It was a pretty good day. Got done with homework after school and went outside to enjoy sunlight while I still had some.

I came back inside and heard my mom on the phone with somebody in the kitchen. I saw her pacing back and forth with a stressed look on her face and I decided to hide in front of the edge of the wall while carefully listening to my mom. I heard "Today? We just moved a week ago! We can't leave today!!! She lowered her voice in case I was listening. "Maya just got used to her new school!" I went upstairs and started packing my things.

Mom got off the phone and I walked downstairs finding her with her hand rubbing her forehead, letting out a big sigh. I went downstairs to comfort my mom. "It's ok. You have to keep the job anyways. We need the money for necessities like food, clothes, and shelter. I know it's frustrating without dad but we've handled it without doubt for 3 years." I calmly told her. "Thanks, sweetheart. Your so strong." She said. "Why don't you go pack up. I'll call a moving truck to take our beds, dressers, and other things we can't fit in the car."

"The moving truck is here, Maya! Are the boxes ready?" She asked me. "Yes, mother! I will start putting my things in the car then I'll come and help with the rest." I replied. "Thank you. Your my tough little cookie!" She told me. I laughed and started putting the small boxes in the car. "We're lucky we live at the edge of the state!" My mom shouted from her bedroom.

We took several trips from the old house to the new house. After about 6 to 8 hours worth of trips, everything was at the new house. We started to unpack. First, we unpacked the heavy stuff, like couches, chairs, beds, and dressers. Next on the list were the foods and clothing. Last were the small boxes.

After all the items were unpacked, we ate dinner and my mom told me to go to bed. I started upstairs. "Wait!" My mom quickly said. Yet another sigh was let out. "Come here." I walked downstairs and sat down at the Kitchen table. "Yes, mom?" I questioned. "You were very brave and helpful. I thank you for that." She thanked me. "Now go to bed. Goodnight, dear." I walked upstairs and went to bed.
