They only bite if provoked, like most animals. One of the most misunderstood thing about animals is that they might bite willy nilly for the shits and giggles. Only people do that, and maybe dogs.
It's not dangerous at all, and they can be handled. However, being the natural slight-arachnophobe I am, I just poked it and made it walk into a plastic container. I didn't necessarily hold it so much as I herded it.
