What's the point of this new rule? What is so inappropriate about having/supporting political views or using politicians as a profile picture, especially when you address this rule in an international way? Is it really necessary to be this restrictive?

This was an international decision made by Meli. There was a discussion held on avatars last Monday. When it came to political avatars, her thoughts were that it wouldn't be fair if we allowed some political avatars, and not others, and that avatars aren't a political platform.

That being said, if you do find someone who is using a political avatar, please report it so it can be handled ^^

By reading the announcement, there was an impression that people using avatars which show the Mount Rushmore would be banned once they show politicians, for instance. It means you're denying and prohibiting your own history. Discussing politics must not be banned as long as you respect other views, since most of us live in countries which the form of government is based on democracy. Besides it, Transformice itself had an election system supported by furs a few years ago. hahaha
By reading your answer, it seems Meli and you took this decision based on current/ongoing elections in order to avoid advertisement. Now, you got me confused. Will "political avatars" be banned for politicians who are running current elections or will you sanction people for using Abraham Lincoln's avatar? Will you ban people in both cases?

All political avatars are banned and will be removed, no exceptions. This decision was not taken based on the current political climate, it is something that has been discussed for a long time before coming to a final decision. There are plenty of other social media sites where you can discuss politics, this is simply not one of them.

I don't think "[...]political discourse has no relevance to the game,[...]". We had some threads discussing about politics in the Off Topic section from my home server (e.g.: 1, 2). Most threads in international Off Topic sections barely reach half of the comments those ones got. So, I must say they brought several users to the forums and they're still relevant to the user/playerbase. How long will it take before admins demand this content is unsuitable for the forums and request sentinels to remove such threads? The more restrictive you are, the more people will be affraid to post or/and join a discussion on the forums.
Seriously, our dear admins should focus on what playerbase really needs and develop/update things which will improve user experience instead of coming up with a nonsense international rule.

i believe this rule was set in place to prevent fighting and drama, as you may know, politics can cause quit a bit of chaos, so mods and admins have set it in place to prevent fighting between players, that can grow and grow until a whole server is possibly against eachother over the topic of politics

before you jump at me, i may be wrong, i said i BELIEVE the rule was set in place for this reason

Hi, Lelianna. It could be a possibility for smaller servers, but it wouldn't be a reality in BR server. Besides it, moderators and sentinels are there in order to control chaos whenever it happens.
I was just worried because they just set a new international rule which seemed to do more harm than good and threw it to the community with no further explanation (here it goes the whole discussion about the lack of communication among admins, other staff members and players haha).
Don't worry. I'd never jump at you or any other user. I'm really sorry if I looked harsh or offensive in my previous posts. :(

I really hope nobody gets punished for doing that, just removing their avatar image and telling them to use a different will be fine, at least the first few times.

We use Atatürk avatars as a respect and love. I haven't seen anybody judging or arguing with someone because of their Atatürk avatar yet. I personally see Atatürk apart from everyone. He's not like any other for me. Think it as if you had an Atatürk avatar as a symbol of Turks, and Turkey, as he is the founder of Turkey where we live.

He is still a very controversial figure in neighboring countries though, even inside Turkey, especially for ethnic minorities. So, yeah, with this new policy of Transformice, this cult of personality wll have to stop, at least in game.

I think having a "top sanction" list promotes reckless behavior rather than help with building a secure community.

I understand why you would think that, but moderators on that list receive no awards or benefits.
