Haruhitastic a dit :
I've read the "Introduce Yourself!" thread in four different community forums and to see an age over 15 is rare.

Sample Size?

Whiskypickle a dit :
A lot of these contracts are standard templates passed around from business to business. I dont know if this one in particular was drawn up from scratch but it's a fairly standard format. If it was in a court of law I doubt a judge would find 'Age 13' unclear enough for ther clause to be scrapped since age is universally considered in years. But I digress.

Yes, I've known and used some of these templates. Still, I'm of the opinion that the terms were translated from French since the evidence otherwise isn't convincing yet. I'm still determined to find and cruelly mock ambiguities, mwahaha!

But anyway, I don't think the terms of service by itself really does anything about the age issue raised by the original post. You know as well as I do that kids will most likely just click "Accept" without actually understanding the contents.

Shamousey a dit :
Not to mention it uses the phrase "13 years of age" there too, which should clear up any issues you have with that.

Ah, but you quoted that from a different clause which actually is independent of the one where "age 13" is mentioned, so it doesn't necessarily connect!

I'm sorry, I didn't realise a "sample size" was required when it's a general statement.

Then parents need to raise their kids properly; alternatively get them off the damn PC.

I readed that thought , also i'm 12 will this make me kicked out ? ;;
Really that was a Quetion

The question is, are there too many kids who are SERIOUSLY young whom create problems? I find forums a bit annoying and spammy now adays and I miss old friends from the EN chat who left because of it. Ingame, there are too many little kids going on about 'Shaman lixo noob idiot fuk off bich' and all that. YES, it's always been going on, but not to the current degree.

Of course you can make all the statements you want, but woudn't it give your thoughts more convincing power behind them when you use facts or sound statistics to back you up? If it's just a generalization off an unspecified number of observations, you might as well just go with "most of what I've read", instead of citing specific places, right?

Uh, I don't understand how that responds to my comment at all...

Sorry, I meant to specifically refer to >You know as well as I do that kids will most likely just click "Accept" without actually understanding the contents.

Therefore their parents need to be watching over them. I know when I would join any site I would ask my parents and they would look over it with me. Then again I'm old as fuck.

I dunno; I've been around for a while and it has been a thing even before with about the same intensity. My concern is not so much that these kids create troubles, but more about how they'd influence the "good kids" to become like them.

That's also another concern. Too many young kids are swearing and bantering at this young age. I sound like an Old-Fashioned mum but it's true.
Seeteegee a dit :
How do you determine the average age of the players on the forum? Is there some sort of user profile here that I've never seen?

Would you like me to quote the ridiculous things they say that make it blatantly obvious 3/4ths of them are really young?

Indeed, it is. Even at my current age, I still don't swear at all. I personally find it unnecessary and immature to swear, with needing to take out certain emotions in the form of destructive speech, etc. I guess it makes these kids feel "powerful"?

Oh, and it's not just the swearing that bothers me as I mentioned. The general "aura" this fast-paced game gives off, with giving importance to "being pro" and all breeds hostility and destruction among such young people.

The thing is not only the underage children are swearing, they are "inheriting" from those in age, aged 15+ (?)
you cannot assume is only the young players that are making all this, some that are older are also doing it.

I think this problem is easily solvable by choosing with who you want to hang around with. If you're not fond of little kids, go to different rooms and play with people you believe are not underaged. Ignore people you do not wish to be involved with. It's impossible to prevent little children from accessing a website like transformice, without limiting the ability to introduce the game to potential new players.

I swear partly due to my raising; my father is a retired cop who regularly swore because it was a "weapon" against the bad guy to enduce fear into them (because what's scarier -- im gonna fucking beat your ass or im gonna beat your bum), other reasons provided above, but making them feel powerful is also another reason I'm sure

Ahh, but avoiding the problem won't make it go away. Again, I don't mind the kids; I just hate the bad attitude and how it *breeds* on Transformice.

I guess it leads to a wider issue that there is little to no education on internet etiquette. The internet will be a large part of every child, teen and adult's life in most countries these days yet we aren't taught anything on how to use it or to communicate properly with other people.

I could write much more on this but i'm rather tired so i'll see how this turns out tomorrow.

While TFM has the 13+ rule, I know that it's sort of... not helping the business if the staff were to make strict age rules and things. But does anyone else feel SOMETHING has to be done?

Oh I know! Ofc that's true, it's just very hard to pull them AWAY from the influence.

Haha you're very strong to have control over those things. I find swearing much more fitting when I drip a rock on my toe :^)

Yes, swearing from kids is always going to happen. It's just so spammy and annoying these days. Has anyone taken a look at the chat threads lately? Or the Fan-Art section?

I find it very hard to display and appreciate art there. Or take those two threads made by those supposed '6' and '4' year olds seriously.

Well the only other solution that can solve this problem is having a moderator in every room monitoring the chat. But we all know that is a utopia and unfortunately will never become reality.
