Weapon Guide: UMP 45 I was sick so I decided to make this, hope you guys learn something. Feel free to add anything I have missed and your opinion on what Primary I should do next would be very much appreciated. I started Fortoresse not long ago, so don't blame me if I mess up :P ~~Formatting copied off Solfn~~ ---INDEX--- TO GET TO THE SECTION YOU WANT, USE THE NAVIGATION, WHICH IS LOCATED JUST ABOVE THE HEADER IMAGE. (1) Pros and Cons (2) How to kill Enemies: (3) What to equip with UMP 45 (4) What to do when you have no ammunition (5) UMP 45 vs Other Guns (6) UMP in different Game Modes ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ (1) Pros and Cons Pros: • Can kill most enemies in 1 clip • Automatic • Good stats • Good for picking of enemies 1 by 1 • Minimum damage on yourself if you catch enemies unaware • Fastest reloading and shooting gun • Underestimated • Third highest short term damage rate in the game (very good for fighting weakened opponents in 1v1) • Second highest long term damage rate in the game (very good for demolishing mobs of players who aren't shooting back at you) • Best distance weighted short and long term damage rate in the game • Equal fastest firing speed in the game • Equal fastest reload rate in the game Cons: • No Scope • Bad accuracy • Ammo runs out quickly • Low ammo • Can only shoot through 1 block • Difficult to use / master • Worst damage per clip value of all of the weapon 1s, making only using this weapon to take out a healthy opponent a bad option (since reload time must be factored in) • Worst clip in the weapon 1s making each bullet highly precious and making missing shots very costly • Very powerful, heavier feel • Medium-low inner range, making skim shots (hitting at the edge of the range) very hard to pull off, on top of its bad accuracy (2) How to kill Enemies: Catching enemies by surprise The main use of this weapon is to pick off enemies (unaware) 1 by 1, thus the nickname Assassin. You will most likely get very little damage onto yourself this way due to the clip being shot so fast, and the enemy won’t even notice before he is dead. However the problem is that the gun has no scope and bad accuracy, so you can’t catch the enemies by surprise horizontally / sideways. The best way to catch them by surprise is to go exactly above the above the enemy team (so that they can’t see you) when they are firing at your team. Then quickly drop down enough to see the enemy players. Quickly go back up*, and start shooting at 1 player who is not surrounded by his team mates (not near enough that your shots won’t hit anyone but that person). Make sure to only shoot at that player, because if you shoot at multiple, you won’t kill anyone, and you will attract all of their attention and they will return fire. By shooting at the 1 player, you should kill him before he even notices. *Need secure footing, 2 block deep conj is good. Why this works: You may get a bit of damage when you drop down, however when ou go back up most people will not shoot at you. This is because most people like to kill the bigger enemy, (which is the big group of teammates) and have fear of the uncertain (they won’t shoot at you). Even if the enemy starts shooting at you, just use conj to go higher up, so that the bullets don’t reach you. When you start shooting at 1 player, they should die before they get to return fire. Tunnels If the above is not possible due to narrow tunnels and there's a frontal assault from team vs team, try and stay behind 1-2 teammates and shoot at the exact moment a player is about to die (15-5 HP), trying to kill steal.* This is a good strategy as the UMP 45 is able to do heaps of damage in a short amount of time, great for kill steals. You can apply this to other situations if you want to. *Kill steals are generally frowned upon, however in big groups no one will notice that you got the kill, and it’s not ‘technically’ kill stealing as you were also shooting at him. Luring If neither of the above is possible, e.g enemy team is defending flag (and very compacted), try and shoot at an isolated person (person most away from the rest of the enemy team). Lure him by shooting him 3-5 times with your secondary weapon (more times if there is conj in the way), and then run away sideways. If the person you shot at chases you, use conjure to make an ‘S’ bend*. *The S bend is usually easy to break when you're ready to return fire, and acts only as temporary protection. When you are away from the enemy team, try and fall down and appearing near the person you ‘lured’ and start shooting him (or vice versa, going up and falling down near ‘lured’ player). If the player doesn’t get lured when you shoot him 3-5 times, shoot him again 3-5 times and run away (with secondary weapon). Keep doing this, as it will annoy the player and will damage him quite a lot/ kill him. Make sure that other enemies do not come near you when you do this. (3) What to equip with UMP 45 What secondary weapons to use with UMP 45 The obvious choice for a secondary weapon with UMP 45 is an Uzi. This is because the UMP 45 doesn’t have a lot of ammo to destroy conjuration. However if you don’t like Uzi, Beretta 9mm also works. Its great accuracy + the damage is a great option instead of the Uzi; at the price of not being able to dig. Secondary weapons help to finish off enemies which you couldn’t beat with 1 clip from UMP 45 (due to enemy having more than 46 health), and you can switch to the secondary weapon using the button ‘2’ and finish them off. You also need your secondary weapon to beat enemies when you don’t have any ammunition in your gun. What perks to use with UMP 45 The best perks to use with UMP 45 are: Shield + C4/Mine (Mine is better because you cannot activate C4 when you die, mines has more damage and you can use mines to block a tunnel without having to stay there to see if anyone is coming). This is probably the more preferable option, it has quick game play (as what you would expect from UMP 45) and gets many kills. However you will also die much quicker this way as well. With this, you should most likely be the top 3 players of the map. Ammo + Health If you are having trouble in getting ammo, this is probably for you. This will allow you to last a long time in battles without dying, when you run out of ammo, use the ammo perk. When you lose a bit of health, use health perk. This is better if you are trying to improve your death:kills ratio, you are a VIP, or if you are having problem with ammo. Otherwise, this is pretty much useless. (4) What to do when you have no ammunition This will happen quite a lot as an UMP 45 user, and the best way to avoid this is to try collecting the ammunition clips dropped off from dead people. If you are having a lot of trouble with ammo, try the perks ammo and health. Morting is also a good idea, however it may be considered as stat padding. When to mort: • Low ammo • Very Low HP (15 or less) • No threat to objective, e.g. player coming to damage VIP. • No enemies nearby (5) UMP 45 vs Other Guns M4 A1, AK 47, Famas, P90, Steyr Augr, G36C, AN 94, M60: UMP 45 deals 40 Damage extremely slowly, however deals 36 damage extremely quickly. This is due to the reload and not being able to deal 40 damage in 1 clip. Shoot the enemy a few times, and run away while reloading. When reloaded, finish him off quickly. MP5: Great damage, but horrible accuracy. Needs to be very close to kill. Just stay a bit away from this gun, make sure he doesn’t get near you. If he tries, just block him off with conj and shoot him while he tries to get past. SPAS 12: This gun is one of the most feared in the battlefield. If you are close to this, you are almost certainly dead. Run away if it is close to you and you are alone. When running, use the Corner Slide. While you are sliding, shoot the SPAS 12 chasing you. Quickly reload and then attack head on, even if the SPAS 12 gets close to you. You should be able to finish him in 1 clip, much faster than he should be able to shoot. If it doesn't chase you, attack him from above, and apply the above. If the SPAS 12 is not close to you, shoot him until your clip runs out, and go up. Then go down when you have finished reloading and finish him off. M40 A5: Great gun, but can be easily blocked with conj. Obvious choice for a secondary is a Uzi. Use that to your advantage. Uzi does barely any damage, it is just good for digging. Shoot the opponent while having a layer of conj as sheild (to protect yourself from the gun). Everytime the opponent destroys the shield, build it up again. When you are reloading, make a long shield, making sure that the opponent has to dig a lot. UMP 45: Let the enemy shoot you first. As soon as he starts shooting at you, go up, enough for you to be able to shoot back but him not be able to see you. Start shooting at him with your secondary. When he is in sight, switch to UMP 45 and finish him off. (6) UMP 45 in different Game Modes Domination: UMP 45 is not the best gun for Domination. Most guns can give 40 damage before it can, making it a bad choice for Domination. 1 thing you can do is to wait for 20-30 seconds and follow a player by their conj. If you catch them by surprise, shoot at them 3-4 times, and then quickly conj yourself up, while pressing ‘e’ (to reload). If they follow you up, your fully reloaded UMP will finish them off. If they don’t follow you, go back down and start following them, and eventually shooting them. While waiting, you can make a huge shield around you, only allowing you to shoot at the enemy (through the wall), and waiting near the spawn with the shield. This will be a bit boring, however you if anyone comes near you, they are bound to be dead. Make sure that your shield isn’t visible to other using scope, as they will start destroying your shield from a distance, and due to UMP 45’s bad accuracy, you won’t be able to return fire. A good place to make your shield is on higher or lower ground. If you see 2 people battling each other, stay above them, and keep a watch on the who-killed-who part on the bottom right. When you see one of the 2 players kill each other, go down and finish the last one. If you are lucky you will catch him while he is reloading. Alternatively, you can make a vertical shaft. For ex. the cheese map is very high ground and at the bottom is some more space. you can set traps for enemies who come down your tunnel. Although they might use shelter perk before they come down, i suggest leaving some space in the entrance and as they fall down they use shelter perk and expect to fall all the way down but instead is stopped by a wall of conj and just wasted their shelter perk. that is where you are able to trap them in conj and rape them. Lower ground has an advantage when between a platform due to the height of the weapon. Especially with spas and its horrible accuracy. Overall, I give it a 8/10 VIP: Attacking: You shouldn’t actually focus of killing the VIP, but more on killing the people defending him. There is hardly any way you can actually put some damage onto the VIP on your own, however you can easily pick off all the people defending him. This will not only help your team destroy the enemy VIP, but it will also stop players from attacking your VIP and make them start defending. It is always necessary to kill the defenders who are most isolated, but make sure that they are actually protecting the VIP. Overall, I give it a 7/10 Defending: UMP 45 is not suited to defending,it is more suited to killing people. Use this to your advantage. Kill players who are trying to bomb your VIP, making them use their Shelter perk early. They will have to wait 30 seconds, and that will be a big hinderance. Kill lone players who are shooting from above or below and can’t be seen. If you can’t see them, they can’t see you. If there are no lone players, bomb the clustered up group with a Mine + Shelter perk. Go above the cluster of players, drop down and pres shelter perk. Make a mine where there is the most group of people, if you have to move there, use conj to move (moving is impossible against so heavy gunfire). Also try trapping the players who are near the mine with Conj, so that they cannot get out in time. Make sure you place a mine before you 5 second Shelter perk is gone, and you should have damaged them quite a bit. Overall, I give it a 6.5/10 As VIP: For this, you should get/change to the perks: Ammo – UMP 45 runs out of ammo quickly, as VIP you will definitely need this Shelter – This is great for quick getaways, especially in trouble as VIP. The idea is to go really high up and go as close to the enemy base without being in range of fire. Make sure that the conj you are standing on is extremely deep, as deep as you can make it. Beware of going to high up, as you won't be able to shoot. Make sure you keep advancing towards the enemy while you are safe, travelling to the enemy VIP is very off-putting if it is a long distance, and you may lose due to this. Also when you have 150 or more HP than the other VIP, you should try and push the VIP and players back by advancing further into their base, hopefully they will start digging. This is good for you because eventually the VIP won’t have any place to dig/hide, and your team shall beat him/her. If a huge group of players start attacking you, run away with the S Bend and using the Shelter Perk. Hopefully when your teammates respawn, they will defend you, and if not, then your have basically lost with such as team If a single player comes up to you, try and create as much conj to stop his shots, and shoot him while he is reloading. Hopefully he dies, if not, then keep shooting him. When you have 3 or lower clips, use ammunition perk to refill your clips. It is always necessary to have full clips as a VIP, as big groups of people will always come. If you are cornered at the top from heaps of people, use the shelter perk and quickly run away downwards. Overall, I give it a 6.5/10 Capture the Flag: Attacking: Attacking is fairly easy with UMP 45, just go from above or below and pick enemies off. If you have the advisable Shelter + Mine perk, just go where most people are defending and mine them. This will make all affected by the mines easy pickings for your team and yourself. You will be able to defeat atleast 2 enemies in 1 clip. Try stay at the back off the flag, so that you are just touching the flag. This will allow you to capture the flag while being safe. Overall, I give it a 7.5/10 Defending: When you are defending, it is best to be hidden. Place a mine exactly on the middle of the flag, and then go up, (unless there are enemies already on the flag). If that is the case, attack the enemy with the UMP 45, and get atleast 6-8 damage on him (3-4 shots). Quickly go up and reload. When reloaded, shoot him again, and you should be able to kill him. If there are multiple enemies, try and be only seeable by the one lone enemy. If that is not possible, just try stay in groups and kill steal. Overall, I give it a 6/10 References: Advanced Tactics Library ~ Solfn Fortoresse Wikia Dernière modification le 1417159800000 |

You could ask Solfn for some more help (not saying it's bad) and do one about all the guns if that hasn't been done already. |

A person could argue against using the ump-45 by stating that the mp5 and spas-12 have a better clip and damage per clip value, and also dish out damage much more quickly per second and ultimately, due to their better clips, can finish off an opponent with 40 hp much more easily. People will not pay attention to this guide unless you convince them that the ump-45 is a good weapon choice. People are easily deterred from this weapon because of its bad clip. The ump-45 would be a very good weapon as a "team-play" weapon. Basically, get another player to dish out the 4 leftover HP required for you to jump in and finish the enemy off at the third fastest speed in the game. (because 18x2 = 36) IMO, the ump-45 should have the highest damage rate in the game rather than mp5 and spas-12, to offset its bad clip. It might encourage more people to use this gun. |

Maybe add the degrees for accuracy, it helps me more. Also solfn has stated, the Ump-45 is one of the guns no one ever uses. my fight for making ump a strong weapon would have to be showing how you can use it. I see it as an assasination weapon or a weapon of surprise. It can confuse the opponent by making them execute when you're reloading and ofc it only takes a second. Tunnels in domination work best for this weapon. For ex. the cheese map is very high ground and at the bottom is some more space. you can set traps for enemies who come down your tunnel. Although they might use shelter perk before they come down, i suggest leaving some space in the entrance and as they fall down they use shelter perk and expect to fall all the way down but instead is stopped by a wall of conj and just wasted their shelter perk. that is where you are able to trap them in conj and rape them. solfn a dit : The problem with SPAS 12 and MP5 is that it needs very close distance to be able to operate properly, while UMP 45 can fight long and close. I only made this guide for other UMP 45 users. Those who are not willing to give UMP 45 a try are not worthy of UMP 45 anyway. I am going to make one of every weapon, so it's just the peoples' choice on what they want to battle with. I don't think I can convince other people otherwise about UMP 45. Do you have any ideas? I like UMP 45 the way it is, the gameplay allows you to kill others quickly without much damage. The clips aren't much of a problem, just go to a place where there were heaps of deaths. |

I have some supporting data for the above statement. http://i.imgur.com/Wr7oVMs.png It says that the ump-45 has the highest damage rate at the full extent of its range. So there you go. And second up is the Famas, then Mp5, followed by the AN-94. And I can say this statement is still OK even if the percentages aren't linear, because the hit chance on the old data was also 90%. Also, if you want my full, unbiased analysis on the data, here's a good summary: Pros: - Third highest short term damage rate in the game (very good for fighting weakened opponents in 1v1) - Second highest long term damage rate in the game (very good for demolishing mobs of players who aren't shooting back at you) - Best distance weighted short and long term damage rate in the game - Equal fastest firing speed in the game - Equal fastest reload rate in the game Cons: - Worst damage per clip value of all of the weapon 1s, making only using this weapon to take out a healthy opponent a bad option (since reload time must be factored in) - Worst clip in the weapon 1s making each bullet highly precious and making missing shots very costly - Very powerful, heavier feel - Medium-low inner range, making skim shots (hitting at the edge of the range) very hard to pull off, on top of its bad accuracy - No scope, must rely on the inner range skim shots of opponents to judge their distance from the player On a side note, I wish that atelier would make the necessary tweaks to its weapons. I know that at one point, Tigrounette was interested in making this a competitive game (he helped us gather all this data) and it would be nice if they made necessary adjustments to balance everything out. (Plus, the ump-45 is a really good standard to set in terms of balancing out super powerful weaponry) Dernière modification le 1417083960000 |

Pretty old guide. I would like to add that is not very good start off on a close combat. It is the best long ranged weapon to do the most damage in its range. Or as said Best distance weighted long ranged. SPAS AND MP5 Counter:The best way to deal with spas is Ump 45, the BEST counter there is. Unfortunately spas will still be able to easily kill you if you're not better than the player in general. To deal with mp5 is quite hard, for it will deal a lot of damage mid range. SO your best strategy is to go to the ump's full extent where most of its bullets will still hit. Once you keep that distance mp5 will do little damage. OTHER FAST AUTOMATICS:As for Famas, p90 the fast automatics i would have to say RELOCATE. You must relocate after you dump your clip. The element of surprise is also crucial. You want to go mid range when you surprise them, then propel to top and dump your clip again. Do this over again until they die. SLOWER AUTOMATICS:Ump will beat slow weapons like ak 47 and steyer. Its almost the same as the fast autmatics except you will need to shoot diagonally with blocks from your torso too the feet to protect from fires under you. Shooting from above is recommended but you can also shoot diagonally from the bottom just remember to shield. SECONDARY AND SHIELDS:Your secondary weapon is crucial to destroy shields, you must acquire the skills to quickly switch between weapons. You want to use uzi or what i prefer beretta to destroy their shields and possibly damage them a bit. Since Ump 45 is also easy shield against you want to attack them with uzi and make them use up their conjuration bar. thats when their shielding is weakest making ump able to pierce through. You can't use ump when the opponent knows where you are. Again use secondary to break shields. Another way is to wait for them to break their own shield be shooting at you. That is when they are vulnerable since you can't shoot and conj at the same time. SNIPER RIFLE:For sniper rifle you want to avoid massive amounts of space. They can shoot you without a problem. I suggest low ground if there is a map like that. Other wise follow my next steps. In a case of a one on one and you both are waiting for the first move. You should start by making and indent shield so that you have a layer to protect from sniper shots. Start by using uzi to break down their shield then switch. They most likely shoot you when you're open. So shoot them when they try to break your shield. One on one battles are slow and you can't advance. So i would also advise going for the "flank' FLANK AND SURPRISES:This strategy is moving to a location your opponent doesn't know you're going to. Mostly behind them. This can be done on the Laboratory map in domination. On the very top you can always dig down then dig up behind them since the blocks are thin enough to dig fast through them. Remember the element of surprise is always a good tactic. Never go head on head battle. Overall relocating will naturall make yourself a shield. Relocating will allow to suppress the enemy. Remember you must keep shooting if you know your bullets are hitting. Last reminder is shooting diagonally. I give this gun a rating of 8/10 Dernière modification le 1456720680000 |

I'd like to contribute this table. It shows the percentages that represent the chances of the ump dealing at least the particular amount of damage listed on the left at maximum range under three cases, where only one clip is spent. Case 1: The opposing player is simply standing still Case 2: The opposing player continues to have their standing hitbox but takes crouch damage. Case 3: The opposing player is crouched down and has a smaller hitbox and takes crouch damage. |
