Hello, with this library, which emulates flash you are able to run swf files in browser without flash.
https://ruffle.rs/downloads#website-package
Tested it myself, it runs, however got CORS error.

Hello, I'd like to bump this. Today, I was experimenting with running Transformice with ruffle, as someone was running a crasher on polish rooms, and I was wondering if ruffle would handle it better. (idk if it does, as when I got ruffle running, I couldn't find any crashers)

ofc, the extension/wasm version doesn't work, because browser wants us to use websockets instead and there are CORS errors.
I instead tried running the desktop version of ruffle, with both TransformiceChargeur.swf and TransformiceAIR.swf.
Both seem to be working fine, however running AIR version requires this CLI argument: --player-runtime air

The full cmdline that I'm using right now is: ruffle --power high --no-gui --letterbox off --load-behavior streaming --gamemode on -q high16x16-linear --tcp-connections allow -g gl --player-runtime air ./TransformiceAIR.swf

Outside of my preferences, what's strictly required for Transformice is:
  • --letterbox off - because otherwise we can't see anything outside the map
  • --tcp-connections allow - if missing, we'll need to accept every connection manually when changing rooms

When it comes to issues:
  • I'm getting this issue, as if paddings/margins were broken (apparently it's fixed more than a year ago but it's still wrong in my case) https://github.com/ruffle-rs/ruffle/issues/17143
  • When there are a lot of mouse on screen with HQ sprites (especially visible on fishing events, when everyone that's currently fishing has the HQ sprite visible) the game is VERY laggy, it's way worse than on Adobe AIR

Otherwise, the game is perfectly playable and I don't see any other issues. If Transformice team could additionally offer connection over websockets etc. and would include ruffle wasm on https://www.transformice.com/transformice-swf.html maybe it could bring some life into this game, since the only thing potential new players would have to do is go to the web player and click to play as a guest.

I found this project, but I didn't bother running it, I guess it should provide clues for developers what needs to be changed for ruffle to work: https://github.com/extremq/tfm-browser
