beer you can buy at the stardrop saloon. click on the little block at the counter.

If your chicken can walk around in an area with grass, you don't need to feed them. they really like grass and become very happy when eating it. Open the hatch to allow this. At 6pm they go to sleep and i suggest closing the hatch for the night. They become happier that way
If they can't though, you can buy hay at Marnie and put it in the feeding bench.
A second option is getting a silo build, using a scythe on grass will place hay inside the silo (50% chance per grass).
You can then take the hay from the hay hopper and put it on the bench.
There is no grass in the winter, so make sure to stock up on hay before you enter the season!
