Hello!

For this third version of the Dead Maze alpha, we added a huge load of gameplay features, in order to improve your game experience. Interaction, fun and random will prevail!


I/ What's new?

Interface

  • Map interface displays the numbers of survivors and monsters in the map. The secret passage timer is explained in the "Maps" section.
  • When entering the character customization window, players will be able to choose social clothes, seen by the others, and equip other clothes wich have useful stats for their character (invisible).

The character

  • The attack, death, knockout and damages animations have been redesigned. They are more coherent.
  • When the life bar is empty, the character is knocked out and can be reanimated by another player by simply clicking on him/her.
  • If the player is not reanimated within the 5 minutes of the knock out, they die horribly and return to their camp with no objects in their inventory.
  • Players can click on themselves while knocked out in order to give up and be teleported in their camp (still loosing their items).
  • "Foot in the grave" symptom then displays for the time of one map, and makes it so you die directly if your life bar goes to 0. Be careful!

Zombies

  • General appearance has been redesigned, their running and combat animations have been too.
  • Super zombies (zombies that turn randomly into more tanky ones) give better loot than before.
  • A new special zombie pops randomly in the map and runs from the players, who will have to chase him in order to have themed rewards.
    His physical appearance hasn't been decided yet. "If you see a zombie with a peruvian hat on his head, don't ask questions." - Tigrounette.
  • We can now put unique bosses whom have powerful effects in order to challenge and reward teamwork. It's a Work In Progress.
  • Generally speaking, zombies will be redesigned and will be based on the same skeleton as the character, with random scars and wounds to differenciate them.
  • Visually recognizable themed zombies with the new skin system will be arriving. We only have the cop for now!
  • Themed zombies loot themed rewards (club/revolver for the cop etc)
  • Zombie reappareance timer has been slighlty changed and sometimes even more depending on the zombies we have to kill (bosses, special etc) kisses.


Maps

  • A secret passage system has been put in place. It's a piece of the map that opens to let players explore mysterious places which usually are blocked or hidden. Randomly and regularly, a secret passage opens and becomes reachable during a given time. Grouped players will have to explore it (it's dangerous to go alone!) and loot unique rewards in a special chest. Good luck!

  • A secret passage closes when the time is up. If some players remain in it, they are automatically teleported in front of the closed entry and the final chest disappears.
  • The secret passage timer is displayed on the map interface. When it opens, you can see a line on the chat. It's up to the players to explore the map and find it.
  • We have merged "Pharmacy" and "Clinic" together in order to fit our new sector map size standards.
  • Boxes (and zombies) have greater chances to drop objects.
  • When a box is empty, the character says "it's empty" when clicking on it, so it avoids displaying an empty box interface.



Objects

  • Objects are put in different rarity categories. Here is the list:
    - Usual
    - Rare
    - Exceptional
    - Epic
    - Legendary --> Can't be crafted!
  • All picked up objects are more or less out of date/damaged. Only crafting them allows to have brand new objets and food, with greater bonuses and durability etc.
  • Around thirty objects have been added.


Player's Home

  • Storage chests will be craftable (3 maximum, 9 slots each). You will be able to plan special weapons for special maps, plan expeditions or simply collect good weapons in order to trade them. You lucky survivor!


Campfire

  • It is now possible (the feature is implemented) to throw objects in the fire in order to give bonuses to the travelling companions that rest with us.

II/ Bug fixes

We would like to thank our testers and everyone who love our games once again without whom none of this would have been possible. You give us the opportunity to continue making great games that excite us. And we're happy you love it. We recruited 20 more testers for this Alpha, and I can assure you that the rythm of production will be increasing starting from Alpha 4 (which will be released even sooner that expected).

a few suggestions:

For the items, I guess it's not so intuitive that "Rare" is more common than "Exceptional". It might be better if It was something like:
- Common/Usual
- Uncommon/Unusual
- Rare
- Epic
- Legendary

Reviving takes quite long and if a zombie hits you in the meantime, you stop reviving the other person and have to restart from the beginning. Usually you die in the middle of zombies so it is already not that easy to actually revive someone.
I like the feature how it is and it does not need to be made any harder to use it.
You gain full HP after being revived - that is a thing that could be changed to like 50% or something imho.
