Thunderai a dit : I see Justice not..as penalties but help and emotional help to the "true victims"..those who were mostly impacted by the Boston Marathon Bombing, and that the parties would be as equal. That each party would be helped up so they could return to a "normal" life. However, this is if Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was mentally challenged It wouldn't really matter, would it? In this society, we want "justice"--no? "Death"--the reason I didn't want to initally respond Go to trial to most likely be convicted as guilty.. That's why I'm coming off as "defensive".. --- But if he was truly a pawn, shouldn't he be freed from the organization he was forced to bomb for. (That considering he wasn't the mastermind..) Imagine having a great life (as I've heard and seen from the news) to being wanted and manhunted in Boston with your brother dead and your father hating you. I couldn't live that life--and I'd find it hard to find myself in that situation. I'd kill myself, probably. I really don't know why he hasn't already. |

Greekyogurt a dit : I am under the view that there are several forms of justice. As you say, yes helping or rehabilitation is a good form. However at the heart of it, people have to be punished too for breaking the law (Whatever crime they commit). One thing I have noticed about your points in todays debate is it focuses a lot of 'ifs'. Two again were used here: 'If here was mentally challenged', 'If he was a pawn'. If he was a pawn, then he still has to be punished for the crimes he has committed. If he is mentally challenged, then sure, a mental hospital is where he will end up. That's of course if he is found guilty, which isn't a certainty at all. One thing I will say is I do think the death penalty is wrong, and I can't see how baying for the blood of the killer does actually help. In terms of punishment, spending the rest of your life behind bars is a lot better in my eyes. Though of course some prisoners spend years on death row anyway. Oh your edit: For your 'imagine' part, he elected to place himself in that position to be honest. He could've handed himself in to avoid this entire saga. |

Haruhitastic a dit : i watched it \o/ and obama's address also about the people saying that he shouldn't be killed or put in jail because he could have some sort of "mental illness": there had to be some sort of motive people who are mentally ill do not just randomly pull terrorist attacks and if he was that mentally ill, his uncle and other family members that they interviewed know that he's not mentally ill and said that they NEVER suspected him to do something like this so yes in my opinion he does deserve a penalty to the maximum extent of the law no need to defend terrorists who killed 4 innocent people and injured 100s more if you're also thinking "well people make mistakes, he's just a kid": i'm sure that he had plenty of time to think about what he was doing and now he'll have even more when he's sitting in jail or worse |

Fancyforeve a dit : Obama can't do anything! ♥LEARNTHEJUDICIALSYSTEM♥ Maraoone a dit : There were so many bombs spread throughout Boston, I'm sure it wasn't just them. But I feel like the younger brother may have been conned into this, perhaps against his will, as he had scholarships to DARTMOUTH of all places. |
