No... This is a silly thing to discuss about.. Once an account is made it's made and controlled by one human. That's like saying "When my best friend dies I will just go live in her body." What about all of her/his other friends? They won't know it's a new person. This is really sad.. I would never want this to happen because I have old friends and if I just saw some newcomer with their old username it would upset me and.. I would just lose my mind!

There would, of course, need some sort of indication to who used to be known as who.

Many people want accounts deleted for more name opportunities, but think.

What if an account had a bunch of cheese, firsts, and saves, but was declared "inactive".

Think of that person's hard work, deleted.

If I were to take some role in implementing this feature, I'd probably make sure that there would be a pop-up prompt when you try to add a person whose username was one of the old ones.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, I mean something like
"Which of these is your friend?"

And then maybe the probably present forum avatars could accompany the names for confirmation and tapping a name could show the player's profile while a check mark by the avatar would add the person (or persons if you're unsure who is who '-')

Okay, I think it needs to be made clear we're assuming that the accounts wont be deleted; their names will only be altered.

Just pointing out that using an email address wasn't always an option, so I have no idea how the people who haven't played in 4 or 5 years would ever recover their account if they even remembered it in the first place.

As much as I have wished I could change my username, I don't know if I would if I were actually given the option.
