My suggestion: in the chat, show a system message "[playername] is drawing", with the playername being clickable with normal player name options for easy reporting. If people know they can be reported / caught, then it becomes only as much of an issue as language.

In all seriousness though removing something awesome because a few people will abuse it is horrible logic. Besides, if you can't handle a nipple you're probably too young for this game anyway.

In all honesty you would always have someone drawing something inappropriate, despite if it's breasts or the lower regions. Because it's also viewed upon everyone, it's a consumable that may just be temporary, because ya'know the team may not support this in the future. Just wait out the storm until the next event and hope that the paintbrush is not a thing. Either way just ignore it. Simple.

half support by keeping the item but making it such that mods can see who's drawing what since there is a very large tendency for human genitalia to get drawn by 12 year olds on this game who think doing that is funny. also, repeated abuses of the item would result in the user being unable to use it anymore

but we all know that tig would never implement my suggestion on this because it'd take too much WORK

I think all players should be able to see who drew what. That will allow them to use the /report command to report rule-breaking drawings instead of having to whisper online mods because they don't know who did it.

Also, the problem with drawings is not just these children who draw phallic figures, but also the players who draw insults or inappropriate sexual stuff. So yes, the impact is quite the same. Just because they're allowed to build penis-like totems, this doesn't mean they could do the same with the drawings because, as I said before, a totem allows more room for interpretation, while a drawing can be more detailed. You simply can't expect a child (and sometimes even an adult) to behave appropriately when you give them a such tool.

Drawings should not be hidden, just as profanity is not hidden; just censored. We know it exists, that's all. It's impossible to know what people are talking about if you hide things (which is why I'm against the current whisper disabling, and being able to hide the chat; you would never know if someone is trying to get your attention) Unfortunately, there's no way to censor drawings. Perhaps along with the highlighting feature of the mouse, you can click the drawing to vote for it to get erased. 5 votes (this is perhaps too small for the ease of which it can be done) erases the drawing. It needs to be less than the 10 vote ban for votekicking; not enough people usually go for a vote ban because they can't be bothered typing it in chat; clicking the screen is much simpler. The vote for removing the drawing does not place a record on the mouse.
Should a mouse be repeatedly drawing profanity, or it offends someone, it can be reported and banned since all mice can see who drew it by simply hovering the mouse over it.

Example:
"Drawn by Solfn (Click to vote for erasure) 2/5"

If a drawing is erased it should be displayed in the chat. "Erased drawing of Solfn."

Some people will use them for fun in a good way but mostly its all just dirty. Unless they can find a way to filter pens so that some people can turn them off or make it so somehow people don't draw dirty things, its best if they were removed. Sadly these days with kids decency has been thrown out the window.
