Sallydhc a dit : :0 Since this scene takes place at night, remember that your only light source is from the moon and stars (maybe the tail piece too?). The brighter the light, the darker the shadows. If you upped the contrast, I feel it would make a difference. Right now the drawing is mostly highlights and midtones with no dark shadows there would be at night. If you intended to make the nebulas brighter (which you don't have to) It would affect the lighting on the mouse and would tint it pink. Keep the lighting consistent. There isn't any shadow casted from the mouse and you missed some parts on the head. ((but i really love the way u drew the moon)) |

Could I get critique only on the mouse on the left? The anatomy is really wonky, but I’m not sure how to fix it. Redline is also really helpful ! Thanks |

Here is probably one of my best ones so far. Here are things I already know: 1. My lineart is horrid because I use a mouse, not a tablet. 2. I can't draw hands. 3. Feet are more difficult for me, dunno why. Other than those 3 things, go hard. |

@broncosfan yo. i'll head over these points -- b/c i suck and the rest might just be stylization ① hands haaaaaands. everyone's favourite part. not. well, i kinda did fuck up the left one but the hand has joints right ? so imagine those joints bending ~ fingers will never be straight when you lean on them ( try yourself ! ) from what i can remember from the advice i got on this once, look at people's hands when they hold swords ( ? ) as for the right one, i just twisted it in that way and i can promise you it's not comfortable as the hand will fall like i drew in the picture automatically. ② eyepatch ! so seeing as this is a mouse face but that doesn't really matter the eyepatch shouldn't be visible on the other side of the face. because like, imagine the eye under that. shudders. also the wires it is bound to can not be tied loosely as they are in the original picture because then the eyepatch will come off ~ since it's a medical one i picture it having rubber bands, so there's that. ③ jawline the jawline is missing which is kinda odd because everything that can chew has a lower jaw. some might be less visible than others but it also makes a point in the eyepatch as it passes your jaw bone and curves the way it did in the redline ~ ④ chain of course chains can move but seeing as they're made from metal and usually heavy, a gust of wind won't whip them up like ribbons ( i'll come to them in point 6 ). so, unless the tail was moving and rocking the chain back and forth it should hang strraight down ~ also all sorts of chains exist, but the way you drew it theoretically wouldn't stay in place and land into the position as show in the redline. i suggest looking up pictures of real chains ~ ⑤ armpits gah. anatomy. for this i suggest looking at muscle anatomy as the chest is connected to the arm to some extent ( goes for both genders ) which is why armpits exist ( ? haha i suck ) but basically there's gotta be another bit of flesh behind the arm after you draw it, or draw the torso first and add arms later idk oh and don't forget the bones on our back since they stick out a bit as well ~ ( am i making any sense rn anyway ) ⑥ ribbons heeellll yeahhhhh i love ribbons. flowy ribbons are quite easy to draw as i just reccomend figuring out which one is top and bottom side, and make them interwine and twist. for this i also suggest grab a piece of fabric ( or even paper ) and twist it around to see what happens ~ reference pictures hooray |

okay im still awful as ever with critiques, but i'll try my best so I'll start with the wings the individual feathers that you have covering the entire wing can be made a lot simpler, easier, and clean. i've drawn a few to demonstrate what i mean. (also, if you look at a bird's wing, it is mainly sectioned off into two pieces like what i have above) this mouse kinda lacks legs. it just... ends. the feet are shaped in a way that doesn;t make much sense to me. it may help to give them more of a heel and more defined toes the little accessory on the tail is the last thing i'd like to point out. the way it is hanging off of her tail isn't very realistic. the string looks very loose. making the gap between the string more of a slit would create a more taught appearance. hope i helped at least a little bit! <3 |

critique for Darkdayboom (my first critique, apologies for any errors): NOTE: Some of these are based off of real life animal looks and anatomy. If you want a more "cartoonish" look, feel free to ignore some of the anatomy stuff. 1. Head fur:So most furry creatures (for instance, a cat) have fur all over their faces. If viewed at an angle, the fur should be visible, and not exactly "flat". And the hair makes the drawing seem sort of "confusing" in a way (the eye color and lines go through one bunch of hair but doesnt go through the other). Otherwise, the hair is pretty much fine. I can't really give you many tips on head fluff since you will develop your own hair drawing style. 2. Ears: Let's say your creature is like a feline (it seems like it, if not then sorry.). Typically feline ears are upwards, and not really tilted forward. I don't know if felines can tilt their ears forward, lol. Also, remember that animal ears are usually not on the face, but on the side of the head (funny thing is i didnt even do that in the drawing ._. i'm also getting used to that, so dont worry). 3. The mouth: Basically it was just flipped, so i fixed it for you. The short, curved side should always be closest to the side the character is facing(if they are grinning or talking). 4. Eyes/Face:The eyes seem a little too big in my opinion, but that may just be your style. Otherwise, its pretty good! 5. The Space-y mist stuff: In my opinion, the ends should be sharper. 6. if its a cat-feline thing, chest fur shouldn't really stick out. 7. in my opinion, the legs on your drawing are too straight, animals have joints you know! 8. i think hind legs should look somewhat similar to what i drew. you can modify it though. and the tail is not on a side of an animal, its in between. yet it's not in the butt either, so maybe it should be a little higher? finally, make some fur where the tail starts and ends (where the hind leg starts) to separate the tail and the side of the body. 9. felines have scruffs, so maybe you should draw that instead of a neck? but you dont have to if it's your style. i hope you stick with your style, its really nice, just needs little improvements! sorry its not super detailed, i was tired and rushing. @Griffincraft It actually looks pretty good to start with! I would just recommend that you: • slacken the right arm a bit and making it less stiff and sharply bent. It also looks like the arm is just shoulder and forearm-- give it some upper arm! • shorten the arms. Even in quadruped mice (ones that stand four-legged rather than two) the arms are pretty short! • slacken the left shoulder. I think in this position the mouse is bearing most of its weight on the hind legs, so the shoulder wouldn't be jutting out so much. • make sure that the tail comes from the center of the back, a little lower down. • tuck the left foot beneath the leg, like how it appears in the right foot. Some stylistic nitpicks (just my opinion!): • I would make the nose a bit bigger and rounder to make it more mouse-like. • Slim the neck a bit to make the mouse flow a bit better. (Unless it's long fur making the neck appear thick? In which case long fur should be present on the rest of the mouse!) • Add some of those curved lines to the inside of the ear to give it some depth. The shape of those lines is up to you! Lots of people have different ideas of what the inside of a mouse's ear looks like. (Of course, there is a "correct" way, but how you stylize that is what makes it unique!) • Whiskers!!! I understand this particular drawing is probably not 100% finished, but at some stage I would love to see some whiskers. It makes any mouse style look 50% more like a mouse, somehow. • Hands! I prefer the look of hands on a mouse over paws, but there are some other artists have a good mix of the two going on that you can look at. I think you're improving a lot! In general I'd advise you relax the joints and make sure the lines flow well. |

pyrubble a dit : Alright! I’ll use your tips (: Yeah, it isnt finished-- it’s my first time trying to draw a pose like this, so it was pretty difficult. Hopefully I dont mess up the page when I try to fix it with your suggestions, though ;w; Thanks so much! Once I finish I’ll post another image, to see if I missed anything. Again, thanks :> Edit: Oh! One other thing I forgot to mention-- her head angle is supposed to be a 3/4 sideview, not profile view, if that changes anything! Dernière modification le 1443045540000 |

@Pyrubble I tried to go about fixing it in the way you indicated me to, although I’m not sure if I went the right way about it. I tried to slim the neck as well as make more hand-ish paws. Is it ok? The reason I didnt change the nose much is because the nose’s corner usually lines up with the edge of the eye, and if I made it larger it wouldnt line up correctly ;w; Also, the design on the left of the screen is more or less what I was going for before I added the hair, a 3/4 sideview. I’m not sure if that changes anything, but I desided to add that information in anyways just in case ;w; Dernière modification le 1443051180000 |

I think I finally found my style, but I need some critique. This is my first piece with absolutely ZERO lines. I know the mouse is a tad bit skinny and I'm still working on backgrounds. Mostly worried about the body anatomy and stuff. |

Sorry my editing skills are horrible. Would be so much better with a tablet. Anyway, here's what I came up with (figured I better not get into too much detail, as I am learning still too.) 1. Awkward Ears: Ears are something that you learn over time. For that particular pose and style, the left ear seemed fine. However, ears don't generally bend backwards or in a 180 degree angle, so I fixed it a bit for you (in editing) and gave you a couple tips. If the ears are forward and the pose is more of a side shot, the ear behind doesn't necessarily need to show inward, if that makes sense. You can draw it and it can just show the color of the fur. You'll see it in the edit. Now, if the drawing is a front face shot, you would want both ears showing inward, but don't make it too awkward. 2. If you are drawing in the style of Chibi, the eyes are supposed to be big and cute. However, the eye takes up too much face space. Make the snouts a little longer (or the face bigger) to fit the eyes. Will look more proportioned that way. 3. Legs. You have no idea how much I struggle with legs. I have come up with a technique that looks difficult, but rather simple The way you drew the legs makes the "mouse" look like a plushie (or teddy bear.) I helped you out with how the legs bend and stuff (since legs have joints. P.S. Don't mind the feet, everyone does them differently. I think with every drawing I have done, feet have been different in each one. Lol. Good luck! I hope to see more art from you. You've got a great start and looking really cute. <3 |
