Just a random thought, but considering somethings seem to be animation based like how jumping can sometimes give you a little boost or tapping the key either left or right on none-rotated ice grounds would also sometimes give you a boost, doesn't it seem weird how these things were only effected after the removal of some animations?

This is honestly a shot in the dark and I honestly don't believe myself it has anything to do with the animations just because the way the sprite works in my mind right now is to only indicate where your mouse is and to give you a good idea of the hit box(s). Correct me if I'm wrong, I honestly have no clue.

It's just a bit strange how removing animations ended up effecting the games physics overall, of course that is if that was the only thing really removed and/or changed. Just my thoughts.

Why not just restore it to the way it was?

Lazaar a dit :
Why not just restore it to the way it was?

Best idea. It seems pretty messed up now.

When I logged on today, I found that movements and animations look terribly choppy, and when walljumping, it can be hard to see at which moment I hit the wall. (It was somewhat okay-ish yesterday.)

If you want to reduce lag, you could add options to disable backgrounds and decorations, for example. I, for one, usually have no lag when playing in racing where the maps are un-decorated, but a fair amount of lag in normal/vanilla rooms.

But changing the game's inner workings after 3 years is a bad idea.

Wow, i am impressed how you can screw up this much, like seriously..okay sure faults happen and stuff but you should be able to reset something once you've updated whatever.

"Tig did an other client patch this morning to fix this. Could you test it and tell us if everyone works as it used to ?"

"Tigrounette is going to do several client patch in order to fix it. Can you reload Transformice once in a while and tell us when it seems back to what it was?"

Also best statements, you want us to test out if everything "seems" to be back to what it was? wow what? I want it back as it was and not only make it "seem as it was". And it should be easy enough to reset this thanks. Also you should have your testers for your updates before you release them officially just suggesting..expected something more of a now more or less professional company.

So my question is, every self-respecting programmer backs his stuff up before doing something new. Why didn't Tig just back this up before messing with the game and then place the backup back? I'm not even a programmer but when I dick around with stuff I double check to make sure I have a backup if it goes awry.
I swear I've said this like two, three times before about him backing stuff up.

They should create a new team, like the hacking bridage except instead of finding hacks, they test the updates as normal players on a different server before it releases for everyone.

TFM has a test server however? I don't see how that will help much.

I think it would help to avoid them accidentally removing important parts of the game without noticing.

Seems like mice became heavier. It takes longer to walk up on a slope of ice.

But changing the game's inner workings after 3 years is a bad idea.

These are 2 important points right here. This game has been around for more than 3 years now, and everything we play is based off of physics that we know well and are generally established. Small things like these may not be noticeable to a great deal of players who have a simple grasp of the fundamentals but this is much more breaking to any long time players or those who use every trick in the book to complete bootcamps or even steal a first.

While I know many people complain about recent updates such as new usernames and the community platform, this is *truly* the one thing that should never change: the feel of the game. It seems like the problem is half-fixed but like many others, we yearn for these simple things back.

Even though a lot of people are mad about the consequences of the update I also hear a lot of other people saying how great it is to have their lag reduced and being able to play more comfortably. I know it's taking a while to get it right, but I'd rather if they kept on trying to fix it until they get it right instead of just reseting it to how it was; bootcampers will complain but people people with crappy computers will appreciate that.

Swirlfire a dit :

Wallpushing is mainly used by bootcampers in bootcamp maps to go from one wall to the other wall as long jumping my not suffice (Corner jumping may also not suffice depending on what surface it is and where the wall is located).
You just basically push from one wall by wall jumping very quickly off that wall to get to the other wall. It's hard to explain and it's hard to master ;P

There isn't much lag for me anymore but for some reason now my frame rate drops periodicly while I play the game. This is an issue I didn't have before the update and it is kind of frustrating when you're trying to play something like Bouboum or Transformice itself.

I'm not sure if it's on my end, but it's really annoying.
