Why are shared accounts allowed or even considered to be fair on any level?

I don't believe they are allowed? On the RO server at least, our moderator made a thread in which he informed us to DM him with a specific layout all the shared on internet accounts we find to ban them.

I highly suggest you don't log on to other accounts because this could increase your ban (ban evasion).

Shared accounts are allowed, but public accounts are not. Why? You'd have to ask a moderator for a better answer, but it's likely because shared accounts may be hard to 100% confirm as a shared account, while public accounts are very easy to confirm.

A moderator can go more in-depth than I can but the key difference there is: public accounts are those where the information is available to anyone. A shared account is an account shared between friends.

Sounds like just your account was banned while your IP wasn't, which is why you can still connect on other accounts.

At what point is an account considered shared? I'd log into my ex's account for a few moments to change his avatar, but never longer than that. Is that still considered shared?

If someone else knows the password to the account and can log into it, it's considered shared and wouldn't be safe for a staff position.

These are accounts established for use by Mapcrew. They are mostly used by our trial mapcrew members, as they are still in training and are not given Mapcrew powers on their own account.
