Downfall of Bouboum's popularity |

Well, where do I start... Bouboum has been going downhill lately. There's almost no moderation to keep the rules reinforced, and there has been many hackers roaming around Atelier801's games. People have been having concerns about the games and many players left because the Administraters keep on focusing on Transformice's updates, rather than getting more Moderators to watch each game, and make sure that everything is in order. Transformice was the game with the MOST players online ever, but ever since updates have been happening in Bouboum which had some more players, now the hamsters that are online start dropping from 1000+ to about 900-200 players total. Since then, Bouboum was having many players online when everything was normal. There were some changes, and then the wallglitch game along and took part. People started leaving until that was fixed, but many didn't come back. Transformice was the main thing soaking up all the popularity (which is acceptable). Fortoresse moved into Atelier801 soon and now players moved there. But Bouboum needed some drastic changes fast. After all of that was taken care of, Bouboum's hackers started coming in and raiding Duel games, including normal rooms. So that is one cause of the major downfall. Since there was a lack of Moderators, people started to leave even more. I have been noticing lately that there has been private servers made of Bouboum, and one time I recieved a page-load of Bouboum hacks. Things have been going off lately and players keep leaving to private servers. In my concern, if players keep hacking and people keep advertising private servers, there will start a panic and soon make Atelier801 lose their money since people would probably stop buying fraises from Transformice and everything else, or Bouboum would soon no-longer be popular. Feel free to post your thoughts on this if you like. |

The only time I even remember Bouboum being updated was when new skins were introduced but nothing to fix any bugs and no hack patches. Before when the game started being hacked the admins were very ignorant and just kept saying to users that the game was "unhackable". Clearly it is. I really wouldn't expect anything to be done at this point in time. Bouboum is past it's prime and it's going to be one of those good games that die young, regardless of it just being another flash ripoff of other flash ripoff's of where the game originated. I've actually noticed the same thing with Fortoresse, and what do those two games have in common? lack of moderation/control |

Gamegamerlol a dit : Exactly. Unlike Transformice, oooohh it's such a special game, better than the two low-life games. They're all from Atelier801, so they should all have the same moderators for all the games. |

It's such a bother. Obviously Atelier801 only cares about quantity instead of quality. We have a broken game? Release another one. They want new skins? Recolor the ones we already have. I understand how Transformice would be their main focus (because it's their main game) but it's bad business to keep releasing shotty games. If money is an issue, then they shouldn't even bother with more games. If you can't handle it, don't even bother. |

Cultivating a dit : I completely agree with you on that, now they're still devoloping Celulose or whatever, and annouced another game, Neko Dance or whatever too. I'm pretty sure they didn't have enough people to make another game first of all given all the bugs there have been and most still not fixed on TFM |

All I have to say is when they release any new game to not expect a long term experience, nor good quality updates and expect the game to go to shit 6 months later when they've most likely forgot it even exists. Pretty much just repeating what was said above but this is really upsetting, I'd much rather them just sell Bouboum off to a different company that'll actually take care of it, and to be honest with the way they treat the game it seems like a possibility. |

It's just a Bomberman clone. It's no loss tbh. |

It may be just because I haven't even bothered looking, but Bouboum was actually the first Bomberman clone I've found, played, and actually enjoyed immenesly. While I am mad in the direction it's going and am targetting the admins a lot about it, I'd rather play the clone that was made by them just because I've played Transformice for so long and have grown to like the company. Still, it's their game no less and you could easily say that every game other then Transformice is just a clone of another and that it won't be a loss to anyone. Not to mention that I like how easily accessible it is, and that I can still talk to my friends and tribe wether or not I want to switch games. And I can play these games all on the same account with the same friends and it'll actually work rather then some other really wonky downloadable games that most can't play. |

Haruhitastic a dit : It actually is a loss. The Admins worked hard on Bouboum but now that it's popularity is going down, they're losing something that they worked hard on for a while. |

Bouboum, as I understand. Is a 2D, 8-bit graphic mini game created by Atelier801. Things have been going down lately with it's popularity such as; -Issues with power-ups -Hackers -Lack of moderation -Private servers (which is CLEARLY ILLEGAL!!) -Pointless updates -Less people because Transformice is hogging up everyone... (Re saying the OP so the admins can hear this.) - Bouboum has been going downhill lately. There's almost no moderation to keep the rules reinforced, and there has been many hackers roaming around Atelier801's games. People have been having concerns about the games and many players left because the Administrators keep on focusing on Transformice's updates, rather than getting more Moderators to watch each game, and make sure that everything is in order. In my concern, if players keep hacking and people keep advertising private servers, there will start a panic and soon make Atelier801 lose their money since people would probably stop buying fraises from Transformice and everything else, or Bouboum would soon no-longer be popular. This is a huge issue. People say "Well Bouboum is a bomberman clone so it's not supposed to be popular.", so why does Atelier801 make more games and just leave them the way they are. Tigrounette needs to get off his butt and try to keep up Bouboum. Players like to play it, but not when there's all these mistakes and hackers running around like a bunch of hooligans. Even if Bouboum isn't supposed to be a popular game of Atelier801, at least do some good for the game and get rid of hackers, add new shop animals at least. Speaking of which. Cultivating said "It's such a bother. Obviously Atelier801 only cares about quantity instead of quality. We have a broken game? Release another one. They want new skins? Bouboum's shop is a issue because they aren't making new animals as much and recolor the old ones. It's like the admins want nothing to do with it. I understand Atelier801 is a busy company and all but still. - Shadowwinter a dit : I completely understand you. Bouboum was also my first bomberman clone that I've played. It's a decent game but with all of these pointless things, it makes me, you, and other people want to stop playing. Dernière modification le 1402924200000 |

So where do I begin? Bouboum Player-base has dropped a lot due to the game not being updated or patched for the hackers, however I do appreciate how they removed Speed penalties, starting off with 60% of speed penalty every round and being killed by players faster than you was rather annoying, and all you had to do was to wait the server to restart to bring it to 0% again which was the main reason of why the player-base dropped and some of them never returned, after that they added power ups, you see now the result, players targeting you with shields, bunkers, sweeps and more unbalanced powerups that I'll list down after. Speed penalties are not balanced but is-still better than power ups which created more problems and the player-base dropped even more. • The shield Really satisfying being killed at a start of each round by a player with <1 ratio that always gets a shield and targets you until you're dead, this was done to help new players, but if you think about it it's like on Trasformice when getting a first, do new players know how to wall-jump?. They don't, but they can still learn something new each time they play, shields are over-powered and ruin various techniques, players with shields can either get kamikaze or spam bombs over the map to get free kills in general this promotes bomb spamming and in big rooms the amount of shielders increase, 2? 4? 8? the number goes on, the fun thing is that after they removed their shield suiciding on you they can get another one by just walking past two blocks to get another question-mark-tile and the fact that they're UNLIMITED makes it a bad power up. • The Bunker I see a lot of problems with this power up, players use it to defend themselves from bombs which is okay, but it can get REALLY annoying sometimes.. So you know the wall explodes bombs on contact yes? This little power up does the same thing, players just place bombs and use this to explode bombs faster. I fail to see how to avoid them since you don't have time to even defend yourself, in most cases you die, and if you're lucky you survive with a shield, and I doubt it will even get fixed. Another annoying thing is when a shielder use it to trap you and place a bomb, BOOM, you got a kill or if you're very unlucky to walk past a block in the meantime they spawn a bunker for then afterall looking your character getting trapped and killed, don't we forget the people targeting you with them as for example when you do a line of bombs straight down, they just spawn bunker on your direction and you get trapped by yourself, you've made it hard to think how to use techniques in-game since that now you need to be careful about people kamikazing/shield suiciders/turning a zombie/muds \EVERYTHING\ is chaotic and you don't have to rely on your true skill anymore but on a random aspect of the game. • The Sweep On the good way this power up is used to destroy bombs in case someone traps you or you trap yourself by mistake, in the other aspects I'd say that it's kind of annoying, and if you want an example of how this power up ruins techniques here you go, you're placing bombs, in a Triangle? Square? Vertical? Line of bombs? Or you're trying to destroy blocks with your own bombs? Either way a player with a sweep may be targeting you, this player waits the right moment to use the sweep on you, ruining half of the technique you made, even worse if you were standing on a bomb, eitherway the bombs explode in an ordinary way, so let's say you did your technique which can be any, mine for example is standing on the bomb, for a short period of time for then going up,left, right or down, risky if you don't know the explosion timings of the bombs, and as you see i'm an easy target for sweep, the annoying thing is when you do complex techniques and players with sweep destroy a part of it, for then afterall seeing the remain bombs kill you, sure that does not happen every time but it's annoying enough if you want my opinion. • The Mud This is a really annoying power up in big rooms it is frequently used and you get slowed down each second, a player faster than you can just spam bombs around you and you get trapped easily, and to be honest considering the amount of the players in the room and this powerup it is like back in the day when there were speed penalties but this is much more worse because you get randomly slowed on the lead of your technique and this messed up the timing of the bombs you planned, as an example when you was doing your technique you had a normal speed, then when you was in the mid of a complex technique you get randomly slowed down and you don't have that normal speed anymore BUT you be delayed and die other than that you're an easy target , while the vampire is balanced because slows the player near you and not everyone, roller blades speed only you, there are a lot of power ups about speed, and to be honest I think there should be none considering the fact that they motivate bomb spamming and plus unfair advantages, everyone should have a regular speed. • The Zombie Certain players use it mostly because they want to know what this power up do, some use it to have fun, this is okay. But it is not okay the fact that players, including me get to be a Zombie without wanting to, killing a player that has used the Zombie power up for then getting yourself to be turned Zombie and be killed by a player faster than you, technically I fail to see how you can do a decent technique with zombie power up if not a line of bombs which is currently not easy to do with the entire field spammed of bombs or either players targeting you with kamikazi / shield / sweeps/ bunkers and hackers around. • The Ice This really ruined a lot of techniques, if a certain player freeze the bombs you did they no longer have their explosion time. They explode after they un-freeze, this kills players that are not aware of that and at the same time they give repair from bombs by hiding behind ice but it is risky if you don't know the time they un-freeze, let's say that this powerup is half balanced and half not. Lets not forget how it is a turn off to be killed each round after 10 seconds passed from spawn by a shielder that removes shield on you by suiciding, there's not only the shield problem but other unbalanced and overpowered power ups that I wrote above, the conclusion is that power ups just don't fit well with the game The only balanced power ups I see are : Banana, Vampire, Bonus, Hazelnut. Unbalanced powerups, Hackers, Wall glitch, Lack of moderation/updates, this is why Bouboum player-base is leaving and Bouboum is Atelier801 least priority game. Stop this nonsense! You should take down all the private servers because what are they going to do now when they see their favorite game is down forever? And you think it's impossible to get thousands of cheese, IT'S NOT! Other people have lots of cheese because everyone has to have seen one person with the ultimate outfit with the most cheese-costing stuff. Believe in yourself. If they can do it you can do it, you don't need to make a hacked version or something. And I have never seen any Bouboum private servers only one which happens to have nothing and starts you out with 0 hazelnuts. Maybe you should make fraise discounts or make them a little less money one day because there OVER 9000 people who play Transformice and if more than half of them buy fraises you can earn tons of money. They would do anything to keep their favorite game up. Bouboum is a great game, but it's hard. I think that is what keeps the lack of players going. All of Ateiler801's games tend to be easy in my opinion. Don't you think it is a bit hard to avoid bombs that kill you no matter what and are set by 100 people? Fortoresse Isn't so hard, you get team that shoots with you. Nekodancer is just a dancing game you can easily get money from ( in my opinion ). Transformice.....there is a shaman to help you, different platforms. But forgive me I love all Ateiler801 games. Find a way to keep your money coming. Make t-shirts or plushies or ears for the fans to buy. I've seen them in pictures and videos. I mean, maybe you don't have to take down the private servers but there are a lot for Transformice, trust me. Make some newer updates to Bouboum for everyone to like it better. I remember the update with the new Mouse Skin. Add some special currency in Nekodancer like Catnip for everyone to buy. I know that Nekodancer is probably 2nd most popular Atelier801 game. Everyone wanted to play it when it was JUST releasing. Fortoresse is 3rd. I don't see many players so make a great update for it and it might get more players. Completely agree. When I started playing Bouboum, there were ALWAYS 1000-3000 players online. Also, when I played there were no hackers in the room and the game was stable and fun, And moderators were almost always in the room. half a year later......BOOM, everything goes down. Everytime I log in now, there are always 30-500 players online. The least I have ever seen is 33. the most I've ever seen is 460. And whenever I log in, I don't feel safe. I don't feel stable. There is normally a hacker in the room, and no moderators. I myself play all of Atelier801's games, which used to be in this order when everything was safe: 1. Bouboum 2. Transformice 3. Nekodancer 4. Fortoresse. By now, It is: 1. Nekodancer 2. Transformice 3. Bouboum 4. Fortoresse It fell from 1st to 3rd in a matter of months, which made and probably alot of other people sad. I hope Atelier can look at the mess that Bouboum has become, and hopefully change it. If it doesn't change, I will stop playing completely, if not much less. |

With Nekodancer still in it's early stages of life Bouboum or any of the other games (except Transformice) probably won't be getting very many updates if any at all anytime soon. A lot of the player-base for Bouboum has quit over the time the game's been out and I'd say the reason the game won't get updated is that there isn't enough players to raise the demand for it. I still hate to see this game end up like this as well as their others but there's really nothing that can be done unless the admins focus on Bouboum again which would still be really risky given the state of the game and their money situation. They need to focus on becoming a stable company again with good income but I don't think Nekodancer is really doing this for them, at least in my opinion.. |

I feel really bad now for Bouboum. Since Nekodancer is out, I bet that Bouboum will be the first game to go down, and that Fortoresse will be second. If you can't update a game any further, and it's having less players, take the damn thing down and remove it! It's a waste of time for you guys to be making other games and just leaving others behind. You're making surplus things you don't even need anymore after all the things that players keep doing to mess up the whole idea of the game. Without any moderators helping us on Bouboum, then what the hell are we supposed to do?! Tribunal isn't gonna help, people will keep hacking, mods will be lazy, and players will just shut up and not say shit about the players that are hacking on this game. I am nearly about to quit Bouboum and send a message to the team about the reasons why Bouboum is turning into a pile of crap. If I were to make Bouboum, that would be my main focus. I wish Atelier801 did the same. :| |

There's actually more people playing Bouboum then there are playing Nekodancer. (~55 on Bouboum, ~24 on Nekodancer and ~125 on Fortoresse) Or at least that's the case around this time, all of the games are likely to pick up during international peak times. I'll check back then and compare. I honestly think that these numbers are so close to each other compared to a larger scale like TFM that it makes little to no difference comparing the numbers though, they all pretty much have the same activity. The hacker issue is honestly overblown though. It's easy in Bouboum to think other people are hacking since it's reliant on latency and player speeds, both of which are constantly varying, but in reality there's little to no hacks available any more. I've personally been searching for hacks, testing them in private on a guest account to see if they work and reporting them to Tig for him to patch on a fairly regular basis, and he has patched them all so far. He even managed to recently patch one that was very hard to detect just by watching. People just don't have the means to hack and I don't think I've seen a genuine hacker for weeks, if not months. I'm not saying there's never going to be hackers ever again and that it's 100% solved, but perhaps don't automatically jump to conclusions when someone skips ahead two spaces on your screen or doesn't die from an explosion you saw them hit. I also don't really agree that a game like this needs regular updates either. Apart from perhaps more things to purchase there's very little to expand on the core game play. Sure, you could add more game types or power-ups, but I'd consider them major updates and more of an expansion to the game. They can be fun, but like most updates they can lose their appeal after time. If someone isn't happy with the fundamental game then they aren't likely to play regularly once a different mode comes out. Adding power-ups is tricky since it requires a fair bit of research to implement something that balances well with existing powerups. Even then there's going to a handful of players who grossly disagree with it, it's just the nature of games. It's not something that can be done regularly at any rate. On that note, I guess I'm one of the very few people who feels the current power-ups are acceptable as they are now. They're not perfect and could certainly be tweaked slightly, but any problem each one has isn't so bad that I find it irritating. I can see the reason why people aren't happy with shields, but apart from that I can still see the up-side to other power-ups. Auto-bomb can be used well when there's open areas and you plan ahead, but hey, it's still funny if someone places bombs everywhere and kills everyone in the process. To me it has the same charm as a shaman killing everyone by cannoning people by accident or misplacing a plank back in the early days of TFM. A lot of that 'trolling' humour seems to be dead though these days, which is a shame. Whether new people can be attracted to Bouboum, I don't know, but I do feel that it's come a long way since it was introduced. I still find it fun to log on and have a casual play every now and then. Sometimes I win but mostly I kill myself due to some silly way, but I still had fun. Perhaps I don't take it as seriously as most people, but I'd argue it's more enjoyable that way. |

They're not lazy, they have lives you know. Back to the discussion, I feel bouboum is just one of those popular uncreative games. That's probably why it's not being played so much. I've seen MANY Bomberman games like this, and I want Tigrounette to make something original like Transformice. The skins are also pretty uncreative. Dragons? Really? |
