Does it have to be confirmed sfw by mods before i can see it?

Your avatar does not need to be confirmed or watched by a staff member before it becomes visible. A sentinel will however remove it if it breaks the rules in any way.

This is most likely connected to the current avatar bug. The admins are aware and will likely fix it as soon as possible.
