I hate this update because I care about my profile and now I can't bootcamp because I try to get as many firsts as I can without statpadding and I wanted 20k bootcamps now I can't get it cuz if I play my fav game on tfm it'll fuck everything up.

Lilyblol a dit :
I don't want gathered cheese on my profile from bootcamping.

I already said this, but if it really was your favorite game on TFM you wouldn't be complaining. You care more about your profile than bootcamp. Your way of thinking is basically what I undestand of a statpadder.

I'm not saying you guys don't have the right to complain or to be upset about this update, all I'm saying is that the people who complain are most likely statpadders, people who care more about their profile than the game itself, and most important; none of them are real bootcamp lovers.

mutedblue a dit :
and still care about playing well in normal mode(which isn't statpadding)

They don't just "care about playing well", they care about their stats and ratios, they are statpadders. I also care about playing well (sometimes) and I don't aim for perfect ratios while doing so. Those ratios aren't even shown in-game (not even the rounds), the only real reason why people care about them is the CFM ranking.

I'm honestly slightly against this, just because i used to hang out in bootcamp with my friends, often being afk, But the round count it's not a biggie for me, never cared about ratios, and stats.
Of course this coould have been implemented better, as i suggested with a maps completed stat, i'm still waiting for this, and i hope it will be implemented sooner or later.

I don't really mind this update, since my stats have already been completely ruined with my days in Survivor but from the perspective of other people whose stats aren't ruined (yet), I'm completely against it. I just can't comprehend the idea of why one would have rounds/cheese counted in mini-games that are separate to the actual gameplay of Transformice. People often like the idea of breaking away from the pressure of improving both quantity and ratio wise their stats and just train/have a bit of fun in bootcamp, as well as other mini-games.

I'm one of the few who feel they ruined Survivor with the addition of cheese earning back in 2012, but bootcamp just seems an even worse idea. Let's hope this doesn't become a thing.

You have some valid points.

I agree that every minigame should have its own rounds stat.

As you said, Survivor already did the same thing back then and you don't see many people complaining now. I could even say that racing ruins our stats since we don't get saves and the other stats still count. You don't see people complain about that because they are used to the way things are. What if cheese and rounds counted in bootcamp from the early days of the minigame?

It's important to note that the "Stats" card in Trello is still "in progress". I have high hopes that this recent update is related to that. If survivor and racing are there with their own stats, why not bootcamp?

This really just seems like we have different interpretations of the word. Historically on TFM, "statpadder" has meant people who actually don't care about their round ratios. These are the people that die when they don't get first to make their in-game profile look better. Example. If you're referring to people who pay attention to their ratios, you're speaking to them. And I do love bootcamp. So I continue playing it on guests or alts, to not add rounds. Which is what many people have done for other minigames like racing and survivor.

I feel I should mention that few people are against shop cheese and shaman experience being added. Profile cheese and rounds change the game balance. If these new stats were in a separate bootcamp category like you suggest, that would probably be fine too.

Do you not know what "statpadder" means? I care about my RATIOS, not JUST how my profile looks. There's a difference. This is a statpadder. This is not.

I probably would've stopped playing it then like I stopped farming events in private rooms.

I still fail to see the difference between a statpadder and a better statpadder who knows how the CFM ranking works. They still care about stats, their profile and above all their CFM ranking.

My whole point here was that this update didn't ruin bootcamp, it didn't mess with the minigame and it doesn't really affect bootcampers. It only affects statpadders (or whatever you call them), it only stops people who care about CFM ranking from playing a minigame with their alt. The minigame itself is fine. I don't know many people from the international or EN communities but you can ask any serious bootcamp player/speedrunner, the ones that only play bootcamp for the most part, if this update ruined their game. It didn't

It didn't ruin TFM for the other people either. If you feel like playing bootcamp you can use an alt (you're already doing that probably).

Perhaps they could ask the players if they want cheese, stats and exp in bootcamp, through an option in the TFM settings. Are you a bootcamp player who wants extra stuff? Here you go. Or are you a mouse who plays for stats/ranking? Fine, no cheese for you.

I think your opinion on the matter is highly biased and close-minded. There's a clear difference between wanting to show off with stats that just look good and caring about your ratios. You don't have to care about your profile or cfm ranking to care about ratios, since having those statistics give one a good indication of how well one is playing, as long as the stats can be trusted. Bootcamp cheese obviously makes all the stats moot.

Statistics are fun in skill-based games. You obviously don't think so, but there are a lot of people who do. I'd probably be heavily against this change too if my profile was anywhere close to truthful, but it's not so I don't care personally. I do know that I won't be bootcamping with any of the alts that still have correct stats though.

a dit :

Bootcampers? Since when bootcampers became a different race from other players? Can people not enjoy both?

a dit :

The vast majority of people who mainly bootcamp are either indifferent or against the change. It's not like they do anything with the cheese anyway. The update brought nothing to people who bootcamp a lot, it only encouraged casual farming for those who want really fast cheese and gave a very slight incentive for people who do not bootcamp to try it.

In a nutshell, people who don't bootcamp a lot and can't complete maps consistently are getting so little cheese that it makes no difference and people who bootcamp a lot and can complete maps consistently don't care or they farm to get shop items / raise cfm rankings quickly. There's a very minor portion of players in the middle who complete maps just enough to make the cheese feel somewhat rewarding. I really don't see how the positives offset the negatives in this case.

Please grow a brain, a statpadder according to tfm's 'dictionary' is "someone who refuses to go in the hole if they don't get first". I don't do that. I go in regardless. If you saw my examples, the first link he has a ton of rounds which made his ratios look terrible, while the 2nd example he has nice average ratios for someone who cares about their profile. A statpadder only cares about the outer appearance of their profile which is in-game profile, while a person who cares about their stats will make sure their ratios are top-notch. It ruined bootcamp for a lot of people. I don't want to just "play bootcamp on an alt", I want to get bootcamps on my own profile. But now I can't do that because I care about my profile and I've worked hard for 4 years to get the ratios to where they are now. Like Prr said, your opinion is very close-minded. I keep saying this repeatedly but I'll say it again. YOU may not care about your stats, but other people do. Why can't you get that through your head?

Hinakagiyama a dit :

It affects bootcampers a ton if they don't JUST bootcamp and also play in normal rooms to simply improve their stats, aka me and a shit ton of other people. It messed with the minigame with that pop up for experience, it messed with keeping normal rooms and bootcamp rooms from being separated, and it messed with people who care about their stats and love bootcamping too. It ruined me getting 20k bootcamps like I hoped I would eventually get, because it simply looks impressive on my profile. I have 12k bootcamps and 27k firsts, which one can only conclude that I play in both normal rooms and bootcamp frequently. I'm not the only one with a profile similar to that.

What even is the point? Because outside of how it "ruins profiles."

It's not "ruining TFM." Some people I'm sure are happy they can get cheese from bootcamp, getting more than one reward for completion of a map. Hinaki's got a good point, the people who are complaining are the ones who want "good looking profiles." Just use an alt if it bugs you so bad.

If you're honestly this mad and care this much about numbers on a profile, then I think you need a different game to play. I sincerely doubt that people really give a damn whether you play in "both normal and bootcamp rooms frequently" and honestly, there's a million things worse on the game that need fixing than appeasing to the cries of a few who are upset their profile doesn't look like they want it to.

You're right, nobody gives a damn whether I play in "both normal and bootcamp rooms frequently", but I'm not the only one that plays "both normal and bootcamp rooms frequently". You just said there's a million things worse on the game that need fixing, so why the fuck would they ruin bootcamp for a lot of people instead of fixing those million things? My god, I don't play bootcamp JUST because I want the bootcamp count on it, I play it because I enjoy it. I enjoyed it BEFORE it made me "cry" because I'm "upset that my profile doesn't look like I want it to". Have you bothered to read any other replies in this thread? The people who've also said the same thing as me? It's not just a "few" of us lol. I enjoy this game and I'm not gonna start another because you and the others don't care about numbers on a profile. You're trying to make me sound pathetic that I care about numbers on a profile, which I'll admit I know I do sound pathetic, but I don't care. This is how I play.
and you're still missing the point you dumb hippo bitch

But... bootcamp isn't ruined? And unless someone can explain to me why they think that, I'm not going understand it outside of a few stat-oriented people complaining because their profiles are "unbalanced."
A few members of the Helpers tested, and it seems that death in bootcamp doesn't even count as a new round; merely only new maps count. So it makes even LESS sense to my why the gnashing of teeth.

Bootcamp is ruined...for people who care about their stats? Can you read? If I wanted to get 20k bootcamps with the 12k I have right now, that means I'd have to get 8k cheese without a single first. I don't want my profile unbalanced like that unlike you who doesn't give a shit. Stop.
