I consider "quite a while" as a year or two.

If you were to play in normal/vanilla rooms you'd get 30 cheese per hour if you made it in the hole every round, but since sometimes the shaman fails to finish saving the mice by the end of the round it'd be decreased. However sometimes the shaman finishes early so maybe still 30 cheese per hour. The most effective way to get cheese is to farm with a friend or two in vanilla, preferably one friend. This gets you cheese every 30 seconds maybe if cannons are used a lot and skills are available for use, sometimes even less so like 120 cheese every hour if my math isn't wrong (I have a tendency to mess up on simple math). If you play for like 34 hours you could get the accessory no problem. Split it even, 2 hours per day it's 17 days, 2 hours per weekday and maybe 3 or 4 on weekends it'd take 12 - 14 days maybe (rough estimate). But no matter how you decide to approach this item you could and should get it within 4 weeks if you're motivated.

It's called "Lenneth's Helmet", and /No Support. They would be making all the badges for every color then, considering some of the colors are only 999 cheese off. Events for badges is way different since you can't get the badges from collecting cheese, it's only that year or time that badge could be earned.

It seems like a special item to me, since it isn't just 4000, instead plus one more cheese, being 4001.
There would be no harm done in making a badge for it, it will also most likely NOT lead to many more badges for items.
