Hello, I am Basgetti. For my readers who’ve stuck with me for a long time, this is a reboot of my first fanfiction - Vampiric Situations. I was really attached to the idea at the time but grew out of it, and when re-reading through it I decided I really didn’t want to continue the original. So, like any sane person would do, I gave myself more work- I mean, rewrote it. Yeah. That. I rewrote it, haha. I’ve been working on this for the past couple months, with a few dozen character additions and revamps and design edits - only my characters, mind you - and I finally ended up with this. I hope you enjoy RE: Vampiric Situations. DISCLAIMER: This’ll probably have a few sensitive topics/cursing and blood/gore. (Because Vampires.) Read at your own risk, please~ I do not consider one side or another to be good and bad, as they both have their faults. The story will switch points of views between the mortals and the vampires. Mortals Eye Color: Silver Grace Keeble Female 22 Honest and blunt about it, Clever/Imaginative, loves pulling pranks, Paranoid She has a history with gambling, and due to many winnings owns a mansion in the hilltops on private property where only she and her few servants live. Khris Gender: Male Age: 20 Personality: Shy, curious, jittery, humorous, flexible Bio: Old enough to live on his own, Khris enjoyed a middle-class life and a steady job as a shaman. As the conflicts between mice and vampires grew, he soon became reluctant to work, and skipped days every so often whenever he had "an uneasy feeling." To close friends, he's the life of the party, while others barely notice him. Though fearful and fragile, Khris is willing to do whatever he can for someone in need. Sky Alexander Walker Gender: male Age: 18 Personality: sneaky, caring, brave, most of the time kind, but when he's out of bed too early or in stress he is rude. Bio: He was used to live on a ranch with his mom and dad. One day when he was seven his ranch got attacked by a vampire. Only he survived the attack but he left with his left eye scratched and blind. he still remembers that day, but never wants a revenge over that, but peace with the vamps. Eye Color: Sky-Blue Elliot (Leader of the Slayer Society) Male 20 Careful, Sharp-tongued, Kind around his friends, Thinks alot After his family was taken out by vampires, he swore to kill them all, and he refuses to die in the process. Eye Color: Dual-Colored, One each color of the hair (One is Toxic Green, the other Dull Violet) Fog Tsukuda Female 18 Cold, Rude, Blunt, Sharp-tongued, Violent, Somewhat psychosomatic After being locked in a basement cellar for fifteen years and being rescued by a demon, Fog wandered the surface in amazement for three years. However, she’d broken during her confinement, leaving her rude and apathetic. She was admitted to a hospital almost as soon as someone saw her on the streets, where she was fed daily to the point where she was healthy again, and then released. She now attends school as friends with the only two people who’ve ever tried to get to know her, Crow and Light. Eye Color: The Darker Color on the Tie Crow Fujita Male 18 Clever, Manipulative, Violent, Prankster, Joker, Short-tempered Trained in the Wildling Shaman Class, Crow is a violent prankster who won’t hesitate to harass anyone, including his friends and family. Eye Color: Orange Colburn Freed Male 27 Serious, Analytical, Doesn’t like to be corrected He works as a Judge for the vampire council and has a strong sense of right and wrong. His sense of justice and ability to look for clues began there and only grew as time went on, turning him into an efficient judge. Eye Color: Deep Red Brunelle Rettore (Heir to the Rettore Family, Acting Head) Male 23 Malicious, Clever, Rude, Teases everyone, Manipulative He grew up ignored and developed somewhat of an Inferiority Complex because of it, which is why he’s rude and sharp-tongued. Most of the time he tries to bring attention to himself and revels in teasing others and manipulation. He’s the type of guy who’d make a morbid joke in a room full of people and be the only one to laugh. He was hired by the Zephyr family and monitors mortal blood loss. Eye Color: Dull Gray Ramsey Murdoch (Runs the Murdoch Blood Company) Male 22 Quiet, Rude, Attitudinal, Sharp-Tongued, Spiteful, Likes sweets Ramsey was raised strictly by his parents. Welcome people smiling. Bow when they leave. Use polite words. Treat guests with respect. He hated it. He hated being polite to aristocrats and vampires with high status that treated his family without respect. They acted like his family was dirt-poor and should be groveling at their feet. His mother said they were important. He thought they should go jump in a lake. His family had money and resources - he was important, too. One day he acted out and snapped back at one of the aristocrats who was looking to recruit his family. Although he was the main brewer when it came to synthetic blood - his family’s responsibility and company product - they were talking to his parents as if he wasn’t there. His parents kicked him out afterward, so he started his own business, which grew considerably. He’d taken his recipe with him - his parents couldn’t brew it right; they’d never watched him or cared to pay attention - and he drove them out of business. When they came back begging, he cast them away. Over the years between his abandonment and the present, he lost his mannerisms and became cold, judgemental, and quiet. Eye Color: Metallic Blue Siren Maxwell Male 25 Serious, Strong, Not easily manipulated, Curious, Analytical He works in the police force and monitors radars and statistics. He’s determined to help anyone in need, no matter whom it might be. Most of his work is missing persons cases, because he’s good at putting together facts. He tends to get more work as a detective rather than an officer, so most patrols for his shift are filled by his co-workers. He feels a little guilty about it. He wants to help anyone and everyone in need, no matter who the person or their past. Because of this, he unintentionally gets in trouble often. Eye Color: Bright Red Rhodochrous Kiall (Heir to the Kiall Family) Female 17 Cheerful, Somewhat Manipulative, Curious, Worrisome Her job is to monitor human and vampire interaction, as shown by her pureblood family’s ability to manipulate dreams and memories. She feels guilty about removing mortal memories, especially important ones, but she also knows what the vampires must do to survive; which is to prevent the mortals from knowing anything about them. She has connections with the leader of the Slayer Society, as they were once friends in the past. Her father claims that she is too young and immature to lead the Kiall Family. Eye Color: Dull Red (The Same Color as the Skull Earring’s Eyes) Graive Oshiro Male 47 Careful, Analytical, Smart, Kind-Hearted The owner of a small shop on the outskirts of the main city, Graive performs funeral rituals while also taking care of Umber’s younger sister, Ani. He’s let various vampires and mortals who’ve strayed too far stay at his shop if it’s raining or snowing outside as it would be too dangerous to leave, etc. He’s kept many small things as mementos of past customers. Eye Color: Light Gold (Similar to the Hair) Mudasir Harunaka (Heir to the Harunaka Family) Male 15 Worrisome, Lazy, Likes Food and Sleeping, Compliant Due to his lack of real government experience, his opinion is often disregarded by everyone else. However, he hardly speaks anyway, and his opinions are usually obvious and useless. Despite this, he does his job somewhat faithfully, but alot of things end up going over his head and end up as lost information. His parents don’t believe that he can really lead the Harunaka Family one day. Gadgetrocks a dit : Leeeeeeeeeevi a dit : You must fill out this form. Keep in mind that I can either accept or decline your character as I see fit. Chances are that any added characters will be more of side-characters rather than protagonists/antagonists. This is not ascertained, though. This was formerly ten pages. I shortened it, and it still ended up at five pages... and I didn't even mention The Slayer Society. B L E H Anyway, go read the thing !! “Expand the feeding territory? A-Akira, that’s absurd! There’s no way that the mortal mice will accept it… Are you r-really sure about this?” The Vampire Council had gathered on a chilly Autumn evening to discuss the matter of mortal blood. The problem was that they were lacking in supply; the agreed-upon feeding territory and volunteers weren’t providing enough blood to nourish the hungry vampires in Oppi Tenebris, and illegal feedings were growing to be common. Illegal feedings meant paperwork and trouble for the vampires, neither of which any of the gathered council members felt like putting up with. “I know that it’d take negotiation. I wouldn’t have proposed the idea in the first place if I thought it impossible. It’s our only choice; if we don’t take drastic measures, vampires will start dying. It’s my job to prevent that, Levesque, and you are perfectly aware of my sense of duty.” Meekly, the brunette-furred vampire turned his head aside, not wanting to look the one-eyed vampire in the single narrowed crimson eye that he knew was judging him. It wasn’t rare for the younger vampire to look away from Akira, however - most vampires, including authoritative figures, found it difficult to look the black-furred Zephyr heir in the eye when he was angry or frustrated. “Even if that’s the case, the change may cause the mortals to build resistance…” A grey-furred vampire in a black magistrate’s robe began carefully, his sunny-orange eyes gleaming with thoughtfulness. “They have already. You’ll just add fuel to the fire, Zephyr.” “It’s not like we can continue to live off of volunteers’ blood, and there’ve been arguments against artificial blood. Vampires don’t want to drink synthetic blood.” “If we start getting aggressive, though…” The judge traced his claw in a circle on the table with a frown, wings shifting uneasily and tail twitching nervously, betraying his usually well-hidden worry. “Some vampires are aggressive already. You, as the main judge, should know that.” “I know, but if we all start getting aggressive, they might do more than chase us off.” “It’s a risk we’ll have to take.” Akira snapped, his visible crimson eye flaring with frustration. “My job is to ensure that vampires live. This is the measure we have to take to make that happen.” “Even so,” A suave voice cut in, and everyone’s eyes turned to meet the calm gaze of the black-furred vampire who was in charge of measuring mortal blood loss. “They’ll start killing off vampires. They’re awful close to finding the means to do so.~ In fact, I think they have already.” “Wh-What do you mean? How do you know for sure?” The brunette-furred vampire from earlier - whose job was watching over feeding territory and documenting illegal feedings - nearly-shouted in disbelief and exasperation, his bright green eyes flickering with panic. “We have spies for a reason. Specifically, Volty’s spies.” The suave vampire replied, raising an eyebrow at the rest of the council with a slight smirk. “You’ve been contacting Voltaire?” Akira narrowed his one eye at the auburn-haired fiend, his tail twitching in irritation. “I think I’m the only one he talks to anymore.” The black-furred vampire drew out his thoughtful expression purposefully. “Yeah, I should be the only one. Besides the spies, anyway.” “You know how dangerous he is, Rettore. That’s why he’s been exiled in the first place.” Akira’s tail continued to twitch irritably. He would punish the suave vampire, but he didn’t have the authority to do so, and by far he was the highest ranking vampire currently at the council hall. The higher-ups - such as his father and the Kyuketsuki family - were busy. “Danger is my middle name.” The black-furred vampire teased, his blood-coloured eyes glinting with amusement as he stared at the Zephyr heir, as if silently challenging him. “It isn’t, and it wouldn’t mean anything if it was.” The one-eyed vampire shot in return, looking irritated. He was already stressed, and the auburn-haired vampire’s nonchalant attitude as well as the new information that he was communicating with Voltaire wasn’t helping with it. “You know that contact with Exiles is strictly forbidden.” Brunelle waved a clawed paw at the air, dismissing the conflict as nonchalantly as he’d brought it up. “Back to the topic at hand. There’s problems with expanding the feeding territory.” Akira seethed, gritting his teeth to keep himself from exploding at the usually-suave vampire across the table. He hated the way that he’d made his activities seem insignificant, when in reality it was considered highly illegal by the vampire government. He knew that the Rettore Family had influence, but he wasn’t sure just how far that influence stretched. “B-Between the illegal feedings and amount of recent vampire deaths, expanding the territory does seem like the only pliable option.” The brunette-furred vampire from before interrupted the brief moment of silence, looking uneasy. “Harunaka also said that… that vampires have been trying to eat each other, in some cases.” The council fell silent, and each head turned to face the green-eyed male that’d spoken as well as Mudasir Harunaka, who was seated beside him. “Eat each other?” A hesitant voice finally asked, belonging to a silver-furred vampire in a police uniform. “Y-Yeah.” Mudasir replied uneasily, unused to copious amounts of attention. “According to recent corpses, there are… bite marks on the necks of vampires.” Uneasy glances were shared throughout the members of the council; all but three members looked unnerved by the new information - Brunelle Rettore - the suave vampire who’d spoken earlier - A white-furred vampire off to the side wearing a medical mask, and a vampire donned in a black suit, his silver-gray hair messy and mostly unkempt. “Vampires and mortals were never meant to get along.” The white-furred vampire spoke, his voice calm and monotonous. Akira turned to him, narrowing his crimson eye at him. The speaker, however, didn’t seem fazed by the intimidating Zephyr heir - his expressionless face didn’t move an inch upon eye contact. “Even if you try, there is no possible way for an alliance between mortals and vampires to exist. There are too many issues. Although, I really don’t see why I have to say this every time we hold a meeting. It never seems to get through your head. I’m beginning to wonder if your skull is as thick as the Earth’s crust.” “We still have to try. We will always try.” The white-furred vampire shook his head in response, averting his gaze to the floor. “Murdoch, you’re in this council for a reason.” The addressed vampire raised his head again. “Not for any important reason. I create artificial blood, nothing more. I’m insignificant. Disposable to nobles like you.” “Your job is important; that’s why you’re here. Your input is important, and I have you here so that I can hear it.” “My input? Okay, here’s my input: No matter what you do, there will always be a problem. There is no solution, and there is no peace. You cannot create peace between bloodsucking monsters and their victims. Happy?” The white-furred fiend was glaring now, causing the pink-furred female beside him to inch away slightly. Nobody liked Ramsey when he was in a foul mood. “That’s why you’re here!” The gray-furred judge from earlier called out in protest, his sunny-orange eyes frantic. “You and your company exist to solve problems like this!” “You know as well I do, Colburn, that some vampires will not be appeased with synthetic blood alone. That’s why you’ve had so much work recently, isn’t it?” Colburn seethed at his reply, but he knew very well that it was true. More vampires were attacking mortals - those who weren’t government-issued volunteers - and it was causing an unbelievable amount of trouble for the court. There were multitudes of cases every day. Most of the pleas were flat-out guilty, the accused claiming that the crime was committed out of a craving for actual blood. “The artificial blood created by Murdoch Co. doesn’t have the right nutrients.” Ramsey continued. “While we do try to make it as similar as possible to natural blood, it doesn’t provide the right nourishment. It only tastes alike mortal blood. That’s why most vampires disregard it.” “That’s right.” The brunette-furred vampire from earlier curled his smaller-than-average wings to his back and twirled a section of hair around in his claw nervously. “There are many more abnormal feedings lately because of the blood issue.” “How far away from the volunteer border are the feedings getting, Levesque?” Akira pressed, drumming several claws repeatedly on the table that the council was currently seated at. “As far as I have on record, the furthest was about a mile or so… I believe it can only get further.” The small vampire replied, averting the executive’s eyes for a brief moment. “We need to expand the territory. The citizens will be notified, of course… After all, everyone who lives within feeding grounds are willing volunteers.” “Are abnormal feedings happening often?” The pink-furred female seated beside Ramsey asked curiously, her round red eyes studying the smaller vampire. “Er… They’re getting more frequent. The numbers have been steadily increasing as volunteers started growing ill from blood loss and the vampire population started growing sick of synthetic blood.” Umber replied uneasily, his green eyes betraying the fact that he wasn’t used to being addressed as often as he had throughout this particular meeting. The female nodded slightly, slinking back in her seat. “We’ll take a vote.” Ramsey cut in abruptly, sounding aggravated. “I’m tired of standing around and talking about this. It’s giving me a headache.” Despite his anger, Akira had already agreed in previous meetings that whenever a council member called for a vote, it’d be done. Colburn had liked the idea then; it reminded him of a jury. Slips of paper were spread among the gathered vampires. Answers were written, and the papers were passed back to Akira, who served as the metaphorical foreman of the metaphorical jury-style vote. Quickly, the Zephyr heir flipped through the pages, counting. “It’s a unanimous vote.” He announced after several moments of silence. “We’re expanding the territory.” An audible sigh of both relief and anxiety passed through the council hall directly before a vampiress - white-furred with pretty, braided light-brown hair - stood up; she’d been sitting to the side the entire time, not saying a word. However, that was fitting for her role - she wasn’t necessarily important. She mostly ran errands, as she was hired by Akira. Her narrowed eyes scanned the nine vampires at the table. “It’s about time you rowdy bunch made up your mind.” She wrote a memo - faster than Akira could tell her what to write - and passed it to him. “Now you need to go take this up with your daddy and get it “officially approved.” In an instant, she vanished, stalking out of the room. The one-eyed vampire sighed. “Sure. Thanks, Adelina.” “She’s full of sass.” Umber sighed exasperatedly, draping over the table with a relieved sigh. He rested his head in his arms. “But I’m glad the stress is over. The room had such a serious atmosphere.” “Now that I think about it, it does seem calmer in here.” The silver-furred officer vampire muttered, nodding his head. His ice-blue hair bobbed as he did so. “I imagine that you’d appreciate something calming once in a while, Siren.” Colburn commented. The officer nodded. “And it’s nice not to see a dead body for a day.” The funeral vampire sighed. “Especially not one on fire.” His tail twitched and his wings drooped as he, too, rested his head against the table. “Who’s watching your shop?” Umber asked, his green eyes focused on the ash-grey-furred vampire. “I got Ani to do it. She’s the only one who works there who wouldn’t mind setting up a funeral pyre.” The explanation made Umber smile slightly. “Death isn’t exactly and easy thing to go through acknowledging.” The vampire with fur a similar shade to mud muttered. “Oh, calm down, Mudasir.” The vampiress with bright-pink fur cooed, her blue eyes filled with amusement. Her small wings fluttered as she giggled. “You worry too much.” Mudasir let out a puff of breath and slouched onto the table. “That’s easy for you to say, Rhodochrous.” The pink-furred female shrugged and stood up. “Are we done here, Graive?” The ash-furred mouse shrugged. “I guess. The conversation at hand is over, and the conflict is solved; at least for now.” Calmly and in two swift motions, the funeral vampire stood up and left. A few of the gathered council followed him. “What a bother, coming here and talking for so long.” Ramsey sighed as he and Brunelle - the only two remaining in the council hall - left together. ----- “Did you hear?” A one-eyed vampire - donned in a nice-looking tailcoat - entered the generously-sized room of his master, the white-furred heir of the Kyuketsuki family. “Hear what?” The butler’s master glanced away from his sharpened claws and dropped his paw in his lap to look at the blue-haired eighteen-year-old in front of him. “The council had another meeting today.” “And I wasn’t invited again?” Katsu’s voice seemed to almost drip with a kind of annoyed type of venom, making Claude uneasy. “Your parents most likely hid the invitation letter. They’ve done it before.” The mention of his parents made the Kyuketsuki heir sit up straight in his seat. He almost seemed annoyed by the topic. If Claude hadn’t known how he was raised, he probably would’ve agreed with the thought. “To Hell with my parents. They’re stupid. I mean, this plan they keep talking about? How the Hell are you going to take over the world? The council won’t let them do that.” Katsu’s butler shrugged slightly, sitting down on the expensive-looking chair beside the aristocrat’s bed. The Kyuketsuki heir’s wings drooped and he sat up straight with a “serious” expression and an exaggerated mimicking pose. “You should be responsible. You should be mature. You’re going to lead the family and the world one day.” His tone was mocking as he made a mouth motion with his claws. The blue-haired servant near him started to snicker, holding one paw over his mouth. Afterward, he sighed dramatically and lay down on his bed, wings splayed outward at an awkward angle. His parents kept him cooped up in the mansion, only leaving to kill or infect a few mortals every so often (although he rarely actually did so - it’s not like they were around to make sure he did it, anyway) - which was about as eventful as it got for him. Claude was his childhood friend - although raised as his servant - and was truly the only one he could joke around with like he did. He had to give his friend some credit - the poor thing served as a messenger between Katsu and his parents, or Katsu and the vampire council, or Katsu and the world. Not to mention, he kept the manor that the two lived in clean and tidy. He almost felt bad that the Kiernan heir felt obligated out of habit to obey his every word. The vampire’s servant watched him quietly. “You seem tired. You should sleep.” “I am tired. I will sleep.” Both vampires smiled slightly at the joking manner of the reply as the aristocrat shifted into a more comfortable position. Claude pulled a blanket over him, allowing him to rest. Without another word, the servant snuffed the candle on the bedside table and left the room. At that point, Katsu was already asleep. Dernière modification le 1503390000000 |

sHORTENED CHAPTER SO THAT I cAN RELEASE IT WITHIN THE TIME CRUNCH SHHH NOBODY NEEDS TO KNOW Anyways uh y eah read it or w/e A lone mouse sat in a room, inspecting paperwork underneath his clawtips and grimacing in disgust at the words that littered the pages. It wasn’t often that paperwork from the Vampire Council find its way into Elliot Cross’s paws, but he supposed that the mayor of the state had deemed this important enough that he need look at it. Of course, he was naturally opposed to the idea presented on the page before him. Selfish scoundrels. He repeated the phrase in his head several times as he read over the pages in front of him several times, almost not believing his eyes, although at the same time, he was far from surprised. They’ll do anything to keep control over us. The white-furred mouse looked up when the door creaked open, revealing the similarly white-furred and freckled face of Scott Hiker, Elliot’s closest friend and ally. Elliot nodded slightly as the redheaded mouse stepped inside, returning his oceanic eyes to the paperwork in front of him and grimacing once again, lip curled upward in an angry, disturbed snarl. “Somethin’ botherin’ ya, Elli?” Scott didn’t seem to mind his friend’s angry state as he sat across from his desk, resting his paw against his cheek and his elbow against the desk. The disgruntled blonde mouse dropped the pages on the desk and ran his paws through his hair, claws raking gently against his skull and alleviating his slight headache temporarily. “Oh, yeah. Something’s bothering me. Definitely, one-hundred-percent bothering me.” Elliot leaned back in his chair, gesturing dramatically at the Vampire Council’s paperwork. “They want to expand the feeding territory.” “Well, think about it without bein’ blinded by your fiery rage right quick.” Scott’s heavily-accented tone warned, and he fiddled lightly with the collar of his camouflage jacket. “Everyone that lives in the feeding territory are willin’ volunteers, right?” The redhead’s friend nodded slowly, although he didn’t seem all-too-happy to be admitting it. “Well, the mice livin’ in the expanded area’ll move out after bein’ notified if they want to. But if they expand the territory, Elli,” A small smirk danced across Scott’s freckled face. “...that means that vampires will be closer to us, which makes our job easier, ya know.” The blonde sighed and ran his paw through his hair again before looking away and repeating the motions, obviously thinking about it. He liked having Scott around for this reason; the freckled, camo-loving redhead always had more composure than he did. However, he was still highly opposed to the idea of being closed in even further by his natural enemies. Finally, he looked his freckled friend in the eye and nodded. “Right, right. If we can keep the others rightfully safe, we should do it…” “There ya go, Elli. See? Stakin’ everythin’ through the heart ain’t the solution to everythin’ now, is it?” “Yes, it is.” The blonde mumbled to himself too quietly for his friend to hear, standing up. “No, I suppose not. Call the mayor and let him know that this is to be approved for the safety of the mice.” Scott nodded at him and left, leaving the slayer leader alone with his thoughts. |

I made it longer this time three google doc pages, to be exact to make up for Chapter 1's shortness had a ton of fun writing it tho; go read, go read !!! “Vampires? I’m sorry, Gadget, but what do you want to talk about regarding vampires?” Sky - a one-eyed redheaded boy with a playful, kind smirk - glanced at his friend, slight indignance in his tone. Of course, he was putting up a front; very rarely did he like to talk about the so-called “monsters” that lived on the other side of The Border. The ones that killed his family. Inspecting Gadget’s innocent-looking, black-furred face, Sky’s tail twitches, the sun ornament chained to it rattling slightly in protest to his movements as he does so. He silently thanked the fact that he had friends in the same grade who wouldn’t tease him for his facial deformities, although he couldn’t say the same about other students. Just as Gadget opened her mouth to speak, the two were interrupted. “Well, look at that. Freaks do come together.” The school’s most-hated bully and jock, Crow Fujita, came into Sky’s peripheral view. The dark-furred mouse had a smirk gracing his expression, tossing a valuable fraise into the air before catching it in his paw and repeating the motion, dark violet meeting scarlet and fuschia-pink. Gadget frowned slightly, taking a few steps back to duck behind the protection of her friend, who met Crow’s eyes with an annoyed grimace. Behind the well-known bully were his two friends, who shared matching blank-faced expressions. Fog Tsukuda and Light Yamasaki were nowhere near as threatening as the mouse standing in front of them, but their indifferent expressions aggravated many of Crow’s victims to no end. However, nobody was strong enough nor brave enough to stand against him. Tail swaying with clear malevolence, Crow’s presence lorded over Sky despite the latter’s height advantage. The taller mouse took a slight step back, not wanting to shove Gadget to the floor by accident. “I didn’t know that one-eye and the freak liked to hang out. Hm. Fits a pair of losers, though.” “Bug off, Fujita.” A voice - once again - interrupted the conflict surrounding Sky and Gadget. Sky tried to ignore his general confusion as to why so many people felt the need to jump into his business. “Oh? And one-eye’s one-eyed buddy comes to jump in. Did your little master send you?” Claude didn’t answer, wavy blue locks encapsuling a coldly-expressioned face. If Sky didn’t know any better, he’d say that the usually-quiet butler mouse was ready to tear Crow apart with his bare paws. However, the sophisticated Kiernen boy made no attempt at the arrogant jock in front of him, instead moving to stand in front of Sky and Gadget. Crow grimaced, obviously annoyed at the other teen’s actions. “What if I don’t want to “bug off”?” The dark-furred jock stopped tossing his fraise, instead holding it in his paw as he tilts his head, his neck cracking in the process. His arrogant, dark eyes rested behind darksteel frames, which shifted only slightly as he made the motion. “Then I will fight you. But you will not win.” Claude threatened, his odd appearance seeming as though it were blatantly pointed out in the bright light of the hallway, the thin horns on his head faintly lit and his electric-blue hair faintly shining with the light’s reflection. The thin stitching that ran across his muzzle seemed a stark contrast, the black thread lackluster and dull. “Would you look at that?” Crow laughed, the dark fur on his muzzle crinkling together and creating a small shadow across the front of his face, his hair shadowing the upper part of his eyes. For a moment, he nearly seemed insane. “Lanky servant-boy says he’s gonna fight me and win.” It didn’t take long for a small crowd to gather around the well-known jock and lesser-known butler-boy. Sky seemed mildly horrified to realize that Claude was far from kidding around, and backed up a little with Gadget still on his heels. Fog and Light stood indecisively and uncaringly behind Crow; a fair fight was a fair fight. It would be one-to-one. Despite the tense air, a small giggle rolled through the crowd when a voice in the back shouted “Roll Initiative!” and a twenty-sided die clattered across the floor to the other side of the room closest to the wall. Of course, Claude and Crow payed no mind to the geek and started for one another. While this was happening, Katsu stood in the front line of the crowd, watching his servant with a falsified indifferent look. Of course, he was hardly worried for Claude’s safety - he knew his closest friend’s limits, and they were far beyond Crow’s laughable abilities. However, a voice in the back of his mind declared that if Claude was injured enough that Crow be torn apart from the inside out. He tried not to listen to it. The Kyuketsuki heir stepped back as Crow was grappled and thrown to the floor, skidding near his feet and growling in discontempt at Claude, who remained unscathed save for a small scratch on his cheek from the first chunk of the fight, which had consisted mostly of lunges and clawing motions. The butler was standing above him, looking down in a way that could only be described as scarily condescending, and cheers arose from the crowd - mostly for Claude - as Crow struggled to his feet again. Fog watched on with a raised brow as the dark-furred jock she called a friend lunged for Claude again, only to be sidestepped away from and elbowed down, letting out an audible “oomph” as he made contact with the linoleum cafeteria floor. Honestly, she was both amused and irked by the fact that the strongest mouse she knew was losing. Light, on the other paw, was furiously scribbling away in his notebook, documenting everything he saw. Claude seemed faintly amused as the dark-furred jock tried once more to attack him, only to be sidestepped a second time. The Egyptian designs decorating his body were almost hypnotizing to the eye as he jumped upward, orange and white glistening off the ceiling lights, accompanied by hues of brown and blue. Crow grunted with a mixture of anger and defeat as the butler landed neatly on his shoulders, using his weight to topple the jock to the ground and pin him there. The fight was over. Claude had held through on his word. The gathered crowd was in excited disarray, including Sky, who had been watching with intent anxious horror the entire time, mostly fearing for Claude’s safety. However, his eyes lit up when he realized that Crow was the one pinned to the floor underneath the naturally-thin butler, who refused to let him stand. Gadget was cheering, clapping her paws together excitedly at the sight. “What the hell is going on out here?” Many mice scurried away at the sound of one of the teacher’s voices; however, Claude, Katsu, Sky, and Gadget, and the bully trio stayed in place. Fog and Light were once more indifferent, and Katsu had the lightest of condescending smirks gracing his expression. Claude’s expression was blank, and Sky could only stand, dumbfounded at what he had just witnessed. Gadget still seemed happy at Crow’s failure. “Kiernen, what are you doing?” The butler squirmed in slight protest as he was pulled up by the collar of his shirt and set down on the ground again, Crow groaning lightly in pain and not quite understanding that he had been the one to lose. The bespectacled teacher frowned pointedly at the remaining mice, the others having scurried back to their lunch tables to avoid punishment for being involved somehow. “I want you all in the principle’s office. Now.” ----- It only took about half an hour of explanation and convincing for Claude and Katsu to get off without punishment (not to mention the bribe money that Katsu had slipped underneath the principal’s desk while everyone else’s attention was occupied); Gadget and Sky needed only explain they were victims to Crow’s relentless bullying to leave unreprimanded. Crow was suspended for three days, and his friends only earned a light scolding for letting him be so rude and reckless, to which they didn’t seem to care. Then, they were free to go. ----- Sky found himself wandering to the pair of friends a day or so later, mostly intent on thanking Claude for saving him and Gadget from Crow’s teasing. Katsu looked up at the redhead from his lunch - which was a relatively simple meal that his servant had made that morning. Of course, the meal itself held no nutritional value, but the blood capsules inside of it did. The blood wasn’t real blood, unfortunately, but rather blood provided and sold in said capsules (as well as in other forms) by the Murdoch Blood Company on the vampire side of The Border. Claude moved over a bit so that Sky had room to sit down, pulling his school necessities with him. Taking the invitation, the one-eyed redhead took up the now-open space beside Claude, who was also quietly eating his meal, which was prepared in a similar fashion to Katsu’s. He figured, after all, that it was the easiest way to sneak blood into food. “So, what made you want to sit here?” Katsu raised a disinterested eyebrow at the generally-alone mouse as he took another bite of his food, Claude glancing at him from the corner of his eye. Sky seemed relatively sheepish as he looked to Claude. “I wanted to thank you. For… the other day.” Tail twitching nervously, Sky glanced back to Katsu. “You really helped me and Gadget back there, so…” It was at the mention of Gadget that Katsu seemed immediately more interested, his own tail flicking back and forth, betraying said interest. “Gadget, hmm?” The pale mouse rested his head against his palm, absent-mindedly twirling his hair around a claw as he did so. “Yes; she’s my friend.” Sky explained, seemingly nervous that both servant and master were staring at him. So he doesn’t know? Claude thought, and he could tell that his closest friend was thinking the same thing as he glanced to him; his expression spoke the words he did not, although Sky, he guessed, must’ve been too daft or too oblivious to read it correctly. The three of them spoke for the remainder of the lunch period, Sky finding the company of the two surprisingly comforting despite Katsu’s sass, the two’s usually-intimidating looks, and the pouts he recieved from other students, who were whispering amongst themselves, most eyes upon Katsu’s table - as per usual for the popular and rich Kyuketsuki heir. Of course, none of them knew of his vampiric heritage, only that his family lived across The Border. The day ended in peace, at least for Sky. And for that, he was satisfied. ----- It would only be a few days later before Sky would hear the rumours that had been spreading. ----- Katsu gagged with laughter, Claude seeming embarrassed, face flushed red.
