ears should be larger (looks like a bear imo)

Thanks for the advice. I've never drawn a mouse before. Now that I look at it, it does have the appearance of a bear.

I don't think you've noticed but your avatar has relatively small ears.
Mice can have small ears too, but a majority of people choose to make them large.

Even so, the placement of the ears on the top of the head in Xstewx's drawing is anatomically incorrect, thus making it look like a bear. Yes, mice can have small ears, but plenty of things factor in if you want to successfully pull off little ears, such as placement and the amount of pink in ratio to the amount of fur around the ears. While it is more popular for the ears to be drawn larger, of course they can be drawn smaller. When looking at the drawing, all I can see is that the proportions are a little bit off (eyes are too big and a little too far up), and yes, the ears could be fixed and moved closer to the sides of the face instead of directly on top of the head. So while mice can be drawn with small ears (such as in Firebluestar's avatar, as you pointed out), the placement is a huge factor, as well as what I've stated before. Instead of pointing out that the ears are small, perhaps it would help the artist if you told them why the ears are still a little off.

Any major critiques? I don't see anything wrong with this image, so I can't really pinpoint things to improve on. (Disregarding the hand, which I just plain rushed for some reason.)

@wingedmousie

I think you should work on drawing a more mouse-ish anatomy, with smaller front legs and bigger back legs, for example. I also suggest making the ears smaller, or at least more round. Andd i think your drawing is rather skinny for a mouse tbh.

Biggest problem I see with the wings is where you've put the bend. Remember that the bend of a wing is like the bend of a wrist, with the feathers being fingers.

edit: also here's a re-draw of the body, I hope it helps

http://i.imgur.com/8TnULTI.png

Most important bit of advice: use references. I hadn't a clue how to draw wolf-like creatures, but pulling up a few images helped immensely.

The drawing is already far done to be editted, but I’d like tips for when I draw next time

I’d mostly like help with the paws in general, I tried to make it so the front paws, right where the joint should be folds inwards, like as though it were tucked in-- I failed, and I’d like tips for when I try the same thing some other time

If there are any anatomical mistakes, correct them and tell me how theyre wrong as well, please!

*Dont be too harsh, harsh is OK, I know it’s expected and I know it’s most likely to help me more, but I’m quite temperamental...

Ima go with the flower pin 1st~
It looks like a rose pin to me, so (since because i cant draw them myself lol), I would look up at the internet for a tutorial.
As your artwork seems simple and neat, i went to look around and came across this:
http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/a0/e8/10/a0e810e535386700d8f7f5c191b0e3a0.jpg
you can use the technique and later trace the outline of it i guess. its pretty sweet.

Quite afew things you can make it better. In terms of anatomy there isn't too much problem:
-Her right knee can we placed alittle higher. If we draw a rough body part of it, her knee isis slightly too low
Also her right arm lower bone (aka humerus) is too long.

One small nitpick from me is that the head of the axe is too short imo. Also is abit odd why the blunt end is facing us as i thought at first that she is actually planning to cut something and not 'already cut'.

One thing i have to admire is the skeleton figure on the dress. I see tons of hard work placed on it. however i feel that you might have traced it without knowing something:
You knew that you were drawing something chibi but you took a normal human skeleton figure. Meaning the skeleton on the dress has the anatomy wrong from the chibi's anatomy.
What you might have done could be squeezing the skeleton vertically, or you can study the skeleton a bit more before making your own skeleton.

Last suggestion to give is that the motion lines does not engage to each other a lot. It loses the eye focus on which to look at, either the axe or the character.

But for now i would just redline it 1st :o. Honestly it is really a sweet picture, looks neat and simple (even for a sketch), something like i always wanted to do >n<"

WHOA thank you so much! this helped lots, I will definitely use that little rose method! also, I never even noticed that the axe was facing the wrong way
and I actually traced the torso bones and pelvis b/c I definitely CANNOT draw bones, haha but yeah I'll fix that

and I appreciate getting those compliments from you omg

I'm not really the best at giving critiques but yeah

I did this quick so I hope the anatomy is correct ;-;

First, I'd like to say how you've improved :O

The neck should be a bit longer and thicker. Try adding bulk to the neck to make it look better. The lower rear leg looks kind of long, so I fixed that. I suggest that you could make the toes on the paw should be a bit taller and straight. I also saw that the ears should be shorter and and bit more round. I also suggest facing the ears to the side and not making them face down on the back. The back thighs are too big and look too close to the front legs, and I think the body should be a bit longer and a bit more thin in the back since wolves don't have long spines.

(the wolf doesn't look tucked in to me but if you want it to look tucked in then oops)

I advise you to use references while you draw. I not really the best at the wolf anatomy but I hope the redline helped ;-;

i know this is a sketch but you can critique it as some sort of lineart if you want, since i've noticed sketches are kinda unwanted here.
psst it's supposed to be sneaking, that's why the position is so crouched

Thanks! I did use a reference, this [Which I reaaally shouldve added to my message], I’ll try to work on the legs more, I do need improving on that. Just a quick question, are the front paws ok, or are they off? It just feels as though I did it wrong, the tucking them inwards. Thanks though, I’ll practice a bit on this ^^’
