As for how far back we take your past into account, short answer is it really depends. People can change, and we go as far back as seems relevant for each case. Severity of past actions, repeated actions and age when something happened are some things that are considered. And as you said it can be hard to get a good grasp of the person from a written application, so if the application is good it will move to the next stage where we look at ingame behaviour, current behaviour is the most important while still keeping the past in mind where relevant. It’s hard to put this process into words, since each case can be so different. And what I mainly meant by everyone is looked at the same is that while people we know might reach the point of acceptance faster, it doesn’t matter in the end. If you’re good enough, then you’re good enough. If that same person with a lot of friends who got accepted quickly, didn’t have staff friends, they’d still be accepted, it just might take a bit longer until we decide on it. |

Jealy a dit : wtf do you really think id suggest not having applicants names at all? Obviously this can not happen but they can be hidden through Application process with one trusted moderator knowing or being able to access to names and once the application process is over the name will be delivered in order to proceed checking on a players sanction and in-game behaviour. big obviously also having an history with a player doesn't mean that the same moderator should vote on it or give his two cents because I won't act or say the same things in public as I tell to my friends unless im not allowed to be a friend of moderator and be blunt and open and sometimes immature/dumb. Moderators that are befriended with a certain applicant should be disqualified from voting. also for charln, say whatever you want to say but in the end of the day this is a mouse game and not some workplace, what's the definition of immature for you? King a dit : I don't see how hiding the name is beneficial AT ALL. Anyone is capable of writing a decent application if they get enough help or invest enough time and effort into it. It'll be the same thing once the names are revealed. On top of that, why would we prevent any staff from giving honest input on experiences with a player? Having a history with applicants is extremely helpful in the process. We have had many circumstances where an applicant puts on a false personality or takes on a whole different character during the entirety of the application process, but that facade is outed because someone truly knows how they act/what they're saying in private. We are also quite responsible during voting as well. We give input on applicants, but we also very much refrain from voting on friends to avoid that bias. We've also had experiences in the past where someone thought they were outsmarting staff by creating a new account and pretending to be an entirely different person to see if it would help them get a staff position, but that's why we thoroughly look into everything... It is more than just an app!! Dernière modification le 1578368580000 |

King a dit : My personal definition of immature doesn't matter all too much in the hiring process of new mods, its what the entirety of the EN team thinks of as immature that'll count. If you have any other questions specifically for me, please PM me instead of clustering this thread with non-feedback (as per the thread rules). |

I would like to thank all of the staff for always being polite and patient during various situations. Sometimes it’s probably difficult! Keep up the good work and I hope to see this continue in the future! <3 |

Thank you so much to all the staff members to listen to the community. I was really proud when I saw a many staff members leaving the team. I'm glad that others players will have the chance to able to apply for the moderation team now. Good job<3 |

Oh damn I will miss Secretive#0095, Pyjin#0095 and Mousey#0095, they were ones of the best modos, although the inactivity. But thank you all the EN Staff, for listening and fulfiling our, the community's suggestions! Great job. In addition, I wish good luck for all the modos who have stepped down! Edit: Letting you be aware for a fail. You removed Mcsplash#0010 (the past, alt) to be 0095 and hired Mcsplash#0000 to be 0010. It's all good but.. If Mcsplash decided to leave the staff, what will happen with the current 0010. It will make a situation that there will be 2 accounts named-tagged Mcsplash#0095. [Sentinel edit] One of the accounts would lose the #0095 tag and it would likely be replaced with a randomized one. The #0095 only exists to protect the name, it would have no function seen as the name is already protected by the other #0095 account. Please post any other questions regarding Staff in the Staff FAQ. Thank you! - Charlen #0010 Dernière modification le 1578595740000 |

Rorien a dit : With the recent leaving, I think it's important to note again that there have never been a limited number of spots in staff teams. There being x number of mods doesn't affect how often people are hired, in fact it happens about every 6 months no matter how many mods there are - actually, we're about due for applications soon! In big in-game communities like EN, the search for new staff is pretty much constant. When new staff are hired, they hire as many as are suitable because it's always nice to have more support with all the reports and whispers. However, having fewer inactive accounts is better for security purposes and means people may get faster replies via forum message. Dernière modification le 1578602700000 |

Katburger a dit : Okay, I apologise in advance if my message is quite rude. I was thanking the staff team from listening to the community suggestions on here. If there was an application, open at this moment. Everyone would've seen it by now and applied. By all means, the applications have been open since last year (2019) if I remember correctly. I'm certain that staff members can look through the previous applications and see if there is a candidate that can fit the job. After all, it all about responsibility, mature behaviour and active on the game... I think it's unnecessary to keep launching the applications when the staff can look at the previous applications as I said. If you think about it this way. It's dangerous if a staff account is inactive. What if those current "inactive" accounts were compromised and nobody didn't notice? Either way, I understand why some inactive moderators had a purpose to do something else for weeks/months other than logging into the game. I want to say that, there was many EN mods active on discord and still is. So, players can contact any of them from using the official tfm discord server or contacting them on the forums. Instead of constantly waiting for an EN moderator to come online in-game. Plus, more active mods in-game will definitely solve many players problems. Half of the time those players don't want to use anything else besides being in the game and able to communicate with an EN moderator which is understandable. |

Not rude at all, glad we're able to discuss and clarify things ^^' And it does seem like we're in agreement here. Hopefully we're making the process more transparent by explaining how it works. Generally we hire everyone who is suitable from a round of applications, so if they weren't accepted back then, the reason is probably no different now. I understand it might feel frustrating to fill out the same form, but it's a chance to double check your responses and review your own behavior to see how you've changed since last round. As many have suggested, giving feedback to everyone who wasn't hired would be really helpful, so hopefully that happens this coming round. |

Katburger a dit : It's quite annoying to constantly fill out the exact same form when you have been declined multiple times. (Definitely referring to myself) Most likely, when the staffs complete the applications, they put a notice message on the announcement and updates thread to let everyone know they have finished, selected a few people and letting the community know the players that were accepted will receive a message through the forums. However, the players that were declined want some kind of feedback to improve better for the next application when it comes out. I can thoroughly see why some players won't receive a message on a feedback without requesting one. When it won't be straightforward to contact 100-200 players and deliver them feedback when it can clearly be done by contacting a moderator yourself. A few years back when I applied, I didn't receive any feedback from my application form when I specific asked a moderator in-game to give me a feedback on how to improved so next time I would be ready to apply again with much better improvement. Unfortunately, that didn't happen. I do appreciate that fact that the staff members are trying their best to go through the applications. |

I'd suggest they take some time to learn the internal mechanics of the game and better identify hacks from game issues. I have a friend who was banned for cheating who absolutely does not cheat. I tried asking the mods but one never responded and the other I have tried messaging several times and never once have they had their whispers enabled. |

Redditguy a dit : I’ve seen people tell me this or similar as well on Discord. There have been people saying they’ll get banned in the Transformice server and they’ll try to message mods and to no avail. I don’t know the reliability of these accounts, however, I’ve seen people especially on the Transformice Discord server be banned without any warnings beforehand and without a way to defend themselves due to having whispers and Discord DMs from them disabled. From what I’ve read, there is a communication problem with the moderating team and I do feel that communication is important when you are moderating an entire community. Anyway, I do admire that the moderating team has opened this topic because I feel it was long needed. It’s good to see this group be open with the community and accept their critiques and suggestions. I hope that topics similar to this one will be opened in other Transformice communities. |

If a player wants to appeal a ban, we ask that they contact a staff member on the forums to verify that its actually their account. We will not give information to a friend (or someone they may know) asking about further information in behalf of the person banned. This is specified in the Staff FAQ and #rules channel in the public Discord server. We prefer the forums because we can't truly know if the person in contact on Discord is the actual owner of the account in question, especially if the Discord user happens to be unverified. We take account security very seriously, because the private information attached to the persons account is what will be used if they are ever in a situation where they may need help regaining access to their account via the contact form. |

While a lot complained on inactivity of Moderators in-game, there is a significant amount of inactives in the sentinel team. There are about 3-5 sentinels that are active. 3-5 and I'm exaggerating as although some has recent posts they are not sufficient to be determined active imo, posting once in a month is not active. EN forums starts to look like a mess! Also shoutout to the Bot, Batt_mellamy for being the most dedicated person ive ever seen! |

Back in my time I'v made a h&ll of a good job as a mod, crew and sentinel, but I got fired after almost 3 long years for the most silly reason: The newest BR admin (at that time) had told me I couldnt be friends with the 'recently fired admin'. I told her my personal relationships weren't rly her business. So she fired me 'for talking to her like that' and THATS IT! No mod in my team could say anything about the matter. She was a jealous angry woman. ^^ You players must know smth about moderation: MODS are rarely recognized by their hard work. MODS dont get paid (not even with cheese!). There is no way to help improve the community if there are no changes in the way the admins handle things themselves. There have never been a limited number of mods in the mod team, so it doesnt rly matter if there are lots of active or inactive mods. What matters is that the job is too stressfull and too sad for a person over 18 years old to handle for a rly long time! Mods go to college. Mods get real jobs. And once they are home, they wanna destress. AND THATS WHY THEY ARE NEVER ON. TFM moderation job is to fight over silly hacks with a pretty bad report system, knowing that nothing will ever change unless TFM changes its main platform. "Oh Jess, so why did u handle the job for almost 3 years?" Well, back there I had no job, I was unhappy in real life and TFM was the unique place I could scape and feel loved for some of the kids I used to take care of. The crew team used to make me feel important, the spiritual team used to treat me with respect. I used to feel like a super hero in the forums with all those events!!! And like me, I bet some of the current mods feel too. So about that 'sentimental thing' you guys were talking about: Here is how you solve it: First: Stop showing off at your real work and tell me if your real boss were sentimental with you too of if you got fired. Second: Start FIREING 1 month inactive mods on TFM aswell and I garantee at least 10 of them will show up twince a week to mantain their mod position, cause it makes them feel important too and they cant lose it like I couldnt. ALSO THIRD: Offer these hard work mods some kind of payment and I'm sure they will bother showing a little bit more them twince a week, cause they deserve to get paid!!! The community has no idea what it rly is to deal with moderation, team pressure and admins strange rules. You can mod the game 6 days a week. But if you decide to play on the seventh day, BE SURE EVERYBODY IS GONNA TELL YOU, YOU ARE NOT DOING ENOUGH. And about the forums: Lets face it! Most of kids here dont bother reading a post before using the forums. Kids here never report posts when necessary. They create another thread to complain that the forum is a mess. Am I wrong? Check it by yourself: 5 years ago I used to tell ppl to use the report system, and here is the sentinel above me Dracoleaf doing the same thing. Poor guy. Hope you get the idea now. Peace out. |

I could not agree more, the ban and report system need an update. Also, the hacks? They are more ancient than the pyramids at this point, is there really no way to patch the game up to at least make the teleport hacks and the speedy wall jump on chocolate hack stop working? This would really reduce the load on mods, in my opinion. And currently the players are defenseless against abusive behavior in game, yes I talk about trolls, favoers, stat padders, we all know they are the most toxic part of the community, and yet, nobody can touch them, just because. If we thing there are problems in the moderation of the game, the answer is that these problems derive from the top, from the administration of the game, they take the big decisions...
