I can imagine lots of impostors or kids trying to impersonate famous people/mods etc...
Another thing which is very disappointing is the free change. There are people who paid 1,5k fraises for a username change like me and if I would have known that in two years a free change name option would've got added, I wouldn't have spent my fraises like that.
I also know a few people who paid to change user recently, and I fell pretty bad for them...
I really would like to ask one kind thing: For us old players, instead of adding #0000... Don't add a tag at all at least for respect or somewhat of way to recognize an original name. If this request will get accepted, the new changed system wont make any huge difference for me. (Except for impostors, clearly.)

The #0000 tag will be in default for old players if they DON'T change their nickname. Example: When the system be released my nickname will be Ikkemon#0000 if I change it to Toffeetiny, it will be Toffeetiny #1234, I'll lose the default tag. There's no need to be worried about the tags.

This system is pretty awesome and you are finally telling us something. But if I won't change my name now, will my tag be #0000 forever?

And although this is really nice and I'm glad you are doing something for TFM too, I still wonder why you aren't telling us about the other news. Meli's baby has been born, so we should at least know that it might be the reason there are no new events. Or is it Dead Maze that makes it harder for you to create new content? See? We don't know anything behind the scenes and running a successful company should be about communicating with it's users in this case.

Dead Maze forums aren't open still publicly, we didn't get any info about the chest system and/or if it is still going to be developed somehow, most TFM players still don't even know about Dead Maze's existence as the game was advertised everywhere but your own forum page.

And if there are things that you aren't sure how to handle (like how to create new events in Meli's absence) you can just ask the community. We might have a solution that you didn't think about. And you could also check the Ideas subforum to check for events. Albinoska's events are amazing and should definitely be developed. One of the DM artists should get a day where she/he draws this new event and then a programmer programs it. It's easy.

But I've explained more in a comment on the Event Guidelines post. I'll link it here once I get home.

why? just why? it's not as if there are a shortage of possible usernames. I don't want some troll using my name in any form

I don't understand how this can be a good idea. Discord has a fragmented community where there is a really low chance that players with the same nickname end up in the same chatroom. Meanwhile, the different communities on Transformice are very intertwined with one another and the possibility to communicate between communities is widespread. Phishing, harassment and impersonation will get a new boost with this new name system, because it'll be easier than ever before to trick people into believing you're someone else.
