Anythin a dit :
As long as the trade is unequal (cheese is donated but nothing is given in return) I don't like to see this happen.

Donations are never equal, however, in this case you at least get something to look at to prove you donated or contributed (hopefully). Whenever someone donates something, they don't get anything in return. Hence a donation, not a trade.

That situation only applies when you don't leave or get kicked out of the tribe after you have donated cheese. My point is that it'll be very easy to trick players into "donating" their cheese, and then remove them from the tribe so they have nothing in return.

I'm of course assuming that you would only donate to a tribe if you have been there for a decent amount of time and plan on staying there for a while, that is if you even like your tribemates. Assuming that, there'd be no reason for the tribe leader to kick you out after donating. Most tribes are for the companionship and they probably wouldn't be looking to kick members after they donate, especially if they don't necessarily get anything besides some decoration. Also it's just stupid to do so, that's a lot of trouble to go through for a decoration. The leader would have to keep the player in the tribe for at least a week and wait for them to donate, and if a member did stay in a tribe for only a mere week they wouldn't be likely to donate much cheese anyways. If a leader did plan to even do this effectively they'd need large masses of people to join and donate before kicking, that's a lot of tabs to keep. If someone were to fall into such a trap of some desperate leader and stay in a tribe for a week before donating a whopping 200+ cheese, it's their fault anyways. That is similar to giving away a password, or granting some stranger a rank that can exclude others in your tribe; it's not something that can be fixed by anything other than one's own security and decisions.

You'd be surprised how often tribe leaders decide to kick players because they change their mind or want to do something different with the tribe. Some tribes consist of close groups of friends, but other tribes are very dynamic and see people come and go all the time. It would be very unfortunate if you'd get kicked RIGHT after you had so much fun in the tribe you decided to donate some cheese to support the tribe. It's really not as uncommon as you think, people get kicked and change tribes all the time.

That doesn't really excuse the leader in question to trick these players with this suggested donation system. Considering that a lot of players already get scammed and therefore evidently are not capable of handling the responsibility of their own actions, should we really expose these players to yet another feature that enables them to lose items?

The only way I can see this feature ever being implemented in a safe way is that players loan their cheese to the tribe, and whenever they leave the tribe they take their loaned cheese with them. This way they won't lose any cheese permanently but still can contribute to the tribe. It'll also remove the possibility to take advantage of mice who are not aware of what they are doing.

Excuse me if i read incorrectly, but i never read anywhere that the tribe leaders get profit in this. it's the tribe that gets it. Though I see your point, donations are an option and it's like signing a contract. You have to agree to knowing that some people are mean to others and trick them.

Since the tribe leader is the only one with the power to use this donated cheese, it's worth to mention that they have at least some kind of interest in getting a lot of cheese. Even if they cannot use the cheese for themselves, they are the only one that get to choose what happens with the cheese.
