Satisfaction of Sentinels job

They need a vacation

i agree with cheesezwheel. they dont do THAT good a job, but they try very hard, which i respect them for. they want to help keep the forums friendly. on other occasions, however, they can do a good job. it just depends on the mod themselves and how they handle different situations.

i reported this post for the ratings being in a weird order and the sentinels did not do anything so i rate them 0/0

They try their best. This forum would be chaos without them, spam everywhere and such.

I think 10 is a bit of an unrealistic rating, they aren't perfect but they try, so you do have to hand it to them for that.

the sents aren't the best, but they do try their best.
i feel like the community should report rulebreaking posts more so sents could see them, that'd solve a good amount of our problems.

Moderators work for the game, not really the forums.
Sentinels purely work for the forum and only the forum. But it's possible to be a moderator /and/ sentinel.

yeah sometimes it takes multiple reports to get their attention or maybe even contacting a sent on another platform, which can be pretty annoying.
i remember reporting a thread that broke the rules every day for a week until it finally got locked oh jeez

We greatly appreciate feedback from you guys.

Sometimes, reports get held up because we're all busy, but other times (I would actually say most of the time) we have a good discussion about the nature of what you guys report.

For example, reports have many different aspects that we take into account. These include your sanction history, severity of the offense (if any), how many posts break the rules in that incident, and any other social or logistical characteristic that may surround those circumstances.

I know we say this a lot, but please be patient as we try our best to moderate our community effectively! Doing so is a little bit slower and more straining currently because we are also almost done discussing some major rule changes here in the EN community. So, again, please be patient as we finalize some details and continue to discuss future directions for the EN forum.

Thank you, and feel free to continue the discussion!

Also, I will be moving this thread to the proper subforum, since it doesn't belong in Off Topic. ;)

All 14 of you are busy at the same time to the point where reports go unnoticed for hours? hmm.. I can believe that to SOME extent. I mean the majority of posts I see that are moderated are spam posts which I mean how much "discussion" does that warrant and for how long? Doesn't it get to a point where you just start recognizing repeated offenders of rulebreakers?

but ok we'll continue being "patient" though it's not like we really have a choice in the matter haha...

you tell us to report posts CONSTANTLY in the discords so if sanction history goes into it why should we at all when some of the users reporting are permed

Sanction history is taken into account in regard to the person being reported, not the person who is doing the reporting. Sorry if that was unclear.

Depending on the person and the history, we discuss things. I've been a Sentinel for almost 3 years and I still discuss most things that are reported to make sure we're all on the same page. You don't see what happens behind the scenes so you really have no perspective of the work that we are really doing. Sometimes things take a while, but if it's just spam then it really doesn't harm anyone the longer it's up, does it? It's usually different types of posts, but everything eventually gets dealt with after consulting our guidelines.

Also, when you have a team of 14 people who are mostly in the same few timezones, yes it's very common that we're all busy at the same times. We're volunteers. We have lives outside of the game that include family, work, school, and other commitments.
