I dont know if someone already put this in suggestions, so tell me if they did. I have seen a topic similar to this one explaining how dumb that update was, but i wanted to make a new one since that thread got lost in the sea of other threads. Also i expect no one to open this since apparently my topics dont shine much but its worth trying. Why am i suggesting this? When this update got launched, it added a bunch of new servers and languages to the game. Which led to people from some countries to be automatically switched to those countries added. Which, hey, making the game available in many languages would attract more people from those countries to play it, right? No. There was lots of negative feedback (of course there was also positive) for this update, because it killed a lot of servers. As well as the one im playing on. It is kinda pointless to make servers for different countries and put them into seperate ones if they already got a server that speaks a similar language to yours (Like how most of the Ex-Yugoslav country players played in the Croatian servers). This just killed a lot of servers and it was kind of a pointless update, it made the community worse rather than making it better for non EN players. And whats the point of adding some small country servers, i doubt any players from those countries even play. (Sorry if you are from one of them??) And its funny how some languages arent even available yet the servers are. Whats the point of adding a server for that specific language if you arent going to translate it (Example: Albanian server, its not translated as far as i saw, correct me if im wrong but i remember it was there before the update) Also I KNOW there are gonna be some EN or International room players who will disagree with this, and sure, its not ruining your servers so you dont have to support this. i agree most of the new servers are dead in the past it was more simpler now there are like 40 new useless servers that nobody plays in mfs didn't even translate some of the servers like if they dont care at all like whyd they add so many new servers if theyre not going to care about it?? its so irresponsible it's sad |

I think it'd be nice to be able to change the language of an interface through the settings, as opposed to making dozens of micro-servers split by language. It just splits up the playerbase even more. |

The way it is now, most communities are completely or mostly dead, with hardly anyone online. And it seems that if there aren't any active normal or vanilla rooms in that community already, newly logged-in players just get sent to an international room instead. That way, smaller communities can never fill up, unless players decide to go there on their own - and why would they, if those rooms are empty? As far as I understand it from the thread linked in the original post, the many different servers were added to make it easier to add new UI languages - presumably because there is only one language selector that is used for both the game language and the community. As Vulli mentioned, it would have made more sense to have fewer communities (i.e. for widespread languages or larger regions - English, Spanish, Scandinavian, Balkan area, etc.) in order to gather more players in each - as it used to be -, and then for players to be able to choose the language and community independently from each other. (Changing the UI language is already possible by using a chat command, but the game doesn't really tell players about it, and it's clumsy.) Would bringing back the old servers revive those dead communities? Who knows. There simply aren't that many players left. (I remember the times when there were 5 Brazilian servers, and the EN server alone had 20+ active vanilla rooms... that was long ago, and the playerbase has shrunken to a tiny fraction of that.) If you are part of a smaller community, you are probably lucky if you can gather enough players together to fill a single room. Given the dwindling playerbase, it is hard to tell which is better - several very small but somewhat active communities, or no smaller communities and a bigger number of international rooms. The small communities would allow their members to play with more "familiar" people and speak their own language without disturbing - or being disturbed by - chats in different languages, but would only offer a very limited number of active rooms, and would make the game as a whole look even emptier by taking players out of international rooms and spreading them thin over tiny servers. Having everyone play in international rooms provides a greater choice of active rooms and game modes to the whole playerbase, but people who want to play with others who speak their language have a harder time finding them, and everyone has to put up with reading/ignoring chats in various languages and dealing with the friction caused by cultural differences - behavior that is considered normal in one culture may be perceived as rude in another, etc. Personally, I don't mind the 'international' chats, and I generally focus more on playing than on socializing, but I can also understand people who would prefer to play and chat with others who speak the same language, and currently have no good way of doing so, since it is hardly possible to get a room filled on smaller communities. |

Thisisnobody a dit : Yeah, the international rooms are actually a good idea, but the only issue i have is the many useless servers splitting up players. Vulli a dit : Good idea, havent thought of that. Dernière modification le 1657733280000 |

the weirdest thing about this "update" (which was a downgrade imo) is the fact that they added servers in remote islands eg marshall islands, samoa, vanuatu, nauru and greenland /support |
