As Hixed explained it's the mistake of giving items that you can buy directly at the start.

Instead of a rare badge or item that you can't obtain.

Me too! :) I think maybe they'll actually release the fur if not then have some really cool badges, maybe some new titles and shop items as well.

If we're gonna have to buy event items then whats the point of the event map? For badges erm nty. It's more better when you have to earn the item rather than badges/titles. people perfer earning items than badges/titles. This carnival event, not seen many people 'farm' because it's just badges and titles. No point then is there?

but anyways according to meli's post in her tumblr, badges would be the new thing now.
And it is good as well. Don't you realise the number of event items is getting so much, the newer players are not able to get all of them (especially the new ones) if we continue with shop items every year, by that time no ew players is h=able to get the new items at all.
Badges, though looking stupid at its 1st sight, would be handy. Each year will be a different badge, you gotta earn them or they might not really come back (except for some?)

I personally like badges more than items, even if it's hard to get the cheese for all the items.

Unlocking items isn't that challenging as collecting badges. After you get the event items, you won't be able to wear more than 2-3 of them because most people already have a defined style (I think Meli pointed this thing on her tumblr). But badges are always there AND everyone can see them, unlike the event items. Now everyone's free to buy the items they like, without spending hours getting some items they'll never wear.

I was pretty upset about the change too at first, but then I realised that the admins have to get more money in order to release more updates.

I don't like the badges. I see no reason to attempt to collect them. I was more motivated when it was items, so I could make my mouse look special.

Easter is coming and Im still waiting for name change D:

I think 2014 should be like this:

Every mouse is on a journey to collect the Easter candy, but watch out for the bunnies; they'll turn you to bubbles when your health is gone! (like Halloween 2013 except candies and bunnies)

You start off with 10 hearts. If you manage to get to the hole, you'll get all of your candy you collected! Be careful, though, you'll recieve half the candies you got when you die. You can steal other mice's candy with the meep skill, but you can only use it one time in all maps. Be wise!

The first map is Easter Forest, where all of the bunnies are attracted to this map! You'll have to be careful, you might land in a trap!

The second map is Candy Land, where all of Transformice's best candy is made for mice, but bunnies are attracted to candy!

The third map is a slot machine map where you can win items, and maybe even more candy and cheese!

You can whack bunnies with a wand to make them disappear at a certain amount of times hit!

One mouse is randomly chosen as the leader bunny to guide all the bunnies to the mice to stop them!

Titles:
<Easter Basket> = Complete any map 2 times!
<I Heart Candy> = Collect 100 candy!
<BunnyMania> = Become the Leader Bunny 5 times!
<Hey! Bunnies!> = Die from any kind of bunny 10 times!
<Candy *-*> = Collect 200 candy!
<Candy Collector> = Collect 500 candy!
<Bunnynapped!> = Die from any kind of bunny 20 times!
<Candy, I Choose You!> = Collect 1000 candy!
<Bunnyship> = Become the Leader Bunny 10 times!

Items:
Easter Basket/Mouth Item/From completing the map at least once
Eggy Necklace/Neck Item/From dying from any kind of bunny at least once
Egged Jewelry/Tail Item/From becoming the leader bunny at least once
Bunny Glasses/Eye Item/From collecting 50 candy

Sounds great! I would like to try that out as well...but this reminds me of the halloween event. =u=;
But..we already have the "candy *-*' title. It is just the "Bonbon *-*" title.
Also I can't wait for the next easter event! YEY! MY SECOND EASTER EVENT! ;u;

Items are surely a bigger reward for many players than badges or titles. I understand the admins' argument for selling them instead of giving them away for free. Also, the number of items per event has really grown too big. However, it seems that not being able to win items will make many players lose interest in the events.

How about a compromise? Let players get the new items in the event, and put the old ones up for sale for players who are new or missed them in previous events.

(Side note: a "don't display avatars and badges on profiles" option would be nice. If someone has several badges and a forum avatar, it can take a fairly long time to load their profile.)
