No Godmodding

What is Godmodding? Godmodding is when you take control of another persons character, and write their actions in your own reply.

It can also be called Powerplay.

(Note: Please for the sanity of your partner, do not godmod. It's no doubt rude, and frowned upon in the rp community.)

Example:

1st rper: I grab the side of his collar and push him against the wall, the look in my eyes made him shiver as I kept him in place.

2nd rper: He let's go of me, and I walk off relieved.

No matter how long your partner takes to reply. DO NOT reply for them. Be polite, and have some patience.

Be respectful and kindly tell them you are uninterested in the rp or ask them if they're busy. Communicate with your partner!

No God-Mode

I think the name explains itself ^^;

Don't make your character invincible (with/without unrealistic powers) and unfazed by the events or different situations that play in with your rp. Also, do not make it so that your character refuses death or ignore other roleplayers actions that may be harmful towards them.

Do not Autohit/Autowalk

Autohitting is when one of the players does an action before their partner/partners could respond. For example, going up to one of the characters, and hitting them in the shoulder to immediately take their stuff and run off. Autowalking would be going past a character/present character that would have a reaction, but instead you type in your reply as if they didn't.

Don't do that. Please leave open chances for your rp partner to respond.

This is Public...

Don't forget that this is public! Make sure your rp doesn't include any inappropriate acts, disturbing descriptions, cussing, and spamming. Be mindful of some of the ages of our tribe members. If any are found in your reply it will be moderated, and you will have to retype it.

Thanks! Be creative and have fun. (: -Nessi

Creating a Thread

I'd strongly advice everyone who wants to roleplay to make a thread in which states the following...And for some of these, please discuss these with your partners.

1. State if you would prefer to discuss plot rather than jump right into it, or if you are okay with being sent starters without previous discussion.

2. State if the thread is a Multiple Storyline thread, in which the relationships, romances, and actions of other characters in one thread do not coincide or interrupt the thread of another. All threads and stories are kept separate.

3. It is always good to make a list of limits. What you are okay with, and what you are not okay with. If you would like, you can say ‘for my limits that I am okay with, please ask’. For limits you are not okay with, it is good to make a list.

4. State if you would prefer that your character’s information is not public knowledge. This means that the character’s age, weaknesses and strengths, and so on, are not known by strangers and approaching characters.

5. Let players know what fandoms/anime/mangas/ships you have knowledge of and are interested in roleplaying with, if applicable.

6. Let players what type of writing style you prefer. State if you’d prefer to roleplay with those who write semi, para, or multi/novella. If you’re okay with freestyle, state this.

7. Regarding the above, let others know what kind of stories and genres you are interested in if you have something in mind. If you’re open to any and all, let them know.

8. More importantly, let others know if you have triggers. Let them also know that they should be comfortable in letting you know if they have triggers of their own, so that you can be mindful of it in roleplay.

9. State if you are with shipping. However, be specific if you are not interested in having the roleplay work towards the relationship, if you just let it happen if this is the case, or if you’re okay with talking about it right in the beginning, or if you’d prefer it later on to be discussed as the roleplay progresses.

10. State if you would prefer your partners to have proper grammar, spelling and so on and if it will be an issue if the person approaching you has particularly horrible traits in these. Also let them know if you are not bothered either way.

11. State if you are not on as often as others. This will keep people from bugging you about replies as often.

12. State if your character is interested in all genders, or is only interested in male or female, concerning sex or relationships.

RP's Dictionary

Activity (1/10) — On roleplay applications, this is to let the people know how active you will be on the website posting. Very little free time = 1-3. Two to three posts a week, 4-6. More free time than most, higher numbers.

Admin — The ‘manager’ or person in charge of the roleplay, group, blog, etc.

Appless Roleplay — A roleplay that does not require you to submit an app (application) to join the roleplay.

AU — Alternate Universe. The world that strays from the canon either slightly or entirely.

Canon — The original source information (TV show, book, etc.) that the characters came from.

Closed Roleplay — The thread/roleplay is closed off to outsiders and is only welcome to those that are mentioned and already involved.

Crossover — Where two or more fandoms overlap/intertwine in a roleplay.

Doubling — When you and your partner both play one female AND one male. Most often used as a courtesy when both players do not want to play a specific gender.

Drabble — A written piece related to developing the character in some way.

Exclusive — Where someone roleplays with a specific character and will not roleplay with others who roleplay the same character. This is usually fandom related.

Face Claim — The “face” of your character. The celebrity, actor, anime character that is used to portray the appearance of your character.

Fade To Black — Often used within sexual scenes where the players end/skip a scene, though the actions are thought to be played out despite not being typed, and the scene picks back up after the skipped scene would have ended.

Fan Character — An original character created in a canon world.

Fluff — 1. Fluff is when you add additional, though probably unnecessary, information in a post to make it longer/match a partner’s post length.

2. Fluff in romance roleplays/shipping is when there are scenes that probably do not progress the plot forward in any way, and are more or less there for the two characters to interact in a lovey-dovey manner/do cute, sweet things together.

Free-Style — When a roleplayer has no set method in roleplaying. This means they will freely jump from onelining, semi-para, and para with no consistency.

Future Week — When, in a roleplay, the roleplay jumps into the future a decade or more, but only for one week.

Godmodding — A character whose abilities are limitless. Often acts of forcibly causing something to happen, i.e. making someone else’s character move without consent, is godmodding. [Examples]

Headcanon — Something that the individual or fandom believes to be true in the story, show, etc. and it generally makes sense, but hasn’t been confirmed by the creators of the media. More or less, a ‘personal’ canon.

Het — Abbreviation used for heterosexual.

Hiatus — Where someone is taking an indefinite break (sometimes the length of time is stated) and activity on the blog ceases, meaning there are no posts/updates.

Highly Selective — Where someone is very particular about who they roleplay with and will usually only choose a few people at a time.

IC — In character. That relating to what occurs in game/post by the characters.

Indie — Independent. Usually mean a roleplay blog that is not tied to a roleplay group.

M!A — Magic!Anon. Used when asking a character a question anonymously. The Magic!Anon has the ‘ability’ to make the character do or become anything.
For example: M!A You are now a rabbit for a day!
The character will then respond with a post to this.

Main — The character most frequently used. This may also refer to the main verse, which is the storyline most frequently used.

Mainverse — The most frequently used universe/storyline in which the character is played.

Mary Sue/Gary Stu — Used to describe a character that is often times ‘perfect’ in every way, is capable of upstaging other characters no matter what, they can pick up on any task and master it in no time, etc. Usually a perfected self-insert.

MC — Abbreviation for main character.

Mod— The ‘manager’ or person in charge of the roleplay, group, blog, etc.

Moniker— A nickname or alias, often used by the roleplayer.

Multi-Muse — A blog that has more than one character in use.

MuMu — Short for Multi-Muse

Multi-Para/Novella — Multiple Paragraphs of post length, often stemming from 3 paragraphs to way beyond this.

Multiple Storyline Character — A character in which the events of one thread have absolutely no effect on the events in another thread in anyway, shape, or form, and are known to be played out in completely different universes regardless of any similarities. Each partner has their own universe that is played with said character, so the events with another partner do not interfere with others.

Multishipping — Coincides with Multiple Storyline Character, in which the romantic involvement which one character in one thread does not interfere or coincide with the romantic relationship with another character in an entirely different thread. This means that a character can have as many relationships as they would like, as each one is in a different universe and none of the partners know of the others’ existence in anyway, shape, or form.

Mun — The person behind the character. A.K.A the roleplayer.

Muse — Often referred to either the player’s character, or things that inspire the player.

Musings — For roleplay, it is a post (text post usually) that relates to the character in some way. It is often something that they may think or think about, used to describe something through their world view, etc.

MU/MUSH — Multi User Simulated Hallucination. Often related to roleplayers of MMORPGS such as World of Warcraft.

Mutual — Specifically for Tumblr. This is when you follow someone’s blog, but they also follow you back.

NPC — Non-playable character. This is when the player controls the actions of a character that may not be tied to the story permanently, such as pedestrains, waiters, office workers, etc. These may also be side characters that are tied to the story, though only played and controlled by one player.

NSFW — Not Safe For Work. Any material that would not be suitable outside of private viewing.

OC — Original Character. One that is not related in any canon material. Made up by the player.

Omegaverse — Omegaverse is a AU(alternate universe) in which both genders can give birth. It isn't always the most popular AU, but it is still used by others. In this system, there are three main roles: Alpha, Beta, and Omega.

One Line — One sentence of post length.

OOC — Out of Character. Discussions that are done between the players and do not directly consist of the actions happening in the game.

Open Post — Used specifically on tumblr, but could regard an open thread on a forum as well. This means that the post made is open for anyone to reply to so that a roleplay is started. Sometimes, more than one person is allowed to join, which is specified either in the title of the post, or in the tags.

OTP — One True Pairing. Players personal favorite pair of love between characters.

Para — Five to six sentences of post length.

PB or PlayBy —The “face” of your character. The celebrity, actor, anime character that is used to portray the appearance of your character.

PSA — Public Service Announcement. Generally used when making an important or should-be-wide-spread announcement for followers, groups, or people beyond those looking at your blog.

Reserved Muses — 1. A muse that is created for the sole purpose of roleplaying specifically with another character.

2. In group roleplay, this is where a character is reserved for someone until a designated time (usually when the player is available to take up roleplaying said character).
RFP — Used in roleplay applications. Players example audition posts are removed once accepted and in it’s place is RFP or Removed For Privacy.

RP — Roleplay.

RPG — Roleplay Game/Group.

Self-insert — A character that resembles the mun via personality, looks etc. and is, generally, an exact reflection of the mun.

Selective — When a roleplayer will sometimes be choosy with who they decide to roleplay with. Out of person A, B, and C, they may roleplay with B and C, but decide not to roleplay with A for whatever reason.

Semi-Haitus — Where someone is taking an indefinite break, (sometimes the length of time is stated) however activity doesn’t completely cease, but instead activity is slowed. Posts are slowed and updates are just less frequent.

Semi-Para — Three sentences of post length.

Semi-Selective — When a roleplayer will sometimes be choosy with who they decide to roleplay with. Out of person A, B, and C, they may roleplay with B and C, but decide not to roleplay with A for whatever reason. However, they are more lax than someone who is selective.

Ship/Shipping — Short for relationship. The act of shipping two characters together is to engage the two of them in an official relationship. The thought of shipping two characters together is approval of the thought of the two engaging in a relationship. –Also sometime referred to as ‘cruising’ or ‘sailing’.

Single Ship — This is where two characters are in an exclusive relationship with one another. This means that they will not have romantic/sexual relationships with others, no matter if they are single verse or multi verse.

Slash — Refers to the same-sex pairing of characters.

Starter — The opening/beginning post of the roleplay. The very first post of the roleplay, to ‘start’ it.

Thread — The collection of posts and responses from the start or continuation of the roleplay.

Verse— ‘Universe’ or the world in which the roleplay is set.

Objective Point of View:

With the objective point of view, the writer tells what happens without stating more than can be inferred from the story's action and dialogue. The narrator never discloses anything about what the characters think or feel, remaining a detached observer.

Third Person Point of View:

Here the narrator does not participate in the action of the story as one of the characters, but lets us know exactly how the characters feel. We learn about the characters through this outside voice.

First Person Point of View:

In the first person point of view, the narrator does participate in the action of the story. When reading stories in the first person, we need to realize that what the narrator is recounting might not be the objective truth. We should question the trustworthiness of the accounting.

Omniscient and Limited Omniscient Points of View:

A narrator who knows everything about all the characters is all knowing, or omniscient.

A narrator whose knowledge is limited to one character, either major or minor, has a limited omniscient point of view.
