the japanese voiced ones were considered an anime but the english dubbed ones were always considered cartoons because they changed so much from the japanese anime

Kind of a debate if it's an anime or not sometimes. The Japanese Pokemon anime is anime but the English dubbed ones are considered as a cartoon for some odd reason. Most people don't consider the English dubbed an anime while the original is anime.

Anyways, if you count a person who watches TV everyday, goes to the theater every release, buys movies and shows, and practically lives for shows, movies, and anime. . . How the heck do you count that?

Not really, the definition of an anime is japanese animation so it is - by definition - an anime. Like I said, getting editted by 4kids really doesn't put whether a show is an anime or not in question.
