[Discussion] Atelier801 should more frequantly announce about their rolled out updates |

By this I mean that the members of the Atelier801 company should really put a little more thought upon telling us, what has changed inside of the game. It has been for quite some time when the updates are being rolled out without notifying the community about what that update was and it has become rare to see any announcements on the Announcements sub-forum, never on /version and even more rarely on Trello. • The perfect example of this is the Name change feature that has been released to the public a week ago. But obviously most of the Transformice players don't even know about it, because it has not been announced yet (even though on Twitter, it was told that they will announce the coming of the Name change a day before it actually comes out). Those who did find out about it, they found out when their friends have suddenly changed their names. • Another recent example is that the titles are finally being generalized by gender, like for an example: Princess of Transformice can be switched into Prince of Transformice, by changing your gender in game into a male. While this is a really small update, it is still an update worth noticing. These are just 2 little examples of actually a lot of updates that has been rolled out over the past half of a year. Now to clarify something to everyone: I understand that a lot of those server restarts are dedicated towards the game maintenance and/or fixing or adding something that is not available to the public knowledge and that is all fine. I wrote this topic not with an intention to attack, insult, bash or anything of the sorts. I do respect the Admins and I simply wanted to add my critique as a fellow Transformice player about this subject and create a discussion in the hopes to find more players who feel the same. I do honestly think that the Admins should communicate with the global community more and be a little more transparent upon what is being changed inside of the game and how does it affect us, because right now, we see a lot of restarts and changes, but no one ever announces us about the changes. So, am I the only one who feels like this? Dernière modification le 1469462460000 |

Agreed, that's literally what the announcement section in the forum is for. Didn't know about the title change based on gender until now. |

I agree, they should have a version changelog or somewhere that they announce minor tweaks when they roll out the updates. However, I've known about the name change since day 1 (and I changed my name and have since been spreading the news constantly in-game bc I'm clarifying who I was), someone mentioned it in the event thread-- which I keep up with. I'd also noticed the gender-specific titles, because I was like "oh that's... sort of new" and compared them to my own. BUT I DO AGREE. BOTH OF THESE THINGS COULD HAVE BEEN ANNOUNCED. Male/Female Titles Female: /title 16 -> «Shaman Duchess» /title 17 -> «Shaman Princess» /title 18 -> «Shaman Empress» /title 40 -> «The Cheese Priestess» /title 89 -> «Princess of Transformice» /title 99 -> «Lady Chamane» /title 123 -> «Actress Mouse» /title 211 -> «Temptress» /title 251 -> «Fiancée» /title 356 -> «Caramel Duchess» Male: /title 16 -> «Shaman Duke» /title 17 -> «Shaman Prince» /title 18 -> «Shaman Emperor» /title 40 -> «The Cheese Priest» /title 89 -> «Prince of Transformice» /title 99 -> «Sir Chamane» /title 123 -> «Actor Mouse» /title 211 -> «Tempter» /title 251 -> «Fiancé» /title 356 -> «Caramel Duke» ** Should be noted if you're like me and don't specify a gender, oddly it defaults to masculine titles instead of the vanilla feminine ones. N1mh a dit : what about «King of Bootcamp» and «Queen of Bootcamp» |

I was just using my list of titles to compare, I would assume King/Queen of Bootcamp would be on there. I'm also assuming "Queen of Cheese" for 75k gathered cheese would becoming "King of Cheese". As well as Demigoddess Shaman (80k regular saves) and Goddess Shaman (100k regular saves) would both have masculine counterparts. |

How do you know they were definite updates and it wasn't just another beta test to see what happens when a lot of players use the feature? |

No, you're definitely not the only one who feels that way. It's been a recurring problem for the past 6 years. Luckily, the admins seem to have a good 2k16 track record with recent updates such as the name change and binary gender-accommodated titles, and they're still on the right track. Even if their recent updates seem to be kept under wraps for the most part, they have been very successful. Take the name change, for example: users who change their names are given a clean slate (even if it is possible to find their old identity, but what matters is that their old usernames weren't explicitly given to anyone after said user's name change), the feature is reasonably priced, there are incentives such as being able to utilize underscores and having a higher character limit, etc. Before I go on, what people need to realize is that this communication is a two-way street. Without their more avid players, all of the admins' updates go roughly unnoticed. The admins definitely could work on announcing their updates, and I've stressed this many times in the past. Take Apple, a Fortune 500 company, for example. Right off the bat you can distinguish them as a company who is successful, and this is in part by their great operations in public relations. The iPhone SE is basically just the iPhone 5 with more memory and greater visual quality, but to the general public it is portrayed as "new, grand, great, the next big thing for small phones." For Atelier 801, it is quite the opposite in that BIG updates such as the name change, which is certainly one of the most grand endeavours 801, in its lifetime, has taken to implement get hardly recognized........... but it can still be applied. Ignore the name change for now. What if Meli was in the process of illustrating every single character in the game so that people could use them as reference for fanart/fics? One approach she'd be able to take is releasing one illustration each week, and teasing the next one to generate hype. Now imagine what 801 would be able to do with something like name changes if they applied this same instance to name changing? "Out with the old, in with the new," Meli states on a new announcement, with a silhouetted image that illustrates "before/after" for a random mouse. Wouldn't this be confusing? The ambiguity lets players get hyped up. "NAME CHANGES!" "NEW MOUSE DESIGN!!!!??" "The controversy!!" All these theories would spread, because people want others to hear their thoughts. Even without these theories, at least the announcement is official, so people who only care about what the admins have to say would be able to find out and increase the recognition count. If they had doubts about the admins' work ethic, that'd quickly be eliminated (given that they've forgotten how hard they worked on adventures.... lmao). sofianosm a dit : The cafe could be so much more. There really needs to be a column where admins can post. That way, players can find things out in-game DIRECTLY from the admins without having to have been online and reading the chat at the time that the admins announced something. |

Anythin a dit : It is not just the things that I've mentioned in the start of the thread, this trend has been going on for at least (if not more) half a year. There we're numerous of updates that people have found out only from the recent changes thread, someone telling us inside of the game or by pure accident. And I would not call those updates beta tests, as they simply stayed there. Same with the Name change. If it was on beta, then it would not be open for public and it would only be allowed for staff members Dernière modification le 1469470200000 |
