for real tho, it depends what kind of relationship you have with that person. just keep in mind that:

a) if it's someone that you admire but don't properly know, you should definitely get to know them better before asking them out
b) if it's a friend and you're worried about ruining your friendship, know that that's unlikely to happen, especially if they're close (unless you make it super awkward for them).
c) the worst thing that can happen is that they turn you down, which isn't the end of the world. there's over 7 billion people on the planet i'm sure there's somebody else that you're going to want to ask out

if you're looking for conversation starters, there's def. nothing wrong with just going to the person and saying "hey i think you're pretty cool and also pretty cute wanna go out with me?" + "we can eat pizza together. i'll pay. but only for the first one, you're paying for anything else we order sorry bucko" (the second set is optional)

(i'm super bad at social situations but the way i deal with awkward situations is to just be honest. if you're feeling nervous, literally just be like "hey dude i'm super nervous right now but you should date me b/c i'm actually pretty cool". i guess it does depend on the person you're asking out and the type of person you, yourself, are tho.)
