mode is a lot of fun and it really increases the skill ceiling of what you can and can't do with divine. Also, having another shaman mode would be awesome for a lot of higher-level shamans to explore with.

Celestial mode potential titles. I figured having them mythology-based would be cool. Numbers are random, not important.

I like this idea and it would bring an unique challenge to people who find shamming in other modes too easy.

That's fine! I just figured it would be cool to do something like that for the highest-achievable shaman mode but to be honest, I don't really care what they are unless they're unique and cool titles worth the advancement through Celestial mode.

I really like this idea, this mode would encourage shamans to be more creative with their builds without using skills that make maps ridiculously easy and would give shaman enthusiasts a challenge, plus it would be really fun. Full support.

Personally I would like to see a modifier to the existing shaman modes that adds benefits to them. Being able to play in easy, hard, or divine without skills and have some sort of recognition for it would be the best case scenario for me as I personally prefer hard mode over divine in most cases because divine is simply too weak to do certain things (without skills). I also think it's downright weird that 95% of the players are using a v-only mode when really it should be something unlocked a little later to give its unlocking some value, and the previous mode a little more use. Changing the game in this way would see skill-less hard mode as a stepping stone between standard hard mode and standard divine mode, allowing it to see more use (Instead of literally everyone's' profiles looking like 40,000 / 3,000 / 35,000. I don't know in terms of stats how this would play out, it would probably be best to not add a new stat to my suggestion, but to just continue using the existing counters and perhaps doubling xp and shaman coin gain as an incentive, and to also implement some obvious indicator the shaman is stripped of their skills in the mode they're playing in.

If this sounds too convoluted, I like your idea too (minus the infinite range, it seems a bit unnecessary to me). I just happen to be a person that prefers hard mode over divine for creativity and usability reasons, not because divine is too hard or anything (I was rank 1 in divinity for a long time!)

e: The totem should also be removed from the no-skills hard mode for obvious reasons

I don't agree that much with infinite range, but everything else is great in my book. I especially agree with giving more XP, since this would drive people to take more challenges in building. Best suggestion I've seen in a long while.

oh man, please use paragraphs next time

I 100% agree that there should be a stepping stone between easy mode and divine mode. Hard mode is given too little attention, despite having been very common in 2011/2012. It's a shame that newer players are missing out on it because making a perfect totem was in itself a challenge let alone building without red nails. This is of course without shaman skills.

I'd like to mention that shaman skills set hard mode and divine mode at the same difficulty, with the exception that divine mode has wider spawn ranger, hence why players switch to divine mode once they get it unlocked immediately.

Something needs to be done about this, but I don't know what solution players would agree with. I think that celestial mode would be a good solution to that without angering the players who play it easy without challenges.

Definitely an interesting idea, it'd be fun to go back to the very old transformice but with a few twists and do raw shaman work without any skills and test your abilities.
Q: Also how many saves would be needed for this mode do you think?

i like the idea of having a new mode that is a lot like divinity (idk if you were going for that but that's what it reminds me of)
