Anything depermed as a result of the broken lava would be returned if it were to be reverted... doesn't seem that's going to happen though.

I'm more hopeful somebody will find a workaround (not sure how though).

Is there a new rule of bootcamps to only use rectangle grounds or do I have something wrong with my computer?

It's a new feature in the tools menu. Click the wrench and disable minimalists mode and automatic optimizations if you want things to look normal again. Disabling auto-optimizations is just to make sure the game doesn't revert back to it.

Otherwise I don't believe there is a rule about it.

I played for about 20 minutes earlier, half the maps were broken, on the others the sync was terrible, and for the rest the sham builds weren't acting right. I haven't a clue what's going on.

mewbzz told me there were 119 maps of 1100 or so in racing that contained lava.
of those maps the ones I listed above were defective
