There's a mod you don't really know. He reads what you wrote ("most mods I met are assholes") so he's going to assume that you think he's an asshole and feel sad. Like if I said, "most people I met whose names start with B are cool," you might think that I think you're cool, or at least you might feel slightly better about yourself.

I have no idea if Mods are corupt. I suppose it is possible and honestly I hear crazy things like "I joked and called this mod a noob and was muted for an hour because of it!" or others getting crazy mutes on the forums for one spam post (of course I have no idea how much of it is really them trying to plead to me it wasn't their fault or not).

It just makes me thankful I haven't been burned yet from said possible Mod abuse :c

Most of the people claiming that Mods are corrupt in this thread have large ban/mute logs due to repeated rulebreaking themselves, I don't personally see them as very reliable reports of "Corruption" myself.

So that means just because I had some bans and mutes, my opinion is not as much worth as the opinions of "clean" people.
By the way, I'm not saying mods are corrupt, but the staff often does not so overthought things, especially in the forums.
And I was just pointing out the possibility of them muting for no reason, not implying the staff actually does such things.

Thanks for clearing it up, although I myself am not really mad at people who ban and mute me. After all it was my fault to begin with. (in most cases)

Well i dont think some mods are corrupt.

Moderators should not be chosen based on applications or reporting other players. They should be upstanding members of the community, as opposed to attention-whores and corrupt people just looking for power.

Yes, it's true that one that has received more discipline is more likely to hold a grudge than one who has not experienced such behavior. But as for me, I'd rather call any opinions I have an opinion based upon experience rather than a grudge. I don't hold grudges. I do however, take my experiences and use them to calculate further decisions.

Just for the record, my opinions of Mods are not all bad, but I do tend to voice my criticisms rather than blessings, but that's only because I'd like things to operate in a logical manner (Illogical things frustrate me >:( ). I'd just like to apologize for my rudeness, if it means anything to mods or sents whom might be holding a grudge against me. (Yes, you're human too lol)

Corrupt? I don't think so, but most are pretty shitty at determining who is and isn't a hacker. I play in ffa only and ping/latency is quite evil to players in that room. I've seen Verrader banned several times on guest accounts when she was not hacking. Many don't seem to realize the issues latency causes.

Also, reports don't seem to be followed up on very often. I realize they are players too since I was a mod once and liked to kick back and just play. Think all mods should be primarily modded on an alt with their main used just to play (but given mod power to snipe any cheaters they might see in the process). Also, spam should not be a reportable offense or something they bother with given a player can ignore a spammer. Insults as well really shouldn't be dealt with. I think all reports for insults should be sent to the arbs instead of the mods. Mods should only deal with higher level things such as hackers.

Also, mods, please tell br mods about latency, because br pretty much has the worst latency in the game and they don't even know it.

Do you think that even the community managers understand how latency & how and when the current position of your mouse is shared to other mice? I don't...

Nevertheless, most cheaters are easily detectable and you can send an army of lemmings against them :)

Anyway, the moment you are introducing a group into a community that has more powers than others, you are inviting corruption and favoritism (we are all humans after all). Thinking or hoping that there is no such thing or will never happen for the tfm mods is naive.
The thing is: would we better off without mods? I don't think so as long as mods are primarily viewed as an important measure against cheaters - that will also probably never change.
