Who do you think will win the solo tournament? |

Ping being higher just means you have to anticipate attacks more than relying on reacting to them as they occur. It's not dependent on random chance, but it can really cause a lot of inconsistency if it's too high. If someone nails you for no reason it's usually just an element of random chance because of glitching (binomial probabilities consisting of the chance the game sends you rightwards and downwards a certain number of times). If you wanna remove random chance from games, ban glitching or conjuring up against a wall. Impose a 2 or 3 strike penalty system that forces a forfeit if the rules are violated too many times. The servers also don't really handle high speeds very well because the crosscheck mechanism fixes the player's speeds to what's expected as "normal" by the server (which is why speed hackers and corner jump sliders appear to be twitching as they move forward, because the game can't handle high speeds well). So people can really jump around if they're using exploits to increase their speeds. If a player suddenly gains speed, it usually takes about half a second for the game to correct the other player's position. Spas users have a huge advantage because of this since it takes a while for the player to actually appear if they land beside you from high speeds, and by the time this happens for a high pinger they've usually already lost 20+ HP. In addition, you can't use sudden movements to escape from a spas user because it keeps you in place on their screens for a little bit allowing them to hit you more. For people who don't know what crosscheck is, I've included a link. It basically means that the game behaves differently for yourself and for other players. I did once speculate that there were two different parts to the physics engine, and this is it. How to host a good tournament: - No room for bs (e.g. calling off a match because of afks, random lag, or glitches when there was an opportunity for someone to win. This and allowing players to walk free if they accidentally kill themselves) - Ban anything that relies on luck. No glitching allowed, whether used to travel or just pinned against a wall. There may be an exception to this if a player uses a ring to trap a player and the player wants to escape by glitching, otherwise it's impossible to escape especially in the vicinity of a bomb. - Impose a penalty system that allows players to use illegitimate methods a limited number of times before forfeiting. Running away is a valid tactic, but can't be used excessively. For example, impose 3 strikes for accidentally killing yourself, voiding your opponent, or repeatedly running away. - Discourage camps. Find some reliable way to get players to report their HPs at the end of a match, and judge matches based on final HP if neither player is dead at the end of a game. - Get a referee who knows what they're doing/has a large amount of experience in fortoresse. - Consider finding ways to discourage the use of higher tier guns constantly e.g. the winner of a game must switch guns or the loser of a game can ban a gun off the winner AND themselves for the next game only, OR both at the same time. Singles tourneys - Rules stated above. Doubles tourneys - Rules stated above. For campy matches, either add up the HPs of the contributing members, or the losing team is the one with a dead member/member with the lowest HP. Ditto gun tourneys - First match behaves as a singles tourney, the loser bans a gun, and the winner gets to choose a different gun that both players must use. OR, the first gun is always m4 a1. Arms race - Players race from the highest tiered weapon to the lowest tiered weapon in a specified set, and the first player to get a kill with the lowest tiered weapon wins. But yeah, we'd have to rank the weapons :/ That and it can take a really long time. Dernière modification le 1419644280000 |
