Building on the ideas of Deleting Account |

As I had seen some people who did not agree to deleting the account of people who never played or reused their name again. Maybe transformice should be like Facebook to activate or deactivate your account. Tfm can allow the players to chose how long they are going to deactivate their account and when they would not be around, in this case, their friends would know when they did not see them online and why. When the player account is deactivated, they could only reactivated after the time limits. There is a problem is what if hacker hacked your account and deactivated your account then..? How? Maybe, you could build on my ideas and think how about having the activation and deactivation mode?? Dernière modification le 1412319120000 |

i don't really see the point in this. what would deactivating it do other then cause hassle when you wanted to reactivate. It's not like someone else would be able to use the username, as what would happen when the original user came back? also, not everyone can predict a hiatus in gaming. If your computer fails for example, do deactivating before a break is not always possible. As someone who suddenly stopped playing this game for a year when i got addicted to MUDs I am VERY against the idea of deleting inactive accounts, there's always the chance they'll come back. And if they can remember their password or email then they will expect their stats and reputation to be entact |

No. Every player have their original account, if my account deleted; you can open account with my name and my friend hope this account is mine. Also, if my account deleted, I can open a account with my name, too. |

The reason why people are against the idea of inactive account deletion is because they play the game now and simply don't want people taking their username. Personally I think it's pretty selfish. If you cared so much for your account name you wouldn't let it fall under new ownership. This is Transformice's fifth year of operation. If someone took a username in 2010, played for 15 minutes and never returned, I think someone else should be able to take it. Perhaps it could work like the new tribes update. If someone tries to make an account using an inactive account's username (someone who hasn't logged in for a number of years), that inactive account would receive an underscore or something along those lines. Also, I would prefer to be able to change our usernames before something like this were to be implemented so that we could take the usernames and not have to create a new account to take the username we want. ^-^ Dernière modification le 1412838840000 |

I'm very against deleting inactive accounts. Like i said i stopped for just over a year -and then came back-. the ONLY way i can think of doing it would be to email the registered email once the account had not been used in a long, long time, like 3-5 years, and ask them to click a link to confirm they still remember they have a TFM account or it will be deactivated and the name will become free again. This will of course, not be applicable to people who don't register an email. But TBH i dunno why they wouldn't, it adds more security and (if i reember right) gives you free cheese, so this would be another "perk" for registering, no unannounced deactivations. |

Since this has been suggested over and over again people always get scared that they'll somehow lose their account. This fear is highly unrealistic. As has been mentioned above, it's of great importance that inactivity is clearly defined. This has been done nicely with the recently added possibility to recreate abandoned tribes and reuse their names: they are only considered inactive when there are no members. Possible definitions have also extensively been discussed here. |

hey, i'm with this i don't understand why people are so against this. as long as you're active in atelier 801 games, you're fine if you're inactive due to school or whatever is one thing and is understandable but playing for oh, 5 minutes, then never logging on again is another i think accounts that haven't been active for 3 or 4 years and don't have very much progress on their accounts should be deleted for example- an account made in may 2010 with only 5 cheese gathered would go however, an account made in june 2010 with oh idk, 1k cheese would stay, as it shows they're active, and with 1k cheese gathered, it shows they've made progress and attempted to collect cheese. and there's a small possibility that they'll come back and if people are worried about losing their friends, i don't know why they should even consider deleting their account in the first place but if they really do want to delete their account, but don't want to lose their friends, they could simply see if their friend has some type of IM account and talk to them there? |

Kayleekitti a dit : That doesn't show that they're active unless they're still logging in every now and then. |

Xanthefleur a dit : yeah, that's what i meant as long as you're logging in every now and then, and at least try to collect cheese, you should be fine |

I like the idea in all but what I'm REALLY concerned about is lets say some new mouse comes in or lets say the name change thing is finally implemented, and one player purposely takes the person who deleted they're accounts username. Impersonation?! |

^ The idea of impersonation is really disgusting and I don't want to have my hopes up because a familiar name from the golden ages pops up and whoops, it's someone who just wants to ruin their name or be funny. I agree that a certain amount of cheese like 1000 should also keep you in the clear because people who just want to claim names don't put enough effort into collecting cheese on a side account. I'm not sure how registration goes now, but I sure hope confirming an email is forced. It would just make things easier.. |

I think it would be a good idea, and if you submitted your email to change passwords then you would get a message saying that you account has been inactive for too long, and it will be deleted in x days even if they had a lot of cheese, it doesn't matter when they never go on anymore. Maybe the accounts should be deleted after 18 months of inactivity? |

I'm pretty sure they'd only delete accounts with less than x cheese so you won't see another Thejkb. |

When I first started tfm in 2011, I played for a summer and then stopped. I didn't intend to come back. However, two years later I was back and glad to have my old account. (Also past me had left me a good amount of cheese to spend; thanks, past me.) My biggest concern about something like this ever occurring is that someone would take my name and my friends would think it was me. Anyway, who would want the name "Neerva" for any reason other than impersonating me? It's a name I made up. |

I think that after five years of inactivity, the accounts should be deleted. |

With the ability to change our usernames being worked on and hopefully close to completion, I'm hopeful that inactive names will be released. Re-releasing inactive names should work like the system they used to merge extinction accounts into transformice where names had the '+' symbol added to them. Except this time it would only apply to accounts which had not logged in for 'input reasonable amount of time' to be deemed inactive and have their names altered. *Exactly like what Xanthefleur had suggested Dernière modification le 1432188540000 |

They recently put a system into World of warcraft where a person can request a username via a ticket if the person has been inactive for X period of time. It basically gives you the name and promps the other person to change next time they log in. As someone with a terrible username it would also be great to see a name change option even if it cost x fraises |

If an account has a specific amount of cheese or cumulative play time (since not all things in the game give cheese), then it should be safe from deletion or name recycling. Otherwise, any account not meeting the minimum standards would be marked as "recycled" / deleted, and the name could be up for grabs after 2 years from last login. If the original person registered an email, they could still access their account and choose a new name (although if you register your email, that could be another thing that makes your account undeleteable). |
