I'm almost certain this isn't the correct place to post this, but this kind of thing happens so often to children/user's let alone me, that it kind of disgusts me. I understand that this website doesn't have much of a age restriction, and if it does, I haven't heard about it, but as much as older people play this game, and have access to this game, so do children. I've had multiple instances where someone significantly older than me or at least over the age of 18 tries to message me/whisper me in game, almost to the point where every time I log in, I get at least one weird or suggestion message or a few from these older people (More commonly men). Now, I've been playing this game since 2013, and over those 4 years, I've heard of occurrences like these, and experienced occurrences like these. I'm fortunately of an age and maturity where I'm not as easily manipulated and/or taken advantage of, but I fear for some of the younger children that play this game that have been targets, or are potential targets. I have here just one example of what I'm talking about, in case you, reader, are a bit confused with what I'm describing: <removed images> This is just one of the more milder occurrences. I can't stress enough how, although there is a 'Report' and 'Ignore' tool to use for these occurrences, that doesn't stop anyone from following through with their actions before they're reported. If this is a game for children from the age of 6-12, Make it a game for that age bracket, if this game is for teenagers from the age of 13-16, Make it a game for that age bracket, if this is a game for adults from age 18+, Make it a game for that age bracket. Its dangerous to mix 6 year olds with 18 years olds. Please, I'm making this post in hopes that someone will see this and take action to filter out potential threats or to improve the experience for all ages if this game is intended to stay for all ages. There are ways to have all ages be able to play and still make a safe game. Dernière modification le 1510095960000 |

I forgot to add too, that this is also an awareness post, to alert players/users that this does happen, and please be careful. If someone you don't know is sending you weird or suggestive messages, Report and Ignore them immediately Please be safe.. |

I can see where you're coming from, however there's nothing to do aside from warn the younger players of the game, this being almost impossible since there are so many players that it's impossible to root them out. Private Policy a dit : source The Private Policy specifically say that this game is recommended for ages 13+, so people should know what they're going into, and it's their fault for not reading it. Do notice, though, that most of the whispers you receive like those are just trolls. Very rarely does actual threat come real to general players* in this game from what I can see. *This excluding the individual cases of bullying, which of course should be handled individually. It's the internet, and if kids want to play with strangers then they should know full well what they're going for. |

if anyone receives whispers like these, simple ignore the person or use the /silence function. we are fully aware that child predators can be lurking everywhere, just avoid them at all costs and you'll be fine. children should know online safety before getting online initially. |

amazed didnt spoke up about some part of profile pictures...some just put selfies of theirselves as trying to get attention which is just wrong and shouldnt be encouraged as this possibly increases a chance for any person to PM. |

The messages in your screenshots don't look like they were typed by an adult, let alone "significantly older". He looks like a 14 year old french teen who can barely speak English and is a total asshole. These kind of young people are very common and I'd see them everywhere everyday when I used to play. In fact, as an adult myself people around that age have tried to "flirt" with me in a similar way too, thinking I'm a girl their age because for some reason they believe my mouse's outfit is an accurate representation of the real person behind it. Basically I've been harassed too, a lot of times, and MOST of these people turned out to be teenagers, you can tell most of the time, well at least I could tell. An actual adult who wanted to take advantage of children wouldn't act anything like that, in fact you'd probably not notice their age and they'd probably try to be nice to you instead of randomly throwing insults in broken English. If you wanted to "take action" against actual children predators you couldn't since there's no reliable way to tell if when you're talking to one. If you want to report general harassment or people being annoying like that french guy you can do so anytime by reporting them. I don't think there's anymore that can be done other than removing the chat/whispers entirely, which is not a good idea imo. The best you can do is raise awareness and educate children and young people properly so that they don't fall for this kind of people (whether it is annoying teenagers wanting to hit on you, or naughty adults with bad intentions). Also children under 13 are not supposed to play although we all know they do and will always do. |

This is clearly a problem, but not only, but in the same social networks. But, apart from that, they are jokers who want to have a good time. Dernière modification le 1510025400000 |

Honestly, I don't think OP said anything wrong. I don't know if the accused in the thread intended to lure kids, but either way all reports should be investigated. The only problem is that it might not gain a moderator's attention because it would only be one person who reported it versus dozens who report hackers at the same moment. Also, screenshots might not be considered to be good evidence because many tend to edit them. Moreover, most people playing this game probably don't know that it's intended for age 13+ because it's stated in an extremely long text of terms of license that perhaps nobody reads before joining. Don't even expect children below the mentioned age to take it into consideration. It would've been better to include a box to tick to state that the player was over 13 years old at the registration window. At least everyone registering would know that one information, whether they're of age or not. So, yes, I do partially blame Atelier801 for this and believe that an action should be taken urgently. As Cyanny said, yes, nobody ever read the Term of Service unless you're those pedantic few, let alone children. I think this problem isn't exclusive to this game, but rather many others. Yes, I agree that their should be age brackets but isn't it very easy for a malicious adult to pretend to be a child? That system could be easily abused and now we're back to square one. This problem will exist unless the game take a change of pace and remove all social features altogether. Digital Literacy and Netiquette may help, but you know kids. There's no easy solution, whether it be age brackets, filters, or otherwise. Smart people will always find a way to get around all this, and well, that's the way it is in this world. The best way to counteract is is for the game to be stripped of its social interactions. If no one could speak, this wouldn't be a problem [probably]. This may be a shallow action, but it's targeting the root it. Dernière modification le 1511494620000 |

Admins have purposely claimed this game is intentionally 13+ and part of this reason is to avoid these sort of problems. So kids, just be good and stay out of places that you're not suppose to be then you'll be just fine. ^^ |

Sravikq a dit : Exactly, before most kids get themselves into trouble, they should be aware that the Private Policy clearly stated the game is 13+. |

Toddlers, preteens and adolescents have always been known for disobeying their parents and doing things behind their back. Many of them nowadays are deluded into thinking that they had already known all the dangerous situations they might stumble across. And that's totally wrong. That's why, in my opinion at least, it's not OK to blame them entirely for being lured by a pedophile. More likely they were not aware of what would happen if they weren't over the allowed age. No matter what, every single report should be investigated. Keep in mind that adolescents (ranging from 13 to 18 years), too, can be fooled online easily. So not every report comes from a kid who had broken the rules. |

Nyaohiteu a dit : No, you are not a pedophile as long as you're not sexually attracted to those under the age of 18. |

For the past month, unknown users have been whispering me questions like: "Where are you from" and "How old are you?" It disgusts me, and after reading many stories on things like this, I am horrified. I have blocked all random whispers and reported them, and if you can relate to similar problems, I recommend the same. |

Enkoh a dit : Yes, I was on earlier today and I've had three people messaging me wanting to be friends, wanting to know if I'm a boy or girl because they want to "marry" me, wanting to know my name, etc. I have a feeling they're just trying to be nice and are truly wanting to make friends, but I'm still kind of... suspicious.. about this.. |
