WḝḁȶḫĕɾCƚạń'š Bẚċƙśţøṙỳ

Shine, a rouge, stumbled around the forest, her weary paws aching like thorns. Her stomach growled louder, making it hard to concentrate. She scented the crisp leaffall air, only to find no prey. Just then, a white and grey cat leapt onto her, pinning her to the ground. Shine struggled, only to find herself locked in the mysterious cats' grasp. Taking a closer look, she saw the cat had a white underbelly with grey fur and white patches on her paws. Her flourescent blue eyes sparkled-she was probably about 7 moons old. Shine, not much older, felt her strength return, leaping up and pinning the other cat into the same position she had just been in. The young cat squealed, exited. For a little while they began tumbling around on the forest floor, not caring about the time. Soon, the moon crawled up from the mountains, creating a faint glow on the small clearing they were in.
"Come with me!" Shine's new friend called, racing towards the moon.
Racing along, they approached something.. Peculiar. A thick bramble wall surrounded what seemed like a huge rock, sparkling in the moonlight. An entrance of vines hanging down a small arch allowed them to get in. A few trees grew inside of the place, towering above her higher than any trees she had seen before. Turning to see her friend rush in, she followed, her paws stumbling. Walking in, she fluffed out her fur as she saw many eyes staring at her. Cats! Backing slowly away, she found herself cornered. What was she going to do?
"Stop! She's my friend!" Shine knew who had said it, and all of the eyes turned to face her.
"You befriended this rouge, Snowpaw?" an older, tawny colored cat spat, her eyes narrowed.
"She's nice! Isn't that right?" Snowpaw asked her, stepping in the way of the cats, who now murmured among themselves darkly.
"Traitor!" one of them yowled, and the others joined in.
We are just friends! What's the harm in that? Shine thought, her anger rising.
"That's enough." a strong, muscular grey she-cat approached, and the massive crowd of cats parted to let her through. She must be the leader. How cool! Shine thought, exited although her face showed no sign as she dipped her head in greeting to the massive cat. "Who are you?" she asked, narrowing her eyes at Shine.
"I am Shine. I mean no harm to your cats. I have befriended Snowpaw-is it?" Shine answered, giving a flick of the ears to Snowpaw. "And who are you?"
"I am Greystar, leader of SingeClan. Snowpaw has broken the warrior code. You have no right to be here. If you come back again, I will have you both exiled." Greystar warned. She must have no patience! Shine thought, shivering.

Moons have passed, and Shine is now a full grown cat. She has gotten stronger, although her friendship with Snowpaw grew just as much. They had many adventures, and the Clan never knew. Now comes one of the most important moments in Shine's life...

An owl hooted in the distance as Shine settled down with a mouse. Her hunting had improved, and now she felt she could take on any cat, any time. Snowpaw had been giving her hunting training at night. Waiting for her to come so they could play, Shine thought Snowpaw would never show up. Giving in to her tiredness, she slumped into her nest and fell into a dream.
Waking up, she saw Snowpaw rushing towards her, looking like the sun herself.
"Guess what, Shine?" Snowpaw asked, bouncing up and down excitedly.
"What?" Shine asked, curious. What could she want?
"I'm not Snowpaw anymore-I'm Snowfur! I'm a warrior now." Snowfur puffed out her chest, her pride showing brighter than StarClan.
Shine had been taught the warrior code and all about StarClan-she was more interested than she had ever been in anything. She loved the idea of Clans and the warrior code. Just then, Shine heard a rustling in the bushes, and Greystar came out, her anger flooding into the small clearing. Shine froze, knowing what would happen. Snowfur would be exiled!
Snowfur hung her head in shame, knowing what she had done. "Shine, this is not your fault." Snowfur told her, her flourescent blue eyes now dull compared to when she first saw her.
"Let's go, rouges." Greystar sneered, leading the way back to camp, her nose in the air with dignity as she entered the bramble camp and left the two in the clearing.
"I'm sorry." Shine whispered, guilt overwhelming her. She had gotten her only friend exiled from her Clan! Now what would she do?
"I am too. I brought you into this mess." Snowfur whispered back, their heads close together in a small group in the middle of the clearing.
Greystar stood tall on the Highrock and began to call a Clan meeting. "May all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather here underneath the Highrock for a Clan meeting!" she yowled, and the cats began to gather around the two cats, sneering, hissing, and spitting insults at them. Greystar raised her tail for silence.
"Snowfur has gone against my requests and has continued to stay as this rouges' friend. For that, I am exiling her. If anyone is to see Snowfur on our territory, kill her." Greystar hissed. "Snowfur, Shine, I give you this day only to leave our territory before my cats will kill you on sight. Now leave before I claw your pelts' off."

Shine's guilt overwhelmed her. Looking behind her, the trees seemed to be reaching towards her with grasping claws to attack her. Snowfur was worse, jumping whenever they stepped on a twig. We shouldn't be this slumped over that mange-pelted leader! That gives me an idea... Shine thought. "Snowfur! I just thought of the perfect idea..."

Snowfur brought in the next stack of brambles, leaves, and twigs covered in mud. They had finished half of the camp. The two had settled down just outside of their territory, where no other Clan was. Now they were their own Clan.... WeatherClan. Shine had found a huge rock that tower higher than SingeClan's. A small crevice in the bottom would become Shine's den, and there were small rabbit holes they were digging out for the warriors, apprentices, elders, and warriors dens. Now all they had left were the apprentices and elders den before the camp was finished. "Snowfur, do you recon I give myself a proper name?" Shine asked, her voice muffled by a stack of brambles as she weaved them onto the elders' den. It had one patch left until it was done.
"That's a great idea! How about...." Snowfur stopped a moment to think, her tail under her chin. "Shiningstar, because your spirit shines before this Clan like that of StarClan itself." She purred.

Shiningstar liked the new name, and she stuck with it to the very end. Now you may wonder... How did any cats get into this Clan? Well... Here's how...

Shiningstar let out a purr of thanks as Snowfur came and dropped a mouse at her feet. They shared, the leafbare making prey scarce. It was not long after they finished the camp that leafbare hit. Snow coated the dens, in which were now sturdy enough to withstand what seemed like anything. Shiningstar had almost finished her mouse when she heard an earsplitting cry for help. Giving Snowfur a nod, they both raced towards the noise. Hopefully nobody is hurt! Shiningstar worried, fear growing although she showed no sign of it. They twisted around a large birch tree to find a tortoiseshell she-cat with jet-black fur and emerald green eyes. She was laying on a small moss circle. She must live here! Shiningstar thought. The tortoiseshell let out another yowl. Then it hit Shiningstar-this cat was having kits!
What would she do? She didn't know medicine, neither did Snowfur. How would they help? Shiningstar turned to Snowfur and nodded, rushing towards the only Clan she knew-SingeClan. She knew she would be hated, but she knew what she had to do. Reaching the bramble camp, she rushed through the vine entrance, she heard spitting and yowling as she bolted into the medicine den. She was right-their medicine cat was there, sorting herbs in the back and muttering to herself.
"Please, help! There is a cat kitting and she looks in alot of pain and I don't know what to do and..." Shiningstar spilled out her thoughts like a wailing kit, leaving a shocked look on the medicine cats' face, which turned to determination as she followed Shiningstar out of the den. Then Shiningstars' biggest fear came true-Greystar was blocking the way out. "What have we here?" Greystar sneered, slowly creeping forward. "Shine has returned? Well... You know what that me-"
"Stop!" the medicine cat hissed. "She only came to help a cat. Is that too much to ask?"
Greystar looked shocked, stepping out of the way and hissing as Shiningstar lead the way out. Shiningstar dashed through the bushes, with the medicine cat-who had her herbs ready by this time-was dashing behind her, keeping pace easily. Hearing the tortoiseshell yowl again, she dashed faster, weaving through the trees quicker than she thought possible. Finding the birch tree again, she settled down next to Snowfur, who looked relieved that Shiningstar had brought help, and watched as the medicine cat treated quickly, giving her herbs faster than she could say "mouse". Soon, the kitting queen let out a final earsplitting yowl before Shiningstar turned to see a tiny kit, in which let out a feeble mew. The medicine cat handed the kit to Snowfur.
"Lick this kit clean." she ordered, turning to Shiningstar. "It was very brave of you to come into what you knew might have killed you to help this cat. StarClan will honor your bravery. I will mention this to the Clan."
Puffing out her chest, Shiningstar purred in thanks, watching as the medicine cat padded away across the forest floor, avoiding trees. Shiningstar turned to Snowfur, nodding as they rose up from the ground and looked to the queen. "Congratulations." Shiningstar purred.
"Thank you so much! If it weren't for you, I would have died!" the tortoiseshell purred. "Can I come with you? I would feel much safer if my kits grew around you. I will ask my mate, Pale, if he will come with me."
Shiningstar and Snowfur exchanged exited looks, turning to the queen. "That would be great." Shiningstar answered. "Follow me, I will take you to camp." Leading the way back, Shiningstar gave Snowfur a look as she scented mouse. Scurrying away, she saw it, taking small yet quick bites on a seed. Dropping low as she was taught, she crept across the undergrowth, slithering towards the mouse like that of an adder. Pouncing, she purred as she killed the mouse and held it in her jaws, drinking in the sweet scent of fresh-kill. Padding back to camp, she saw Snowfur holding the tortoiseshell's kit as she guided the queen inside of the nursery, tucking them into the moss nest and coming out to see Shiningstar. "She took a moment to see Pale, who lives quite close to us. He is comi-" Snowfur was broken off as a muscular grey tom padded into the camp, shouldering his way past the two. He looked unaffected by the snowy ground, his paws hard. Padding into the den, his gaze softened onto the new kit. Shiningstar followed him in, taking the first good look at the kit. It had the same pelt as Pale, although it had her mothers' eyes.
"It's getting late." Shiningstar jumped as Snowfur called down into the den. "We should be getting to sleep."
Taking Snowfur's advice, she padded into the leaders' den and slunk into her nest, falling asleep.

They continued as normal for the next moon, and the tortoiseshell became known as Fallentail. Pale was called Darkpelt, after his black-ish pelt. Nothing unusual happened-everything was normal. Now the season is Newleaf, the cold shallowing into a simple breeze. Today, Shiningstar would begin to lead her Clan.

Shiningstar woke up from dreaming, Snowfur prodding her awake. She heard commotion outside and began to worry. Was something wrong? She quickly woke up, padding outside. She ignored the aching in her back, for what she saw was more shocking than she could ever imagine. Standing at the entrance... Was every single cat other than Greystar of SingeClan. They all had ribs that pierced through their skin, starved. What happened to them?
"Greystar has become more strict..." one of them moaned.
"Featherpool told us of your courage, and we saw it ourselves. We have come to join you." a cat who looked like the old deputy added, stepping forward. "Will you accept us into your Clan?"
"You are all welcome to join. We will offer hospitality and friendship just as any other Clan, as long as you return that favor." Shiningstar called across the cats. "Snowfur is deputy, and I, Shiningstar, am your leader."
