Friends list -> click the X next to their name. It won't delete them from your friends.

As of right now you can't 'take' any old accounts no matter what their stats are. Since we don't know whether or not that will be a feature of the name change update, no one knows what requirements there would theoretically be for a name to be made available. We'll just have to wait and see.

You can however take an old tribe name if the tribe has 0 members.

Like a tribe forum which is private, but a private one you can invite people instead.

You can make a tribe subforum and give posting permissions to non-member players. This isn't technically private as any forum member can post, but if the subforum is in an empty tribe then it's pretty unlikely for uninvited people to stumble across it. If you want privacy the next best option is a group conversation.

Private group messaging can kind of work like that. Just go to your inbox, press the "New discussion" button, and type all the names you want to invite. Though you're generally creating threads and not a subforum.
