COVID-19 Virus Discussion |

Purple_days a dit : or either that. at the beginning i thought that it got out [kind of] on intention to lessen the people around this world aka do some natural selection and that afterwards it would dissolve or find a cure to put an end to it and move on (as we should of been months ago). but seeing it only causes nothing but mindfucks the more you think bout it wouldnt make you doubt this might be an endless war whlist living under the uncertainty you might catch it anywhere anytime. Ae_86 a dit : big long response i felt the same way during the beginning of quarantine. its important to understand, though, while this virus isn’t going away completely, it will probably end up like the flu vaccination wise and such. people have talked about how we might have to get a vaccination every year, like we do flu shots. quickly want to address this view point of it “never ending.” we have many other deadly viruses out there and there have been times in history where we have had to quarantine. obviously, not as recent, but still. i want to remind you that these people were able to go about their normal day to day life after. vaccines will help make things better, too. obviously, covid will exist after this pandemic, but with a vaccine it will be less likely to spread and cause death. im hoping this quarantine helps people understand the importance of vaccines, but also helps us look at the system we live in and be able to criticize it. i don’t know what it will be like after this, but i do know that a majority of us will be left with a mark and this mark can, and will, heal. lastly, i want to address the idea of “natural selection” and the virus, which i found a lot of people like me had a similar idea to. this is an ecofascist thing to say and i want people to recognize that it is harmful. before the pandemic, i was told the reason the world is suffering is overpopulation. this is blatantly false. here’s a quick article on ecofascism by teenvogue, i think it does a good job of explaining it. its easy for white americans to say “humans are the virus” after seeing this quarantine, but i want to put the idea in your head that we, like every living and breathing creature, are worthy of existing on this planet. the reason the world is suffering is the amount of greenhouse gases we are making by fracking, mining oil, burning coal, etc. heres a study i thought was interesting on this. i know that last part was loosely related to the actual topic, so let me propose a question: are you planning on getting the vaccine? how has COVID-19 effected you and/or your family? how has it effected your country and what have you learned over quarantine about yourself, the world you live in, or just in general? anyways, sorry for the long post and happy year anniversary to quarantine in the US.... i hope you guys are having an okay year despite it all and i encourage you to go outside with friends, safely and responsibly <3! edit// i will also begin editing the thread around summer, as some information is outdated and needs to be updated Dernière modification le 1616365680000 |

Lane a dit : Interesting! Which vaccine is this? I know that many people refuse to be vaccinated with AstraZeneca because of cases of thrombosis. Anyway, it's the same in my country, in France. Vaccination is open to those over 55 and eligible as you said. Chlobro a dit : Natural selection corresponds to the influence that certain environmental factors exert on the individual survival or reproduction of organisms, depending on their degree of adaptation more or less advanced to its factors. Here, the environmental factor is obviously the virus. So, in my humble opinion as a chemistry-biology student, this is indeed natural selection. It's hard to say, in common thought, but this difficulty in saying it comes from the ignorance of what natural selection is, and it's not ecofaschist to say it. And, be careful, I did say "adaptation" and not "adaptability" : people don't adapt themselves, they already have the "potentiality" before. vaccination here is open to anyone 16+ lol a lot of my friends have gotten it already |

Curtis a dit : WHAT? :O Dude here not even half the elders got the vaccine and their already giving it to people below 60(teachers I guess) plus some others literally stomping on each other due to being paranoid! It's all a mess! Nightingale a dit : Is this even true for the big part of the people? Like it can also be due to an individual's personal health problems. When it comes the time for younger people(including me) to get the vaccine, we'll already be dust! |

the vaccine might be available to 12+ soon, but the time that it happens (if it does) and when i turn 16 are very close to each other so it won't make much of a difference for me |

Curtis a dit : Your country has taken a right vaccine policy it seems. In my home, only 7.37% of the population is fully vaccinated. If I had made the vaccine policy, I would have done it in such a way that, if an appointment was made to get vaccinated, people at risk (comorbidities, age, etc.) would have been given priority. But anyone could make an appointment! This way of doing things is efficient: we don't lose doses. In the event of a wainting line in a vaccinodrome, these same people at risk would have priority! In addition, I remain personally convinced that if the government had provided us with FFP2 masks, the pandemic would have been less extensive. I said "provide", but they could have put them at the same price as the surgical masks ... Indeed, surgical masks only filter in one direction (only the exhalations, not the inspirations). FFP2 masks filter inspirations and expirations, which is very useful in public transport in particular (but not only!). Essme a dit : You're absolutely right. But if a vaccine has more risks than benefits, I don't think it's a good vaccine (I'm not saying that this is the case with AstraZeneca). |

my mom made an appointment for me because some health officer told her that i was eligible at least 4 months before my birthday, but that was false, so i couldnt get it lol i was less worried about not getting vaccinated and more worried about what was going to happen to the dose they had prepared for me, turns out it went to someone else so at least thats good Dernière modification le 1619209380000 |

Curtis a dit : Your country's immunization policy is very similar to that of Israel! In addition, I would just like to add that sites have been created in France (my country) so as not to lose a dose, such as "Vite ma dose" (in English "Quickly my dose") or "CovidListe". Like what, the collective intelligence and the synergy of associations, individuals and doctors exist and is very effective! It gives a little hope ... |

yeah here people wait in lines for hours sometimes just to see if there are any vaccined doses left at vaccination places after the day ends, because if people don't show up for appointments they give the extra doses to the first people in line |

Curtis a dit : Amazing! Wish here was more like that. |

In my point of view, the two most worrying pieces of information, at present, are the arrival of the Indian mutant (which affects young people more and with different symptoms) and the fact that it seems that vaccinated people can be infected (which is totally contradictory in theory, but happened in practice!). |
0 | ||
Nightingale a dit : God help I don't get that since almost all the younger people are acting like nothing's happening(like some more adults too). Nightingale a dit : True but they get infected again if their not careful, some think that since the disease is gone they can go back to "normal". |
Nightingale « Consul » 1619548860000

Essme a dit : I think we shouldn't generalize ... Essme a dit : I can understand them after all ... We all want to get back to normal. But people who have been vaccinated need to understand that the vaccine is unfortunately not 100% effective. |

Nightingale a dit : I wasn't trying too but it's just plain outrageous. We won't get rid of this virus sooner or later. |

i’m fully vaccinated as of yesterday ^_^ if anyones still iffy on the side effects of the vaccines, i got the pfizer vaccine and i feel pretty good! the most i have is a sore arm, but its not awful, i can still move it and such (just a bit of a pain to lie on, like most shots) i guess i’ll pose another question! for those who have gotten the vaccine, how do you feel? which vaccine did you get and did you experience any side effects? for those who haven’t, are you excited to get the vaccine? how do you feel currently and how has your country or state been distributing the vaccine (if they have at all, that is)? just more of a note for me: i’m about to get into my finals for school, i will update this thread as summer rolls around and i’m out of school. |
